is it worth to buy?

if u are considering a mac, it is.
it is the premium alternative to the inspiron line with solid build quality and mobility.

but dont u think the price a bit too high meh... i7 5500u for Rm 4999....

wat does the edge screen benefit us user? look more like a fancy features to me....wat do u think?
*
weight, size, build quality, battery?
it is a premium grade, similar to business class laptops who are of lower spec, bulkier and pricier...

i dunno bout the new 1.. the 4th gen xps15 fullhd disappointed me...but qhd 1 was awesome... i means the display n touch screen.

if u base on weight, size n battery i total agree wif u... build quality i still lukewarm... my xps12 i5 soso only... mayb becoz i like steel type...

but price at rm4999 won't u consider new aw15 since it will be close for those 2...tat my dilemma
*
yup, as someone who travel a lot; having such a laptop is amazing especially with the claimed 15hrs battery life.

as for your complain about the build, it is in fact black aluminium. the only one better than it would be magnesium-lithium alloy which Lenovo is currently using.

the XPS series is never meant to be for gaming, Dell have Alienware for that market.

QUOTE(sheng291 @ Jan 8 2015, 09:04 PM)
again it subject to usage. if you are a gamer of course it is a piece of shit..

however if you are someone who travel frequently, need to do some small group presentation using a laptop..nid long battery hour..n nid to use windows..this is a beast..

in fact 256ssd+15hours battery life+UHD+gorilla glass+thin & light body...4.5k sounds reasonable for me

though i don't see any usage of edge screen as well.haha
*
as for the edge-2-edge, basically it allow a 13inch screen to be on 11inch body. how is tat a gimmick/ fancy feature? it is basically needed to get it into such an amazing form factor.

so u means its space saving?
*
a 13inch screen that is as small as/ smaller than a 11inch macbook air.
common sense if it is edge to edge, then the extra space would be gone and making the laptop small rite?
that is your answer.

---

i love how you commented about it being bad without even reading about it...
from it being aluminium built (with carbon fiber inside) to the small form factor (your so called gimmick edge-to-edge screen)...

would it be advisable to take extended warranty for this new xps? eyeing at the mid range model but not sure if it's worth to add on the warranty.
*
depends on:
- how long you plan to use it for?
- what are you using it for (for wear and tear)
- budget?
- how mobile are you?
- computing knowledge

if you are a heavy user, then it is always worth imho

It should be for light usage only for the next 1.5 years. Assignments, research and light surfing... after that i'm not too sure. I already have a desktop so the laptop is more for mobility.

My main concern was the touch screen since it's still new in the market.

Other than that, i think Dell should be ok.
*
In that case i would just have the Dell NBD warranty for 2 years just to be safe and giving you a peace of mind (which is very important)
Personally all my laptops works well over the years without any problem but it may just be my luck.

Spec and price wise, it is really good against the macbook. haha
But I think HP Spectre x360 also make a good competition, but maybe the battery life and thickness is not as good as those 2.
*
battery life wise, x360 beats xps and macbook air >.<
