The ASIC quality really doesn't mean anything much 
I know it's always been a debate and I've came across cards with higher ASIC that overclocks poorer than a lower ASIC. I couldn't be bothered as long as I get a good overclock.I have the same MSI reference 980 Ti and it does +290 Core, +460 Memory easily.
