Hi All,

I'm about to install CCTV and was wondering what type of monitor should I get to pair with the CCCTV. Am doubtful if there is any specific type of monitor with specific connector that can only be used for CCTV.

Need your advice. First timer here.

There are 3 types of output from the DVR which is BNC (Coaxial output which could be connected to the Yellow RCA input of TV), VGA and HDMI.

The older generation of DVR would only provide BNC and VGA but the newer generation of DVR would come with VGA and HDMI. It really depends on the CCTV DVR that you are purchasing.

if you plan to have the monitor turn on 24/7 viewing the CCTV, then it would be advisable to use LCD rather than Plasma image retention issue of the Plasma.

Any TV or LCD monitor could be use for CCTV application for home or office.

Hi, many thanks for your advice. I've noticed that the electrician (who is also the CCTV guy) had pulled a black wire (without any plug attached to the wire) to one side of the wall of which the monitor will be hanged. So is it alright if I just purchase any monitor (with VGA input) regardless of how the electrician runs the wire?

I'll buy LCD/LED monitor by the way and plan to use it 24/7 for CCTV viewing.

if he has pulled a black wire without any termination, this means that he has pulled a Coaxial cable. You would need to purchase a TV instead of computer monitor as you would need the yellow RCA input in order to view the CCTV.

This is so tricky coz i've told the electrician that I would place a monitor there (at the wall). Another thing is... I've also requested that I would want to view the CCTV at my PC. Black wire was also found near my PC area. Does it mean that I have to purchase a TV for my PC instead of a monitor? Am not used to having a TV as my PC monitor.

you dont need to connect the DVR's video output to you PC.

ALL DVR in the market r able to do remote viewing either by Internet Explorer or by dedicated Centralized Management Software. you only need to connect the DVR to your network and you would be able to view it through any computer or mobile phone. All installer are able to do this setting for you.

if you are within your own network, you only need to key in the DVR's IP address into your web browser and you would able to view, playback and even do minor setting of the DVR including backup of video.

I see. The thing is.. the monitor (which will be hanged on the wall) is a standalone device and will be placed in a separate room from the DVR. I wanted it solely to view cctv only.

BAD COMPANY = don't use them www.malaysiacctv.com
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their company offers good deal but there is a catch. Low quality product that will spoil in months. Their wiring isn't done properly, rewire yes on 1 particular machine. Then we have another major issue, the cctv couldn't get online. Out of 12 months in a year, I can probably see 3 months and another story crops up and takes months for them to come. He is going to say he is somewhere else, he is in another town, another city but he promised you everything.

I've gave him 2 office to do it with promise of others, I guess you pay peanuts you get monkeys. This are really unprofessional group of people. Horrendous services.
