I live in a condo, and I have a cat smile.gif
But then again, don't keep a cat for the sake of keeping a cat. Mine's basically an equal family member laugh.gif

Make sure you have what it takes to carry out your responsibility as an owner before proceeding though!

+1

As it is costly to have a baby, it is the same as well when getting a cat.
You know it's a family member when your monthly budgeting includes their food, their litter and of course, emergency fund for suprise vet visit. biggrin.gif

Not to forget, initial cost of neuter/spay, vaccine, tick check and etc.

Make sure you are financially ready to get a cat. Good luck flex.gif

Thanks guys for the reply. I will look for government veterinary and inquire for them.
Meanwhile, I hope anyone who know which government vet is approved can let me know so I don't need to search for it too much.

Thank you

Hello. Sorry for my ignorance but by Labuan do you mean to Borneo?

According to my limited knowledge, as long as you are moving pet to other country. Here's what u need:

1) Look for pets agent. It's up to how much u want the pets agent to handle. Some pets agent only offer certain services and some offer more. It's the cost that you need to consider to use their services. You need to ask what is their procedure and what they cover.

1.5) You also need someone or some agent from Labuan to take care of your pet once your pet reach there. So Labuan side also need to do some preparation. Unless you are going over with your pet at the same time.

2) Send pets to veterinary for complete clinical test & check up (Need to ask the pet agent for what check up is required, I'm still looking for pets agent & which veterinary is suitable now).

3) Obtain import permit for your pet from animal export center. The only one I know is at Shah Alam. You can call them to ask what document is required before you go there to do the import permit. If my memory serve me right, you need the clinical test report as well.

4) Look for pet carrier/export that will schedule flights for your pet. You need all the related document like clinical report & import permit, then they will settle for you.

Yeah. Borneo's Labuan.

Thanks for the explanation. Just googled something on number 3. I'll go there maybe next week.
I'm really interested to know on number 4. What are the procedures? Will they give sleeping pills to my cats during flights?

Hello my fellow purry friends,

my cat has a 3 cm wound at his leg, probably because of fighting, and it healing process is very slow, already 2 weeks the wound still wet.
why is that so?
already put it under antibiotics, wound cleaning using saline, chlorohexide and iodine done everyday,
gamat solution already used but seems worsen.so i stop after few days.

this cat also already tested and confirm negative sporo, felv, fip and other dangerous virus. it is clean from diebetes too.

any tips how to get it heal and the wound close fast?
*
The main reason is because he kept on licking it.
Ever try e-collar?

oh is it?
havent done that yet.
how does this help?
coz the drainage is actually coming from the wound, not its saliva.
*
I learn this from my cat actually.
As it's their nature to lick their wound, sometimes they also bite-off the dried part of the wound.
Hence, making in bleeding again.

Because you've checked already he doesn't have diabetes and all, i think that's the logical explanation.
Maybe some other cat owners in here got another experience.

Wish you and your cat all the best rclxms.gif

This.

Whatever you use, it'll take time to heal if he kept licking the wound.

You doing it right IMO. Keep cleaning the wound & don't stop giving antibiotics unless doctor say. A couple of years ago my cat got a puncture wound at the back leg, the part where it folded when they sit. Mine also does take time to heal. There's drainage too that I kept cleaning but it usually dried up quickly.

how long you cat took to fully cure?

could be true.
e-collar kind of expensive. i am thinking of to make a hole on the polystyrene plate and put that plate on my cat's neck.
hope that will work. laugh.gif

Yeah. E-collar is expensive sweat.gif
I made an E-collar for my cat. Quite straight forward actually.
Got a lot of diy vid in youtube. U can try.

I feel I should put this here, even as I'm feeling very distressed and don't really want to talk about it.
Be careful when you put your beloved pets to sleep, always make sure you do the proper research. I put my cat to sleep at Vet Corner Veterinary Centre in Kuching, near to Saberkas. What I can say is NEVER AGAIN. I am never visiting them ever, and I strongly discourage pet lovers to as well.
Reason being, when my cat was put to sleep it was supposed to be a straightforward process. I inquired about sedating my pet beforehand, but the vet dismissed my concerns. Things took a turn for the worse, when after 2-3 times poking around his paws she couldn't find a vein to inject into. Then she just proceeded to do a intercardiac injection, which is injecting straight into the heart. As you can find out, this practice is banned in a lot of countries as it causes pain to the animal and should only be considered as a last resort and if the animal is already unconscious.
Not once did the vet explain to me this. Neither did she seek my approval. She was just rushing, scum like her can't wait to get in the next customer and earn more. She didn't even use a proper stethoscope to check my pet's pulse once it's over. Just a quick look in the eyes and a bit of messing around, barely 5 seconds and she declared him dead.
I'll put more details once I feel better. Still very distressed and furious, both at myself for ignorance and at the vet for her callousness. If you don't care for animals go be something else instead of a vet, scum. A complaint has been lodged with the Vet Council.

*
I'm sorry for your lost.
I went through this process twice and it was not easy.
Is this the same cat that you posted before? The one that was sick?

is that humane if i pts (put to sleep) a stray cat with severe sporo spot on his body? I dont want it spread to other stray cats. To cure it will incur huge cost and time consuming tht i could not afford to do so.
*
No. I don't think so.
It is inhumane to let the cat suffer more than it should.

I did it before as posted above and similar to you, my cat got a severe sporo spots.
This happened 10-15 years ago and back then the vet told me it's too severe to be cured.
So we decided to put it to sleep.

But I did hear that there's some medicine that my aunt bought that cured her cat.
Cost about 100-150 per bottle which last more or less a week.
If you want, I can ask her about it. smile.gif

The vet that I sent my cats for spaying advised to spay/neuter the cat as soon as they are old enough to be vaccined and dewormed (i forgot how many months sweat.gif )
This is to ensure that they don't even know how to mark their territory or why they need to.

Tried that to my 3 male cats and 4 years down the road, none of them did the spray thingy nor the ngaw ngaw sound.

I only have 1 litter box. They'll just queue if someone is using it (sometimes even push the fella out biggrin.gif )
But I clean the litter box twice a day.

Hope this helps.

hi guys,

do you often bring your cat for a long journey?

how do you guys manage the journey? do you restrict food intake before start the journey?

i am planning of bringing my cats from KL to Ipoh this Friday. the longest journey that my cats experienced were 15 minutes. from my apartment to the vet.

any tips?
*
I bring my cats for long distance travel twice a month.
Sepang-Gemas (approx. 2 and half hour journey) and Sepang-Ampang (approx. 40 minutes).
What I did is just sprinkle some water to their feet before the ride and they'll straight make that icky walk to the litter box and pee/poop.
If they don't have anything in their bladder, they'll just ignore it.

Make sure you put them in a carrier. And brace yourself for the constant meowing as they don't normally travel.

Good luck! biggrin.gif

is it 2 and half hour non-stop journey?
*
Yup. Non stop.
Does your cat love catnip? You can try put it in the carrier. To calm them.
But it wasn't effective to my cats. Seems like they are immune to catnip since birth.

QUOTE(kizwan @ Jan 6 2016, 09:15 PM)
I don't know that. Thanks for the tips. biggrin.gif

I agree putting the cat in the carrier when traveling. This way they don't panic & disturb you while driving.
*
Lol
I figured that out when they are playing with each other and accidentally stepped on spilled water (which they spilled when playing sweat.gif )
All 3 of them stopped, wiggle their feet and make their way to the litter box. biggrin.gif
