Tips to Survive Major Steam Sales

Rule #1:
From now until the LAST DAY of the sale, if a game is on sale as a daily deal or flash deal, you can buy it. If it is only "on sale" through the entire sale, pass. Do not buy. Save your money (you may need it).

Rule #2:
Check each day for the daily deals, and monitor flash deals. As games come up that you want, you can get them. Just continue to exercise self control for games that are not a daily/flash deal.

Rule #3:
You can purchase the large packs, such as the THQ pack or Square-Enix/Eidos pack at any time if you wish. It is extremely unlikely that those bundles will be discounted any further, even though individual games in those packs may become daily deals. If you want a bundle, go for it. Lots of games, excellent price.

Rule #4:
On the LAST DAY of the sale, Steam traditionally makes its daily deals an encore of the most popular daily deals from the previous days. Go nuts. Buy everything you wanted. Other games are almost never on the daily deals during the last day, at this point, it is safe to buy anything else you've been waiting on.

Nope, no more report boxes probably mods had responded to it.

Still, I reported my first post again and I saw the report box on top of my post. However, I could not see any other function on my post.

You should be worry more about receiving messages from you 'friend' asking you to click the picture link etc.
*
+1

That is my bigger concern actually which I think Valve should do something about hijacked accounts that is spamming links randomly to other people.

Invites are fine as you can easily reject them. Even sometimes i get level 30+ account with no mutual friends and came from countries that I dont know, I also tend to reject them cause I dont know what they want.

The most pirates content in australia was Game of Thrones in 2014.

So hotline miami 2 is trying to beat game of thrones this year?

This Grey Goo seems like a nice RTS...And Cheesenium already got it.

Any thoughts?
*
In short, very C&C in most ways but there are some good and not so good changes.

It probably one of the best RTS in recent years. Very well polished, runs well and its quite fun to play.

My main problem with it is, it has a rather annoying population cap.

If you are starving for RTS, go for it. Its the best RTS made since CoH2, arguably better than CoH2 for me.

from what ive seen so far, Grey Goo doesnt revolve around massing armies like SC2

more like tiny skirmishes and harrassing, and starving opponents of supply line
*
SC2 armies arent that large too.

Grey Goo's problem is, they choose to use the same population cap as SC2. I hit a pop cap limit yesterday and I cant even attack due to the absurdly low pop cap. I think its unlikely to reach that pop cap in MP.

All and all, its still a very C&C like RTS which is exactly what I want.

Now, bring on Act of Aggression. biggrin.gif

compared to SC2, Grey Goo armies are smaller biggrin.gif

the Goo faction is rather peculiar though. and like most RTS, there always have to have one faction that revolves around micro
*
Doubt so, SC2 army at max cap is even lesser than Grey Goo.

Grey Goo army production and movement speed is a lot slower than SC2 though.

Very tempted to pick up Homeworld Remastered now. It was my childhood and I pirated it. It is time to redeem my sins.

I can never forget how does the Ion Cannon sound in that game and also how does the Vagyr missile fly. Man, I miss that game.

Syukur got Steam Workshop too, hope Homeworld Complex will be ported over too.

Homeworld or Grey Goo better...
Don't "why not both" me, I want broke edi T^T
*
If you never played both, I say Homeworld then. Cheaper and its one of the best RTS ever made, along with Tiberium Sun, Dawn of War and Company of Heroes for me.

If you played Homeworld and wait a C&C style RTS, get Grey Goo. Its good but I think Homeworld is a better game by miles.

Not to mention Homeworld Remastered is 2 games in one then uses new netcode. On top of having Steam Workshop where I think good HW2 mods like Complex and FX Mod will be ported over easily.

Dreadnought looks like the space game i'm looking for. From the Grey Goo team pulak tu.

It is made by the people who made Spec Ops, published by Grey Box.

Not by the people who made Grey Goo, Petroglyph.

Visually impressive game but gameplay wise, looks pretty boring after they started to bring in usual stereotypes like sniper and healer into the game.

Looks good. Everyone at Pax South seems impressed, and didn't say boring. I'll take a thousand of people's opinion on that game any day.
*
It was an interesting idea until they showed those snipers ships and the healing ships. Since the initial cinematic trailer, I actually expected a game about slow moving starships slugging shots at each other with small fighters launched from it in a battle while you struggling to reroute power from one module to another and trying to align your broadside to your enemies. Not a seemingly huge ship with fairly fast moving speed which feels like a fighter in Star Citizen. Kinda like those old ship games like Battleship Midway.

I just want a game that is about huge ships destroying each other, not another Star Conflict with a different coat of paint where that game had a lot of issues with those sniper ships. They just sit in the spawn point sniping and contributing nothing to the match, despite that game is heavily objective based. Unlike shooters, those snipers ships were a pain in the ass in Star Conflict where they too much damage and extremely difficult to kill them when they are all camping on the spawn point.

I dont think everyone on PAX impressed. I seen far more negative comments on that game since its announcement while a lot of fears are confirmed in PAX. If it has functional subsystems and also a more in depth power system, color me interested but now, it looked like another TDM style F2P game that isnt any different from Star Conflict.

I am actually more excited about the episodic coop part than the TDM gameplay. It looks interesting but i think there is still a lot to do considering its pre-alpha.
