Despite the recent release of GTX 960, R9 285 is still the best performance-to-price card out there.

Do you think my built in R7 on my A10 7850K can play games like Witcher 3 and GTA V?

I think i can overclock the iGPU and APU speed a little bit since my setup is quite similar to the person who's uploaded the GTA V clip above. But the problem is the stock cooler become extremely noisy and bothersome after overclocking.

The concept and technologies behind AMD's APU already impressed me. Imagine what can be achieved in few more years. Maybe iGPU will finally be a very viable alternative to the discrete GPU.

This is my setup:
Attached Image

AMD A10 - 7850K ( CPU OC'ed to 4.2 GHz | iGPU OC'ed to 1028 MHz)
ASUS Crossblade Ranger FM2+ Motherboard
2 x 4GB G.SKILL RipjawsX F3-2400C11D-8GXM (D.O.C.P. 2400 MHz)
FSP Hexa+ 550W

All of these for just below RM 1.5k, pre-GST. Or maybe even RM1k is enough if you swap the performance DRAM and gaming mobo to the conventional one.

Reasonable performance for gaming in 900p and 720p on lowest to medium settings, solid 60 fps on highest for certain titles from few years back.

ps: just realized some of the price hike after GST are extraordinary. Pretty sure 6% wouldn't add up that high.

Just downclocked the CPU to the base clock 3.70 GHz again as i don't feel it made too much difference in real-time performance. Hopefully the temperature read will be more reasonable this time.

hmm.gif  eh By the LOOK local seller selling  Gaming Notebook/ Graphic Cards, Price increase...  GST is not only excuses now US currency hm i thought x3.8 but some how seller x4...  so i aspect price will be RM3K+  R9 390x
i agree with you on APU.. saw my buddy playing GTA V on his A10 7850K.. price he spend on it..(my i7+2 gpu+ 4k lcd cost me nearly rm 8K) make me feel like Goat with Phd... x  baa baaa haha

and yeah i also share your Skeptical price BOOST on seller threads... 6% not supposse be  16% increase... yet they got USD currency exchange.. if i count x3.8 they seem to count x4...

Very decent performance for an iGPU. Unlike the variant of Intel HD, I don't think anybody will totally ignore it. But right now it's not really viable since the price to performance still can't beat a combination of an affordable Intel i3 + any mid-tier discrete GPU at the same cost.

..actually I have a spare GTX 750Ti, GTX 970 and an i7 lying somewhere, but decided to go with APU just because I love technology and I'm sold on the concept behind it. And since i'm no longer gaming extensively, I think I just found a new setup for couple of years down the line.

Didn't have experience with high end GPU back in the day, except for S3 Trio 3D 4 MB (pretty sure that's not even a high-end GPU back then).

Still remembered being fascinated by the power of my cousin's Matrox Mystique. Never seen anything like pod and NFS II.

Just found out why my internet is slown down and regularly losing packet in past few days; it's AMD Quick Stream. AMD Catalyst is bundled with plenty of software, but most of them is borderline useless.

Where did you found the AMD Quick Stream? hmm.gif

Bundled with the AMD Catalyst Software. Maybe only available for few selected procs / GPU model only.

I am more interested in their next generation APU. So much potential there. Running Kaveri here, thinking of getting Godaveri or Athlon X4 870K for my secondary build. I think low - mid end CPU market are definitely theirs.

Yeah definitely Gameworks does have some unwanted issues on AMD card. But i'm not going to blame the game studio for implementing it. Without Nvidia money and marketing, probably some games wouldn't even come to existence.

Got 40 fps+- maxed out settings in Dead Island Riptide on 1080p with my overclocked iGPU A10-7850K. Seriously this little fella is impressive.

Did you use ddr3 2133 ram? That thing needs minimum that to perform well.

Bu the way 7850k iGPU is faster than GTS450 and HD4850, that speaks of the performance

Yep.. paired it with the cheapest 2x 4GB DDR3 2400 MHz RAM that i found (G.Skill RipjawsX).

Resident Evil 6 maxed out on 720p or 900p also is very playable, > 30 fps.

Don't care much about the performance, it perform as it is supposed to. Just want to get the card because of the concept, technology and innovation behind it.
