Well, I ended up removing the stitches myself today. It kinda "have to" situation. One of the cats started to lick & pull the stitches last night. To prevent any injuries, I remove the stitches using clean scissors. Quite easy, the stitches removed easily & cleanly.

QUOTE(Petre @ May 6 2015, 10:10 AM) hi all Did you neutered your cat yet? If not this is normal to some cats when they mature. It doesn't sound like your cat having problem peeing. If your cat stay in the litter box too long & he only peed a little, then he likely have problem urinating. Also if he is not in pain there's nothing you should worry about.may i ask if you ever encounter this my cat litterbox is outside and the door is usually closed. i am using clumping litter type, which looks like small small pebbles that will clump once in touch with liquid and i clean the box daily situation: so my cat recently will meow meow a lot demanding to access the box... then he will strike the pee post and sometimes only very little pee... in 5 mins he can do it 4 times... question: 1- is my cat just bored because we live in an apartment and he got nothing to do? 2- i suspect maybe its the litterbox problem? because i saw my cat moving the pebbles immediately after i exchange the latest batch of pebbles. FYI i use 2 litterbox in alternate - current one will be washed when changing litter so the other one will be used in turn 3- when cleaning everyday i can scoop out clumps of ping pong ball size so there is no suspicion of blockage... recently i open the door at night so that he can access the litterbox whenever he wants since he likes to access it around 4-5am in the morning. previously i had to wake up to open the door for him... what i know: - no blood in the clumps. healthy amount of poop. ping pong size clumps (urine) every morning (means he still pees) thanks for your reply I have one un-neutered male cat when he matured, he peed quite frequently. Whenever I scooped out clumps from the litter box, he will come to the litter box to pee afterward. And if I scooped that clumps, he will come & pee again. It's like he is marking his territory in the litter box. He doesn't do this anymore. I'm planning to neutered him soon. Not all un-neutered male cats behave like this though, only some I believe. If you see anything out of the ordinary in his behavior, it's probably good idea to bring the cat to vet for checkup. QUOTE(nujikabane @ May 6 2015, 02:13 PM) I am wondering, Neutering for male cats. Spaying for female cats. The idea for both are for population control. Female cats that already spayed will no longer able to get pregnant or get aroused (heat). Will neutering female kitten make them less aroused? Or it has nothing to do with her arousal/inclination to breed? This post has been edited by kizwan: May 6 2015, 02:47 PM |

QUOTE(nujikabane @ May 6 2015, 07:33 PM) ^ But I find it funny that removal of sexual organs can remove their sexual needs. I think to understand why there's difference between pet & human, you can check out what will be removed from female human. Whether it also reduced hormones production. I read there's variety of surgeries for human. So the effect also varies too I think. For cat spaying, the parts of the female reproductive tract that get removed is responsible for the secretion of the major female hormones (oestrogen and progesterone). This is why spayed cat no longer go through heat cycle anymore after spayed. The effect might be different to human.Unlike humans, even though sexual organs removed, can still be aroused and still have sexual needs. My vet told me that if the female cat spayed while in heat, she will still in heat after spaying until current heat cycle is finished. I guess there's left over hormones that causing the female cat to remain in heat but once the current cycle is finished, she will no longer go through heat cycle after that. QUOTE(xhakox @ May 8 2015, 12:42 PM) I just only adopted a kitten. It's normal for new cats to relapse. Give her time. Did you put the litterbox in the bedroom? So far so good, taught her to poo and pee in the litter box and it went well for a few days. Until last night, suddenly I saw her poo on my bed Anyone here can recommend me a good cat repellent for sofa/bed stuff? QUOTE(popper @ May 8 2015, 02:42 PM) May i ask whoever have experiance with kittens, this kitten is 2 month old and his father Birman very tough guy, mother persian but seems like have got scottish or russian blue gen within her, anyone can tell this kitten is more to his father or mother? More to Birman than Persian IMO.As in his future look, fur etc QUOTE(csvanguard @ May 8 2015, 04:24 PM) I don't have any experience on this. Did you bring your cat to vet yet? I just read about this just now, depending on the severity, change of diet is needed, cat food with higher fiber. Did you try that? Better ask vet for better advice. |

