lol my kitten does the same and its adorable ... except the bringing in the live cicak.
once she brought in a maggi mee wrapper and gave me the proud look like she scored a big kill rofl

It's part of her exercise. Sometimes I lose track of the small flying pests but she'll pay 100% focus, no rest till she gets it! lol

Mine does quite a lot, tgh malam bila tidur she'll bring in telco bill, electric bill, sometimes medicine and put next to me macam she did something really good laugh.gif

you don't let your cat sleep with you? sad.gif

My cat is attached to sleeping on my bed with me now, especially with the air-conditioning switched on.
She'll walk over me and my comforter sometimes.

But she knows her place, with is the bottom right corner of the bed laugh.gif

During the day, she's rarely on the bed - she uses her 2 cat beds, 1 in my room and the other in the living room instead.

24 hours to recover from the anesthetic, 10-14 days for full recovery from surgery. No jumping, no running.

Mine was up and running the same day itself, as if nothing happened to her laugh.gif

depends on when the surgery is. my girl was walking around, but definitely not "sober", and the shelter vet told me no food for her until the following morning. She was fine after 24 hours, but because of the incision, I kept her shut in my bedroom with low furniture.

I don't want to take any chances. I caged my girls separately. I had to re-arranged the 3-storey cage to one storey cage to prevent them from jumping or climbing in the cage.

I brought home my girls right after surgery, 4.30pm. One of the girls already started to awake while on the way back home but remain hungover even though she seems tried to fight it. The second one started to awake that night & remain hungover for no less than 24 hours. During hungover both can walk but their back legs still weak. I don't know how your cat can already running & jumping the same day, Seager. Probably depends on the anesthesia use by vet?

It's sixth days now & both my girls doing great.
Well this kind of behaviour is normal. Did you try find people to adopt these stray cats?

Mine came home I put her in the cage, she woke up and was still groggy.
She started climbing around wanted to be let out, so I let her out. She walk2 then fall, walk2 then fall so cute laugh.gif

But when we put her back into the cage she starts climbing and stretching again to be let out. So we just let her out and kept her in her bed in the hall and monitored her. About 4-5 hours after she came home she was back to normal, but we didn't play much with her as we did not want her to run around. The same night, all her eating habits and playing habits were back to normal but we avoided playing with her, instead just pet her and made her rest and sleep next to us. Couple of days later took her back to the vet to undo the stitch.

I dropped mine off at the vet at around 10am, and she was done by around 1pm - so we brought her home smile.gif

Mine the opposite. They'll sit quitely in the cage but once get out, they will walk around & climbing. I actually can't wait to let them out from the cage.

About the stitch, I forgot to ask my vet & he also didn't tell me when I should bring them to undo the stitches. I'll call him tomorrow. A couple of stitches on one of the cats already gone without a trace.
*
QUOTE(spunkberry @ Apr 29 2015, 01:38 AM)
Can you see the stitches? Usually they're internal, dissolving stitches. If they didn't tell you to come back to take them out, you may not even need to because they'll dissolve.
*
Yes, depends on the type of stitch.
My vet is pretty old school, outer stitch so I had to bring her back to cut. I could have done it on my own though, but I figured I'd just bring her back to the vet.

I can see the stitches. I just called my vet & he said it's too early. FYI, today is 7th day after surgery. He also said that the stitches that he used should be breaking off by itself which explains a couple of stitches on one of the cats already gone without any ill effect. It break off cleanly. Look like it's not something urgent at the moment. If the remaining stitches still there after 10 - 14 days, I can bring my cats to remove the stitches.

I took this pic a couple days ago. I don't know whether you can see the stitches clearly or not.
[attachmentid=4430536]

Another cat not photo-friendly unfortunately. Always moving whenever I try to take a pic. I want to let them out but they're climber. Always like to climb & jump. I let one out last night & first thing she want to do is jump up to the top of the cage.

I brought my cat back to the vet exactly a week after surgery to cut her stitch. But somehow my vet's incision is on the belly of the cat itself, yours seems to be on the side. Perhaps different vet, different techniques. Or maybe angle lari kot laugh.gif

I remember my cat started to lick and nibble on her stitch (the reason I say stitch is because AFAIK it was a very small incision), but the vet said it is normal as they are curious. As long as they don't remove the stitch, it will be okay. Just needed to be stern with her whenever she nibbled her stitch, whenever she did it we would scold her and she understood not to do it. Licking as fine, as my vet said it's part of their healing process.

Like I said previously, my cat when in her cage she climbs and stretches so we had to let her out, but paid very close attention to her. No sudden movements, no playing around for a couple of days. However at night, we put her back in the cage to sleep - only for a week till we got the stitch removed and then no more cage.

as long as the wound is nice and beautiful, ntg much to be worried.

I hv a question. Is it ok for cats to eat insect? My cats has been hunting the insect that comes before the raIn. The one attracted to the light n will become white ants.
*
In my house there's no longer a need for insect repellent. The moment insects enter my house, they have to face the wrath of my cat! Lol we let her hunt them but make sure she doesn't eat them. Although sometimes she does but that cannot be avoided.

Guys any recommendation of pet shops around KL where I can find Orijen cat food? It seems rather hard to come by these days.

