For Shadow of Mordor @1080P you can definitely max out the graphics but just turn down the texture setting from ultra to high. For ultra texture setting the recommended vram is 6GB . The 970 is definitely a great card regardless of the memory issue. Plus the overclocking potential of this card pretty good too. I compare it with my overclock asus gtx 970 and the 780ti, the result is pretty close but the 780ti edges it due to high out of the box factory oc.
For GTA 5, by looking at the requirements the recommended graphics are hd7870 and the gtx 660. The 970 should perform well
Even changing the settings from ultra to high, It's really hard to see any differences. Better enjoy 60fps smooth experience
finally 60fps min in watchdog with two titan x sli @ 1462mhz 110pl default bios with everything cranked up in config file with txaa4x with textures also 1440. supersampling disabled.
i hate dunia, anvil engines. but they do look great. fc4 fairs a bit better than this. so now acu issue all their engines with gameworks.. need to use txaa. msaa things will get flaky.
Far Cry 3 was bad, but Far Cry 4 is quite good. At least performance scales with the graphic candies.
ACU looks great but run like shiet. AC Black Flag sucks too but AC Rogue ran really smooth, seems like fixed Black Flag.
So.. How's the performance of GTA V? If gooding , I'm thinking of buying it
I read some user's comments, it seems GTA V ran really well on Nvidia hardware. Radeons not that good but not sure because majority people reporting was Nvidia haha.
Btw u can run smaa?? I couldnt on tb at 1440p. Not enough vram I know that.
Hmmm fidelity n graphic watchdoggy wins. Scenes etc
Yes, just need to turn-off the Cache Spot Shadow Maps and Cache Sun Shadow Maps. These two are the culprit of the crazy VRAM usage. I think need min 8GB VRAM to use those. I only use SMAA and no other AA.

Got myself a used Gainward GTX 970 "3.5Gb" GPU a few weeks back (less than RM1k hehe..). Loving it ever since (only gaming at 1080p) -- tried on BF:Hardline and FC4, really smooth compared to my 680. Was doing spring cleaning on my desktop machine when I thought, hey, why not get a 970 for a nice boost in performance.
980 Ti is definitely coming... to counter AMD's Radeon 300, but in terms of cost (and my ageing i7-870 processor), I'll stay away for the time being until a big upgrade perhaps during 2016's Pascal, but for now, not bad for my 5-year-old PC.
better go for skylake CPU upgrade next hehe

Yeah, garage sales. These 970s get picked up really fast, so opportunity came and I managed to get one under RM1k.
I wouldn't recommend a GTX 960 simply because with just a slightly higher budget, you could get yourself a 970; better performance and 3.5Gb of video memory for reasonable future proofing. There are R9 290 Tri-xx's being offered too around the RM1k range, but personally, I would go for a 970.
On a different note, not sure if common among GTX 970s... but the HDMI (mini) on the Gainward GTX 970 just wouldn't output any video. Used a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI converter and worked like a charm (with audio too).
GTA 5 seem to be the 'it' PC game now (played it on my PS3), and the 970 apparently is neck and neck with the 980
The demo looked freakin awesome, almost like pre-rendered video in final fantasy games. The individual feathers, and the character animation and modelling
