Since the Japanese version of Pokemon games never had any Kanji (only Hiragana/Katakana), it's very easy to pick up if you have just basic Japanese. Still, it's probably less hassleful if you wait for the Eng ver XD

Yes, Steel attacks are Super Effective against Ice. It's confirmed.

And IIRC, Ice attacks are Not Very Effective against Steel.

^^ Thats just one incentive to tell you NOT to import Diamond/Pearl. Unless you have a Jap GBA Ru/Sa/FR/LG/Emerald.

BTW...that's from Serebii forums wasn't it?

On second thought, it may be worth the import if you intend to get a headstart over everyone else, since JP D/P will trade with US D/P.

Bidfordun: Well true also actually...you won't lose out so much with WiFi trading available.

What he PROBABLY means is, because the starter pokemon from previous games only is a one-shot deal (pick one). So he may think that trainers may be reluctant to trade them over WiFi.

Which I don't think is a problem - After all, you can breed the starters and get multiples of them.

The only Pokemons that I think you will have problem finding online are the rare Event only Pokemon such as Mew, Celebi, Jirachi,Deoxys and Manaphy. Not to say that there won't be people trading them, but since these are only available through events and nothing else.

Haha, for me, I'm just happy if I even just have the entry to the Pokedex for the event rares.

I know of that glitch. It depends whether is it worth the risk or not. I DO know that if it failed, the pokemon you tried to clone will be gone. I saw the thread at Serebii forums and I saw some people failed and lost their Pokemon from failing to do it correctly.

I never tried exploiting the glitch, and I don't think I will. Sorry, but I won't put my save file at risk, considering I have the Pokedex done at 380(if I got the 6 legends of Mew, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Celebi, Jirachi and Deoxys, I'm done with the Dex).

Heh, I don't dare, and won't dare. If I had an extra cart to do so, I'd try. But not on this one which has the Dex completed bar the event pokes.

Johto starters you can get by completing the Hoenn pokedex (excluding Jirachi and Deoxys) in Emerald ONLY (Ruby and Sapphire players are out of luck). However you can only pick one out of the three. (I picked Cyndaquil)

I'm lucky enough to have friends with Emerald so we each picked one, and made eggs, hatched them, and sent them over to each of our games. smile.gif

I stay in KL la tongue.gif nowadays I hardly touch my Emerald cart...maybe once in a while when im bored I go back and play lol.

And trading/battling is impossible. I sold off my GBA SP ady, so I'm using my DS to play now. And you can't do neither with the DS.

I said IF I could get them I would have the most "complete" Pokedex. But meh, without them, at 380 the game considers the National Pokedex as complete...well at least the GameFreak visitors who gave me a cert at Lilycove City said so lol...

I like trading, but I'm terrible at battling. I'm more of a Pokemon collector than a battler which is why I'm looking forward to WiFi trading in D/P...which reminds me, I got to go pick up the Nintendo WiFi USB Connector soon sleep.gif

QUOTE(ashchia @ Oct 3 2006, 01:38 AM)
haha, i got 2 gba, so i can trade whenever i want, but i still trying to find emerald original in malaysia...
*
Do you live in the Klang Valley area? MidValley and Sunway Pyramid got. Expect to pay ~Rm150 tho. I got mine there.

QUOTE(db_88 @ Oct 3 2006, 02:14 AM)
if u buy pirated one, the save file is corrupted n if u grow berry, the berry will never grow cos the time is stop..my friends  got emerald pirated one..n after sometime the game can't be saved anymore..saying tat ur save file has been deleted
*
Yup...you cannot grow berries. And there is a high chance your save will get corrupt after beating the Elite Four. Happened to me before many times. Thats why I bought ori.

There's also the issue of compatibility....will the ori D/P detect the pirated carts?

QUOTE(andy_lhc @ Oct 3 2006, 08:10 AM)
ooh...needs real time clock???
*
Not sure...Emerald does have an in-game clock, which dies if your internal battery kaputs (and it doesn't work at all on pirated carts). But I'm not sure if it affects berries in Emerald....

phoenix, u can play nds games online? later we can trade online la.

also, can u help me check whether still got this game or not? i want to buy this ori la.

i have played pirated one b4 and confirmed edy, cannot grow berries at all since the clock is not working.

also, u bought ori emerald rite? the internal clock still can be used or not?
*
I'll be going down to Sunway later, so I'll check for you since MV no stock...

Well, I usually play at hotspots for MKDS if I have time..but l buy the USB connector later for D/P...since I'll be trading often..

Internal clock of course can be used in Ori Emerald. But eventually the battery for the ori cart will die so it will also eventually stop. But of course the battery will last way longer on the ori la ofc.

binfordun pokemon have nature since ruby and sapphire, i thought you play those games already? you suppose to know that. and i like jolly nature biggrin.gif . especialy jolly jolteon flex.gif , my all time favourite in my fire red game.  whistling.gif

i see pokemon emerald at klcc, but the price tag is RM200 rclxub.gif . i ask that shopkeeper to lower the price a bit, he said is fix price sweat.gif
*
IMO, Jolly isn't so good....there's no need for Jolteon's speed to go any higher while lowering his Sp. Atk.

And yeah, I usually look for either Adamant for physical sweepers, or Modest for special sweepers. But some of my Pokes will have to undergo a change of movesets once they reach D/P because of the Attack/Special split.

Bidfordun: You cannot change their natures once captured. However, you CAN manipulate it, in Emerald. Use a Pokemon with Synchronize. It'll attract more wilds with the same nature as the Synchronize Pokemon. Also, if you slap an Everstone to a Ditto/Female Pokemon while breeding with a Male Pokemon, you have a higher chance of getting the Ditto's/Pokemon's nature on the baby Pokemon.

Btw, shops do offer battery changing should your GBA internal batt die. However your game has to be ori.

EDIT: Checked Sunway. Sold out. Sorry.

Phoenix_Cypher_K1, according to u, wat nature suits the best for sceptile??
cos now my sceptile is modest (+sp att - att) considering D/P physical/special attack changes..i am going to breed it..
*
I'm not so sure myself because I'm not a Sceptile user. You could try something which gives +Atk - Spd...I think Sceptile has Agility to make up for it. I'd keep Sp Atk as neutral...

Only two consoles in the top 10, 7 NDS and 3 PS2....lol...

Yeah, I pity FF3, it's still hit with shortages.

For Pokemon its rather easy....Fakes are ALWAYS grey colour. Oris the carts are tied to their specific version colours. (Ruby/FR = Red, Sapphire = Blue, Emerald/LG = Green)

It's not really too early. It's out on 30/10/2006...which is roughly 1 1/2 weeks from now..

i will only buy ranger if we can get manafi egg, if not i will not buy it tongue.gif

Then pray that we get the Manaphy event downloaded (or rather, activated) here in Malaysia. It's highly unlikely though...

I'll pass on this...Ranger doesn't really appeal to me, and I don't think I lose out on anything if I don't buy it. Probably only Fione and Manaphy, but lets face it, a Pokemon Ranger event is pretty unlikely in Malaysia, and a Fione you can get from some lucky guy who has a Manaphy and who is willing to get Fione eggs for you.
