so R9 380X will be out on Q2 2015... and is 45% faster R9 290X...  sad.gif

Any idea how much it will sell for? I've been looking for an upgrade for my 7850 and as an AMD fanboy, its natural that I'll be looking for and AMD card. But right now nothing beats the GTX970 for my budget and I wonder if it is worth the wait.

Whild the TDP is not really an issue for me, I have only 2 slots to fit in the card since I got a PCIe sound card. And right now most 290x will occupy more than 2 slots.

Judging from the allegedly leaked 300 series benchmarks, it seems that the TDP is quite low and by right a 2 slot cooler should be enough.

Then again, it will only ship out in Q2, I don't know if I can wait that long and I don't know it will be justified since I have no plans to go beyond 1080p 60Hz gaming.

Any thoughts?

I am using this mobo:

http://www.gigabyte.my/products/product-pa...spx?pid=4491#ov

I don't remember it quite clearly but I remember that the sound card is so close to the GPU and don't think anything thicker than 2 slot cooler can fit.

But I will check it once I get home.

So you guys are saying that my PCIe sound card can be fitted into the PCIe slot meant for GPU? I never tried that..

Another speculation...hopefully it is not entirely true. Cause if it is, no use for me to wait for the 300 series since the real upgrade would be out of my budget...and if they still rebrand Hawaii, I can get it now anyway.

What say you?

I do agree that the 290x is still beastly and supports most of the next gen features. What other options for the 8gb that we have? So far only seen the sapphire one. Upon googling, XFX and MSI are also having the 8gb version but not available here.

Another rumor from a fairly famous site:

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-radeo...a-is-395x2.html

Seems like Grenada is true...but aimed at the 980 rather than 970...which is good enough for me if the price is like the current ones...wishful thinking.

biggrin.gif Are you guys excited over it?

If it is priced right and with good enough performance bump, I am excited. I have been holding out to buy a new GPU since the 280x and hopefully the wait will be worth it.

Are you some PR guy from AMD?

I have this idea that if your monitor only can go 60Hz, then just cap the fps limit to 60 and conserve energy =P

Not sure how true is this though haha.

No rebranding...if this is true, I think it is worth the wait...but pls AMD don't make us wait for too long. I've been holding on an upgrade from my 7850 for quite some time now.

Would appreciate a link...I might have missed it. Although I am only using an old 7850.

Titan-X is just to screw the early adopters. But the ones who bought will be all defensive about it wink.gif

I find that most of the time, IdealTech's prices are a bit more than the rest.

Since we already know the prices, just left with the benchmarks. Although zhen^wei hinted that Nvidia won this round yet again, I'd like to see how far is the difference.

I am still using my aging 7850 so I am certainly upgrading. Looking at the price range of 1.5-2K. Fits nicely for me.

Maybe currency exchange is the culprit. But from /r/Amd it seems like the retail price for the XFX that leaked is around USD440.

Ya...too expensive. Sub 400 is kinda reasonable though. Peeps at /r/Amd also mentioned that Best Buy price is always on the higher side as compared to newegg.

Tech Armory stated 2.2k for Fury and 2.7k for Fury XT.

If this is true, I will be going for Fury...should be a good compromise no? Since the 390x is already reaching 2k...