QUOTE(xhakox @ May 8 2015, 10:25 PM) The litterbox is in a different room She may relapse from time to time. It's normal for new cats, especially kitten but she eventually stop doing that. I think you know the faster solution, put litter box (or another litter box) in the bedroom. But usually if she wants to poo/pee, she would go there... But that day only I dunno why she poo on my bed.. You can consider SmartSift litter box if "eeww" factor is a concern. I have two & I put one in the back bedroom where some of my cats like to hangout & sleep. QUOTE(csvanguard @ May 8 2015, 10:38 PM) I bring my cat to 1 of vet clinic near my house twice every week.. what he do .. he only manual dig out all the stool and he gave me bottle of laxative to feed my cat everyday 3ml.. i been repeat this for month and nothing improve .. i told my vet i put oat bran to my cat food for fiber but doctor told me that is a stupid action which cat will produce more stool and it only will lead to more terrible It's probably already chronic, that's why the vet suggest surgery. Yeah, 3k is to expensive. Did you try gov vet clinic? I think all district gov vet clinic can do surgery but I don't know whether they can do this surgery. Where do you live? Maybe you can try UPM vet hospital. I heard they charge reasonably.he also suggest me to bring my cat for surgery which cut off the whole megacolon .. the surgery cost rm3k which is super expensive and after the surgery .. the cat might always diarrhea all the time until end of life BTW, if anyone want to neuter/spay their cats but have little budget, you guys can try check out your nearest district gov vet clinic. For example, Kerian (Parit Buntar, Perak) district gov vet clinic offer neuter & spay services for RM40 & RM80 respectively. I don't know about other places/states though. |

QUOTE(xhakox @ May 9 2015, 11:09 AM) I'm guessing you're using non-clumping litter? Depending on the environment where the litter box located, the non-clumping litter can get smelly quickly. If you have sensitive nose, better use clumping litter. The only non-clumping litter that best in controlling odor, IMO, is crystal type litter but you still need to replace it every week or two. Also, if I'm correct you're using non-clumping litter, this could explains why your kitten relapse. Some cats very sensitive with the smell & refuse to use the litter box, even though the litter only a couple of days old. This post has been edited by kizwan: May 9 2015, 01:22 PM |

QUOTE(popper @ May 9 2015, 05:27 PM) I can't predict what he is going to look like in the future. Maybe the colour remain the same or maybe there would be some changes to the colour. But I think he is look like Birman than Persian. I have two kittens that when born was all white but when they getting older, the nose become black & the tail have black shade a little. Now 7 months old, fur on the tummy also have black shade & their fur not true white anymore, like Siamese but not exactly. |

QUOTE(Petre @ May 10 2015, 11:52 AM) guys need some advice This article may be able to answer the question.my male cat neutered around 8 months ago. before neutered he got tried to do his thing with a plush toy... the plush toy was washed and kept away since he was neutered today i found him trying to do it with the same plush toy again my question is... a neutered cat can still "high"? or is there another problem there? pls help. thanks http://pets.thenest.com/cats-hump-theyre-neutered-9963.html It mentioned there, neutered cat can get female cat pregnant around 6 weeks after neutering. Yours already 8 months, hormones should already exit his body. Probably the neutering process not complete? I was going to bring my male cat next for neutering. If this is the case, I might bring my female cat for spaying instead. At least spaying is permanent. This post has been edited by kizwan: May 10 2015, 01:54 PM |

I don't really care how you guys got your cat but just take really good care of your cat for the rest of their live. You're now have a responsibility for another living breathing creature. It's not something you should take lightly.
If you think stray cats doing well on the street, you should change your mindset. They don't. Many of them even have difficulty to get food everyday. Many of the stray cats have been abused & poisoned. That's why any true cat lover want to help these stray cats either they are cute or ugly, sick or healthy. Even Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. told us to love cats. |

QUOTE(toomanyrulez @ May 15 2015, 05:07 PM) Why angry at someone who spend money to have a cat? A Caine Moon for example, it's not available everywhere.. so there's that.. Well I can understand if anyone angry though. This is after all cat lovers thread. Even if you go to any cat or dog lovers forum & post this, you will get negative response from cat lovers. Why? Because there's so many stray cats that needed home & they should be priority to anyone want to adopt cats. What I worried about people buying cats is that these people may not yet grasp the responsibility to take care a cat. Don't get me wrong though. I'm not saying anyone buying cats is bad people or not cat lover. I'm saying this because I have seen this over & over again, when the cats start to burden them, they'll abandon their cats. |