I used to feed my cat Orijen before switching to Nutrience (because a couple of stores that I went to had no stock for Orijen). I wanna change back to Orijen, as I noticed that my cat sheds fur now, ever since she started consuming Nutrience a few weeks back. I'm running low on Nutrience now (perhaps 1 week stock remaining) and wanna change back to Orijen.

Or do you guys have any other recommendations for appropriate dry food that would reduce fur shedding? The change is quite noticeable on my cat. She never actually used to shed fur, but now my mom complains every couple of days doh.gif

Let me tell you why you need a laser pointer for your cat:
1. Cats go crazy - Good exercise!
2. At night you can use it to point objects far far away and watch people freak out! laugh.gif

Hey guys,

My cat (DMH or perhaps DLH) just over a year old still sheds her fur. Started 3-4 months back and I assumed it was due to change of food brand. But I switched back to Orijen, and her fur still sheds - and it's quite a lot.

She's healthy, eats well and plays actively.
The amount of fur shed is becoming quite a problem lol

How do I go about this? Any vitamins? Should I bring her to the vet? Her next vaccination is due end of July.

Just want to clarify. In the span of only one day, your cat shed a lot of fur? If it's clumping of fur, then it's quite a lot though.
*
Yes even in one day she sheds a lot of fur.
She sleeps on my bed too so every morning I have to wipe it clean and believe me, there's quite a lot of it.

Ok, that's pretty bad. Your cat not in stress & I'm pretty sure you checked tick/flea, so can rule these out. I think it's food though. I know that you already change back to the regular food but it probably take a while before the problem stop. My cats also sometime have fur shedding problem too but usually there's always underlying causes like irritating from mosquito bite or tick/flea bite. In my case certain places, especially near the tail and anus, will go bald. In your case, I think the underlying cause is diet. I believe you probably already give it some time to settle down but it's not happening. All I can suggest, try change to more common food brand like Blackwood or Royal Canin. If the problem settle down, I think then you can go back to Orijen & the problem hopefully won't come back.
*
I've reverted back to using Orijen from Nutrience, almost 2-3 weeks back.
But nothing has changed.

My cat is an indoor cat, clean. She's active and plays a lot when we play with her.
I'm not too sure what other causes might be, besides food though. She was fine when fed with Orijen since the beginning, but her fur started dropping when I changed to Nutrience. And now having changed back to Orijen, the problem still persists hmm.gif

It has been months now that the weather hotter than usual but I do not noticed any difference on shedding on my cats though, even with DMH cats.
EDIT: Writing in forum can cause confusion sometime. When I read my post again today, it seems like I am disagreeing that cat can shedding more in certain seasons. Actually no though. Basically it just my observation on my cats. However, actually I do noticed that fur on my DMH cats are slightly less "thicker" than before though, if you know what I mean, especially around the head, neck & tail. My DMH cats a bit sensitive with the weather than other cats though.
*
QUOTE(jessteong @ Jun 9 2015, 10:34 AM)
speaking of shedding, recently from early May I do notice that my cats shed quite an amount of fur. the volume of the fur caught on their brush has been doubled. not sure if it's seasonal as i changed their diet 3 mths ago from Eureka to Britcare Missy
*
When I first brought my DMH in last year, her fur was still short as she was a kitten. Now her fur seems to be long and thick, however she does shed fur, but not enough for me to justify that her fur is less thick. Well, yes, it is less thick but not so significant.

Not too sure if this has anything to do with weather though, especially since my cat is still active and her daily routine has always been the same.
Perhaps I should try out other shampoos? Or are they any vitamins that I can give her?

Talked to the vet when I visited the clinic to buy kitty litter (since the brand sold here seems to be the most absorbent one I've used). Anyway, according to him it's normal for DMH/ DLH to shed, as long as she's active and there's no change to her routine then there's no need to worry.

Just need to groom her on a daily basis, which I do now - about 5 mins every morning just combing and grooming her to collect all loose hair (which have been reducing now since I've started)

I'm giving Orijen which is good, but he suggested that I may move to Royal Canin since it helps maintain a healthy, smooth coat especially since I keep her indoors most of the time. Not too sure if I may switch kibbles again, since she seems to be very comfortable with Orijen, and given the fact that daily grooming has significantly reduced the amount of loose fur flying around the house and landing on furniture. Maybe that's why we call it FURniture after all eh? laugh.gif

Yeap, do drop by biggrin.gif
Don't switch to Royal Canin. Just look at the ingredients list and you'll know that its all crap. Vets will recommend it because they're sponsored by the main company. That main company also sends these vets for training in nutrition and such which is biased towards their own product. Its akin to McDonalds sponsoring doctors to tell you that their food is good for your health.

Orijien will do fine in maintaining a good coat. Would be better if you can get them off kibble and on to wet/raw food.
*
Haha I know I just saw the list of ingredients too and I automatically wondered why they'd recommend me to move from Orijen to RC doh.gif
Guess that makes sense now.

I give her kibbles on a daily basis, but once every alternate day she gets 1 serving of boiled/ steamed fish or chicken.

But then again, don't keep a cat for the sake of keeping a cat. Mine's basically an equal family member laugh.gif

Make sure you have what it takes to carry out your responsibility as an owner before proceeding though!
