sighs... cats can be some dramatic

my cat also can freak out if they are startled by any sound that is unfamiliar...

hope your cat recover soon...

my cat also occasionally hit himself on the wall when he is running (mostly while playing chase)... i hope he knows what he's doing...

It depends on what you feed them, but bad breath usually means bad teeth.

I brush my cats' teeth every night.

how to brush a cats teeth? special toothbrush and toothpaste?

Yes, there are pet toothbrushes (which are smaller) and pet toothpaste for cats and dogs. You have to let them get used to it.
Do you know what type of plants you have in the house? There are plants that are poisonous to cats, as well as those that make them vomit or experience diarrhea.

Do you brush your cat? When they clean themselves, they ingest the fur, which causes hairballs.

Best thing to do is to take him to the vet, immediately.

got my boy to vet this morning, the vet check check his intestine area, told me there could be a lump, could be lymph swollen or could be constipation due to hairball. so got some constipation med, antibiotics etc, see if he gets better in 3 days...

usually vets have ultra sound machine that can scan the internals? like if there is any blockage anywhere? i hope its not going to be worse aka something else block his system, since he sometimes chew on things he is not supposed to

learnt a big lesson today, coz i never gave him any laxative in this 2 years. i hope its not a major hairball problem

he sometimes show this vomit action but nothing comes out, he sleeps now, i will try to see if he gets his appetite back, also am feeding him water using a syringe since he is not in mood to eat or drink...

sad and worried...

if i induce vomitting, will it help him?

the last time he vomitted hairball (together with some other content), it was yellowish. is it his gastric juice?

Laxatives? What the hell? You don't need to be giving your cat laxatives, especially not without vet instruction! My cats have never been given laxatives, nor have my boyfriend's mother's cats (and she's had the cats for 10 years now).
Please don't. You will dehydrate him.

i was given this, instructed to feed 10cm each time, it smells like chocolate

Try boiled/steamed chicken or wet food (tuna or any fish). These food have strong smell, may help your cat appetite. If necessary, force feed him wet food (tuna) a little. Also feed him glucose drink for energy.
*
i forced feed him some prescribed canned food. he doesnt want to eat anything, and have not been pooping for 24 hours, maybe due to lack of food intake
i also forced feed him water with a syringe... he is not eating and drinking

i will go back to the vet soon if he is not improving

QUOTE(spunkberry @ Dec 16 2015, 04:15 AM)
Whatever you do, ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR VET!
*
yes, i will, dont worry
i just wonder why his voice became hoarse, could it be an injury when he tried to vomit his hairball previously?

he still sometimes show the motion of throwing up but nothing happened... sigh...

not eating, not drinking, hoarse voice, lack of stool (maybe due to lack of food)

i think maybe i should go to another vet and get ultrasound scan> is it expensive?

My cats did get sick a couple months ago. There is vomiting too but not severe like yours. No eating & drinking. My vet pretty much said to me, I really need to get my cats eating something & drinking too. Pretty much need to assist them just like you did with your cat there. With no drinking & eating, cats pretty much lethargic. My vet suggest to feed them glucose drink 3 times a day, to restore their energy. You should ask your vet about this when you bring your cat to vet again.

So far no. Ringworm is infectious right? Hopefully I don't have to deal with it because I have many cats. I hope your cat free from ringworm soon.  smile.gif

Do cleaning the ears regularly helps prevent ringworm infection? I use Royal Breed Ear Cleaner to clean my cat ears.
Petre@ I hope your cat got better now.  smile.gif

dear kizwan
thanks for your concern

my cat had all of a sudden, became "90% normal" on saturday morning, the morning on which i was suppose to bring him back to the vet

as of today, he is getting better and better and more normal. i am really thankful. he is eating again and i did see him drinking as well. the thing is, whenever i have the time and resource, i will bring him back to have a scan to make sure what kind of garbage that he have in his stomach (which i hope wont happen). until then, i can only learn from this experience and hopefully be more caring and alert about his activities (especially to stop whatever that may harm him)

prior to that, just to share my experience, i have been feeding him with liquid aloe vera concentrate. i think it helped him tremendously. aloe vera is very useful for human gut health, it previously helped my wife with her long term gastric problem (a problem since born), and aloe vera "cured" her. i googled and found some info about aloe for cats. apparently, aloe can benefit cats as well

sorry that this may not be related to cats, but i wish to share about the benefit of aloe vera to us humans. if you have gut and digestive system problem, try aloe vera. its VERY good. especially to those constipated and suffer from gastric and gut problems

i will be monitoring my cat closely for the next week... i hope he is healthy again...

thanks again to everyone for the support and advice

meow!

I donno why I thought about ears though, especially I have ringworm page opened & read before I replied. I hope your cat get better soon.

My cats also indoor too & generally their ears are clean but every now and then a couple of my cats do need help in cleaning their ears though. I just clean the outside, not in the ear canal.
It's nice to hear that. Thanks for the tips on the aloe vera. I feed my cats with ACV, mixed in their drinking water. It have helped my cats a coupe of times. I will need to read on the aloe vera.

i will try to incorporate ACV in my cats diet, i myself is taking ACV on daily basis smile.gif

It starts to happen when i move her to new house. Bigger place for her to freely roam.
Last time stay with her in a rented room. nothing happen when i left herself in room when going to work.
Yep , 1 cat only.

Ok, i will try to add another one. Really a headache to clean up her pee... The stain remover selling in ace hardware cost about RM50+, i use feebreze and listerine also cannot remove the pee smell.

my cat also alone at home during daytime.. i quite sad and pity him at times...

perhaps we should let our cats be of each other's company biggrin.gif

hi guys,

do you often bring your cat for a long journey?

how do you guys manage the journey? do you restrict food intake before start the journey?

i am planning of bringing my cats from KL to Ipoh this Friday. the longest journey that my cats experienced were 15 minutes. from my apartment to the vet.

any tips?

i know it can be dangerous and i only do this when i have another passanger with me

i let my cat roam around in the car, so he like to move to different windows to look outside, its funny to see him standing on two feet looking outside
letting my cat moving around helps to calm him, he loves looking outside, even sometimes stand on my lap and looking outside

Smart boy that knows go to a corner in the toilet for excreting. Love to manja and will sleep on your laps. Will play 'throw-and catch' just by using wrappers from food, he will bring it back to you. He ate very little and may appear thin, but vet said he is in good health. He was kept indoor so he is very clean and free from flea/tick.
My new landlord doesn't allowed pet, thus I need YOUR help to adopt, love, take care of him and give him a forever home.
Please let me know if you are interested in this lovely boy.
Thank you.
