would it be advisable to take extended warranty for this new xps? eyeing at the mid range model but not sure if it's worth to add on the warranty.

depends on:
- how long you plan to use it for?
- what are you using it for (for wear and tear)
- budget?
- how mobile are you?
- computing knowledge

if you are a heavy user, then it is always worth imho

It should be for light usage only for the next 1.5 years. Assignments, research and light surfing... after that i'm not too sure. I already have a desktop so the laptop is more for mobility.

My main concern was the touch screen since it's still new in the market.

Other than that, i think Dell should be ok.

If worry bout the edge screen then test on samsung edge.. more or less same theory..

If u wan lasting for 4yrs above.. do like miong93 say.. get latitude...

But I suggest u wait for ppl review 1st...

Actually i read through a few reviews so far.... only complain was the new position of the webcam.

It's been a while since i've used laptops so i have no idea how long laptops these days last.

In that case i would just have the Dell NBD warranty for 2 years just to be safe and giving you a peace of mind (which is very important)
Personally all my laptops works well over the years without any problem but it may just be my luck.