Why feels offended? You blamed other people for easily offended. Why do you easily get offended? I merely voiced my opinion. I definitely never said who doesn't adopt is cruel. Definitely not. Please learn to read carefully, not with emotion.
I also did not accused you or that guy of anything. What I said is based on the experience. You should take it as a reminder. Only time will tell right? "Oh and not only cat got ambushed or poisoned but even dogs." I don't know what kind of logic is this. Do you mean just because dog get poisoned, so it's ok for cat to get poisoned too? What kind of logic is that. Haha. I'm against any cruelty to any kind of animal including cats & dogs. As a Muslim, we are teached to show kindness to animals. There is a hadith which tell a story of a prostitute from Bani Israel who feels sympathized to a thirsty dog. She climb down in the well & drew some water with her shoe for the dog. Because of this God forgave her for all of her sin. |

QUOTE(Asak8 @ May 16 2015, 12:15 PM) Well. Even I did not support buying cats because I think there's a lot of stray cats that needed home and love currently. All 3 of my cats are stray cats from a restaurant. No need to drag this anymore. The fire already put out by me & popper in our last reply. But for kitten sake, this is a cat lover thread. Not adopted cat lover or bought cat lover. The fella is just sharing his excitement over getting a new cat but suddenly got bombed because he doesn't follow your definition of getting a cat. A lot of hate from a thread that discussed about such a lovable creature. To put this thing to rest, I just want to recap that no one bombing that guy after he posted that he paid deposit for a kitten. No one. The reply after that just an innocent comment why he did not just adopt stray cats especially from shelter home that already overflow with too many stray cats. If you posted this in any animal lover forum, even international ones, you will get the same response. So it's basically normal response. I don't see any "bomb" in it. Also to be fair no one know what kind of cat he is getting at that time. The comments afterwards that leads to the bombing. I already decided not to involve with the discussion but responding anyway when I saw a comment on stray cats. Anyway, like I said, no need to drag this anymore. |

QUOTE(popper @ May 18 2015, 10:41 AM) I got a kitten almost 5 months old, and yesterday i bring back a new buddy for her , Smokie which is just 2 and half months old..we tried to hold them closer.. The female start making that pissed off noise.. Than after awhile we put them closer only enough to touch hands..Ashie and Smokie stare for awhile eye contact a bit and Ashie start touching his hand with her nail softly like trying to grab things.. But smokie staring something else and Ashie pissed off again haha.. Is that sort of good sign that my kitten actually ready for new buddy? Just take a bit more time? It'll take time for them to get along well & they will. Kitten this young easier & quickly to get along than older ones. |

That's normal & it only have been four days. Did the young kitten eat regularly? Milk (for cat of course)? I think it's too soon to separate the young kitten from the mother. IMO, no less than 3 months old, if you want to separate the kitten from the mother. At 2 months old, the mother cat still looking for her kitten to breastfeed them. Is it possible to return the kitten to the mother for now?

QUOTE(popper @ May 21 2015, 03:27 PM) he did eat and drink water like normal.. which seems reasonable amount.. his mother start kicking her off when he try to drink milk No need to feed him milk anymore in that case. Yeah, some mother cats will refuse to breastfeeding once the kitten grow their teeth. Quite normal. It'll take time though. It may take one or two or more weeks before they can get along nicely. Don't worry about it. QUOTE(splatzkill @ May 21 2015, 06:27 PM) reminds me of the time i got a 2nd kitten for my 1st kitten. 5mths and 2mths respectedly as well. Pretty much how I introduced new kittens to existing kittens. But I only caged the new kittens though & only lasted for a couple of weeks. So far 100% success. I also successfully getting an older & younger cats get along without involving cage.there are alot of online tips how to introduce a new cat to the current household or to the resident cat. i went abit far by actually buying another 3 storey cage for the kitten and put their cages side by side. let him glare and hiss at each other until after a week before they got tired of hissing and glaring at each other. had to let the 1st kitten out and kept the kitten caged just to show the 1st kitten that her position is not in jeopardy.... LOL sounds silly i know.. 2nd kitten made alot of noise of course but i kept her locked anyway. kesian juga but only temporarily until they both got along. now they both get along and my 2nd cage is redundant, so i gave it to a pet adoption shelter. p/s before anyone get the wrong idea, i dont cage my cats all the time. as long as i am home, they are out causing mischief |
