QUOTE(nexona88 @ Jul 6 2015, 06:01 PM) Zeti is widely regarded as one of the best central bankers in the world, but her term ends next year. Is there no possibility of an extension for her term ?Who will be the next head of Bank Negara? BNM is like the only national institution that's internationally recognized as being well managed, pretty thankful for that. |

QUOTE(langstrasse @ Jul 6 2015, 10:48 PM) Damn, does he have a say on the BNM governor post as well ? Too much power concentrated on one position is just a pure recipe for disaster. Well actually Yang di-Pertuan Agong the one who appoint the Governor (but would get "recommendation" from PM of Malaysia) |

QUOTE Malaysian central bank defends ailing ringgit amid political storm By Reuters / Reuters | July 7, 2015 : 7:10 PM MYT SINGAPORE (July 7): Malaysia's central bank intervened for a third successive trading day on Tuesday to support the ringgit currency, traders said, as corruption allegations swirled round Prime Minister Najib Razak, raising doubts over his grip on power. Thanks to Bank Negara's damage limitation, the ringgit has lost only 0.8 percent since the political storm broke on Friday, but it has weakened past an old currency peg of 3.80 per dollar, fixed in September 1998 during the Asian financial crisis and scrapped in 2005. http://www.theedgemarkets.com/my/article/m...political-storm |

Economy Thesis Question :-
Is weak currency = Boost TOURISM, Surplus Export > Import ? Any idea? Many S'porean / tourists like to spend their money here like KING, while local ppls less travel out or buy imported gadgets. Hence, more surplus inflows > outflows. I agree not to believe, but many tutors gave credit of weak currency benefits. Think from ECONOMY PERSPECTIVE , not politic . You has returned your economy paper to your teacher? |
