What was the price?And why ot the Lightning edition?

Can't find Lightning and i'm already at the limit of my budget, if wait any longer i'll probably use the money to buy other stuffs. The price was RM1,199.

Unless our friend is going for 4K, I think 4GB is just fine. Even then, I bet a single 290X with 8GB would even struggle at 4K, not due to VRAM run out, but already run out of GPU processing power.

Not true. DirectX 12 will increase 290x processing power 5 times.

Now still DX11 la bro. So far a number of reviews did not quite indicate large benefits from the extra 4GB.

I think review does not do it correctly.

They need to load high texture that fill up 8GB of VRAM.

Then run it on 290X and 980.

I'm sure 290x will trump 980.

I think high texture is not mainstream, but more of a mod. Most average gamers would not likely use high texture packs etc.

DX12 not yet out.. all out is rumor.. and Window 10 first.. (or win 8.2 lol) at moment Mantle is closes DX12 comparison on performance boost it give to GCN core.. and on Mantle it seem to increase the minimum Fps.. not much on Average FPS..

I'm not really a fan of the small fans pun intended and the cooling performance not that great iirc. I like the aesthetic though.

The R9 290X Gaming is fitted with old Twin Frozr IV HSF, it wasn't really meant to handle the heat produced by R9 290X but at least it's quiet.

I'm not sure if new GPU need time for the thermal paste to cure but after few hours of benching i noticed the max temperature is lower than my initial test.
Also thanks to the super quiet fan, i can set an aggressive custom fan curve which give me better peace of mind compare to stock fan profile.

In Heaven 4.0, max 80c with OC'ed to 1150/1500. Max fan speed=80%, just slightly louder than my Hyper 212 Evo.
