Just bought GTX 680 for mere RM550, gotta say this old soldier still strong. Its much better value to buy these old flagship cards rather than buying new GTX 960 because it costs more (even reference one costs RM200 more let alone those custom cards that costs twice as much). People might argue about power consumption but GTX 680 isnt a power guzzler to begin with.
*
That's cheap for a second hand GTX680. rclxms.gif

Anyway, tomorrow is the announcement..on the "future of gaming" from NVidia.Kinda curious what's it gonna be about. tongue.gif

It is cheap, cant find a better offer than that. The card looks brand new too.

Most probably just announced 960Ti to screw up 960 buyer tongue.gif
*
Well,it still is "future of gaming" but with secret announcement about the GTX960Ti. laugh.gif

Tegra tx1
Grid gaming

hmm.gif Twice as fast as an XBox 360,and lower TDP.

Looks like NVidia are entering the console world. tongue.gif I thought it's the same thing, the older NVidia Shield..actually different. doh.gif

The grid thingy.

As expected, the Shield will also link to Nvidia's Grid cloud game streaming service, which will deliver games at 1080p and 60 FPS over the internet (so long as you have a 50 Mbps connection).

QUOTE(arifhasim85 @ Mar 4 2015, 01:42 PM)
yeah so it will have an actual 4gb that can be fully utilized. future 960 4gb owner will be happy with the card no doubt.. i wonder how nvidia will set the MSRP   hmm.gif
waiting for the day you bought an 8 core i7 5.0ghz with 2 of its cores only working at 1.0ghz.. and i will respond to you "our ram & hdd also the same so just forget it.. so apa lagi u mau?"  tongue.gif

Bro,imagine if that were to happen.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

how are theu going to price this model it? currently 2gb version is so near the 970  hmm.gif

And one of the downsides is that i'm sure it'll be priced over the R9 280X.. doh.gif From Asus,Gigabyte and MSI,i expect the price to be close to 1K. yawn.gif

It's not. Remember, gimping is officially an Nvidia feature now, straight from the CEO's mouth. tongue.gif

Inb4 the GTX980 is actually 970,970 is 960Ti Boost. laugh.gif

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Mar 8 2015, 11:22 AM)
Actually, the price doesn't 'increase'. It appears to be so........because our Ringgit Malaysia value is weakening..... cry.gif

In fact, the price for gtx 970 is dropping steadily worldwide.....

Anyway, get the Palit version. It is semi-fanless, but the maximum temperature before the fan starts to spin is quite high, around 70'C.
Not to mention it only uses 2 slots. Plus it is the highest factory overclocked among those 3.

The Gainward version use up to 3 SLOTS (2.5 slots be exact). My friend complained about it. Haha.....so much for the easily removable fan design.
EDIT:
For comparison, Asus GTX970 fan will spin once temperature reaches 67'C.

Important note. You have to know the segmented memory nature of GTX 970, go read the article at anandtech on GTX 970 memory partitioning issue.
Technically, gtx970 is a 3.5gb card because it can't access the remaining 0.5gb at same time when gpu is using 3.5gb. XOR situation. Go read the article it. (use google)

hmm.gif If it's dropping steadily worldwide, but why not here? hmm.gif

Because of 1MDB. It has RM42bil debt that can default anytime soon. Ringgit is plunging. Once default our ringgit will be 6 per 1usd. That time GTX970 will be RM2200.

I hope it won't happen. sweat.gif sad.gif

QUOTE(demonicslayer @ Mar 8 2015, 03:41 PM)
Actually, I think Ringgit weakening is partially due to our main export, petroleum. When our petroleum is selling well, the Ringgit wasn't that low. Just hope our government doesnt employ any banking strategy like in other countries... If that happens, u will wish that we never complaint in the first place.

I have read GTX970 issues from LINUSTech Tip before when it first appeared. Just that, I haven't really seen any graphic card which has a good perfromance/value. About Palit's, I noticed it consumed slightly more energy and produce more noise and temperature compared to some other brand's models. Besides, the OC seemed to be higher than other models. I noticed from most of the build by TristanX and Minecrafter, they usually focus on Leadtek GTX970 Hurricane and Gainward GTX970. TristanX did explained that the difference is about the size and OC from what I read. I prefer a cooler, energy saving model since my room is facing the afternoon sun and I dont think I want to sleep in a sauna if I decided to on my com 24/7...
*
So basically, the lower the prices of the petrol, the weaker RM is? hmm.gif

So since the GTX960 4GB cards are just out, do we have them here in Malaysia yet?

*
Even though it has 4GB,i expect the prices of the 4GB versions from the likes of Asus,Gigabyte and MSI to be priced around the cheapest GTX970 which costs RM1099 or even more than it.Not worth it. tongue.gif

Yeah, GTX 970 us much faster, why buy GTX 960 lol

Can just lower the texture setting if VRAM uses too much.
*
Well you know, most of the users out there just want the best they can get with their money,so since some people think:

The more the amount of vRAM = The better the performance.

doh.gif I guess that's what Asus,Gigabyte and MSI are hoping for? laugh.gif

I once knew someone who gave his 1gb GDDR5 GPU (can't recall but it was most probably a HD6670) to his brother, in order to buy a GT 630 4gb gddr3 thinking he was upgrading.

So yes some people do equate vram to overall performance of card. You can imagine the laughs I had, poor guy.

Well since the GTX 960 is a 1080p card and first came out with only 2GB, I'd imagine having a 4GB version would be splendid for games with extra textures like Skyrim HD with extra mods. Plus it's based on Maxwell 206 and since it's relatively new, I was thinking future driver updates would improve its performance. Price-wise if it's near to GTX 970 I can see why you'd recommend I take the 970 instead. Still the only reason I'm asking is because I see potential in the 960 being worth the money in the long run due to it's newer architecture.

Might as well wait for more news then.
*
One of the problems with GTX960 price is that there are 3 R9 280Xs in the RM800-900 range. doh.gif

Well 280x are not nVidia. Some people are weird and different from the rest of us. So we just accept them. Please don't doh.gif They will feel sad.
*
I can smell that the GTX960 will get a price cut to RM600-700,thus it gives an option for NVidia to release GTX960Ti. biggrin.gif

thats lowyat for you, thats why most enthusiasts go for other dealers for uncommon items

you wont get the latest stuff, but you can get close to it. closer than most Lowyat shops anyway

but im surprised lowyat shops doesnt have PCI-E SSDs hmm.gif

Viewnet, Jayacom, All IT are relatively big names there, they should have at least one or two models to cater for the enthusiasts hmm.gif
*
I checked Viewnet's price list,i saw the Plextor M6E Black Edition PCI-E SSD,but not sure if it's available at the shop. whistling.gif

Same thing goes to IdealTech, they've non black and black edition though. biggrin.gif

If you said finally a new Radeon flagship to replace 290x (single gpu of course) then make sense  rclxub.gif

Since the pictures in the link posted, saw another possibly an NVidia card without a name performing better than 280X. tongue.gif
