My friend's new C2D rig keeps bsod-ing and restarting when her little bro plays games and especially when he mashes the keyboard. They've already tried changing keyboard and I told her to update her gpu drivers but eh... I've no idea.

Added on December 25, 2009, 2:06 ami just a memory test using:
http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html

ran it for around 4hrs and didnt record any errors ... does this rule out faulty ram?
*
You can rule out possible faulty ram at the moment...
Can you list down your system specification ???
Need your latest dump file ----> C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini122409-06.dmp.

thanks man for helping us even on Christmas Day notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
i did an phoenix BIOS upgrade from v1.17 to v1.28, now the BSOD doesnt come out anymore, but i will continue monitor ...
could it be the wireless? ... coz the last few times with BSOD i was using wifi and now using cable ...
gonna test it later ...
both ram test and chkdsk also no problem ...

nonetheless,
here is my system specs .. old acer aspire 5540
T2300 1.66GHz
1gb ram
80gb hdd
dvdrom
wifi
etc

& my latest dump file ...
http://rapidshare.com/files/325724356/Minidump.rar.html

ps: my system eventlog got corrupted ... dunnno wat cause it, i just rename the it then now working like normal .. weird  rclxub.gif
*
All the minidump files error pointed to csrss.exe & ntkrpamp.exe which are the MS NT Kernel & System drivers...
Perhaps, you need to update your Windows via Windows Update... It might help with stability & conflict issue...
Just keep monitoring your system for a while using LAN cable....

I need help to diagnose this BSOD. It only happens when I change resolution or change refresh rate for my display. That includes when playing games that automatically changes my resolution as well. Have already tried removing the drivers, cleaning system up and then reinstalling the latest Catalyst 9.12. System however does not crash when I uninstall the display driver completely and running on the generic driver from Windows (but at very low resolution) does not result in a crash when I change resolution.

I'm using a Radeon 4850 display. My system is all stock no OC running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. My PC has absolutely no BSOD issue other than when I change resolution it'll BSOD right away.

Thanks in advance!

Run Windows built in memory test or MEMTEST with ONE stick of ram at a time to rule out the faulty ram...
Set the correct RAM voltage, speed, timings & IMC voltage to run 4 sticks of 2gb ram according to Corsair recommended spec...

QUOTE(fruxano @ Feb 22 2010, 07:27 AM)
had this BSOD nvlddmkm.sys for about a few weeks now. tried a few things with solutions from the net but to no avail. (e.g update gpu driver, reformat).

hopefully someone can help me to solve this

my laptop specs:

LG E500-S.APCBG
Intel Core 2 Duo T7250
GeForce 8500M G
2GB DDR2  Ram
Win Vista 32bit

*
BSOD error : PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50) ---> IMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sys ---> nvidia driver
BSOD error : VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116) ---> IMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sys ---> nvidia driver

- what have you change/install before the BSOD occur ???

Suggestion :
- check the system temperature
- run MEMTEST
- roll back to older nvidia driver

regarding this --> nvlddmkm.sys ---> nvidia driver ---> try below;
- uninstall all the nvidia drivers and delete the nvidia directory
- boot into safe mode (F8), locate nvlddmkm.sys and rename it to nvlddmkm.sys.old
- install the latest driver & restart

BSOD error : DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
BUGCHECK_STR: 0xD1 -----------> A driver tried to access an address that is pageable (or that is completely invalid) while the IRQL was too high.
IMAGE_NAME: viahduaa.sys ----> VIA audio chipset driver

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

@acousticaholic :
BSOD error : PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (4e)
BUGCHECK_STR: 0x4E_99 -----------> Typically caused by drivers passing bad memory descriptor lists.
IMAGE_NAME: memory_corruption

BSOD error : UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
BUGCHECK_STR: 0x7f_8 ---------> Bug check 0x7F typically occurs after you install a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or if installed hardware fails.
---------> A double fault can occur when the kernel stack overflows. This overflow occurs if multiple drivers are attached to the same stack. For example, if two file system filter drivers are attached to the same stack and then the file system recurses back in, the stack overflows.
IMAGE_NAME: win32k.sys
PROCESS_NAME: avp.exe --------------> Kaspersky Internet Security Suite

BSOD error : DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
BUGCHECK_STR: 0xD1 ------------> A driver tried to access an address that is pageable (or that is completely invalid) while the IRQL was too high.
IMAGE_NAME: ntkrnlmp.exe

BSOD error : PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
BUGCHECK_STR: 0x50 ------------> Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).
--------------> Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.
--------------> Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.
IMAGE_NAME: ntkrnlmp.exe

BSOD error : NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM (24)
BUGCHECK_STR: 0x24 -------------> One possible cause of this bug check is disk corruption. Corruption in the NTFS file system or bad blocks (sectors) on the hard disk can induce this error. Corrupted SCSI and IDE drivers can also adversely affect the system's ability to read and write to disk, thus causing the error.
-------------> Another possible cause is depletion of nonpaged pool memory. If the nonpaged pool memory is completely depleted, this error can stop the system. However, during the indexing process, if the amount of available nonpaged pool memory is very low, another kernel-mode driver requiring nonpaged pool memory can also trigger this error.
IMAGE_NAME: Ntfs.sys

- run MEMTEST
- scan HDD for any error/corrupted system files
- check the System Log in Event Viewer for error messages that might identify the device or driver that caused the error
