Hey guys, just got a new Zotac GTX 960 non-AMP edition from Storekini. The temps maxed out at 81 degrees while my previous Asus AMD Radeon HD7850 maxed out at 63 degrees. Is it normal? What should I check?

QUOTE(alfiejr @ Feb 27 2015, 08:24 PM) normal i think, the cooler looks similar with the gtx 970 and the max temp hits 79'c. http://www.pcgameware.co.uk/reviews/graphi...gtx-970-review/ Alright thanks for the info. Not sure if the temps can be reduced by replacing the thermal paste.Try improve the airflow of your pc. |

QUOTE(alfiejr @ Feb 27 2015, 10:02 PM) Linus did a video on that few weeks back and the temp certainly drop by a few degrees. You can try using manual fan profile. I usually set to 50 percent Saw that video too. In fact I did it on my Asus HD7850 few years ago and it really worked. Guess I should get a new thermal paste soon |

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Mar 2 2015, 01:29 AM) download latest nvidia driver. I was asking about the GPU coolers. uninstall ure ati drivers then run display driver installer http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/displa...r-download.html shut down off ure comp install new card install nvidia driver. QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Mar 2 2015, 02:43 AM) Nope, different mounting. Is the temp that bad till you need to change the cooler? It is actually the normal temp due to the cooler design. I have also asked Cyntrix about this and they say its normal. But i just think that how can such an efficient GPU reach the temps of 83 degree. Just want to try switching the coolers since both the mounting holes on my Asus HD7850 and my Zotac GTX 960 looked similar.Care to post some benches? He's not asking how to switch the card. |

QUOTE(marfccy @ Mar 2 2015, 03:28 AM) it may look similar, but it doesnt. small things like 1-2mm away and then the cooler cannot fit with the PCB dee Well, thing is its not a reference cooler. Here is the link My previous Asus HD7850 max temps at 63 degrees though so I don't think my casing airflow is a problem.also, non-Titan reference cooler is well, bad. it gets the job done, but not that cool but do check with your casing airflow as well. i used to have reference GTX660, and max temps was only 82C (acceptable) QUOTE(Najmods @ Mar 2 2015, 07:47 AM) The cooler is really that bad? I thought GTX 960 doesn't produce much heat, review say that even the reference cooled cards are below 70C under load. AFAIK reaching that high temps (above 80C) means you lose boost speed. I think so. Other cards with non-reference cooler has much lower temps than mine Anyway you can't change the cooler like that, if its from older nvidia cards (say GTX 760, GTX 560) it might fit, but from AMD to nvidia it's nearly 100% unlikely it will fit. QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Mar 2 2015, 10:04 AM) No problem bro. |

QUOTE(marfccy @ Mar 2 2015, 03:53 PM) well, Zotac coolers are never known as darn good ones anyway but my point still stands, the PCB may not fit. ASUS custom design their PCBs alot (or maybe mostly on the high end stuff only) |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Mar 2 2015, 07:48 PM) Nope mine is the normal version . I agree with you that the gpu should not reach 80 degrees since this is a very power efficient card. |

Just wanna update about my Zotac GTX 960. I replaced the stock tim with Cooler Master X1 and looks like the temps is still the same. Zotac's cooler is not that good in dissipating heat. Will avoid Zotac in the future.
