Think like this, if a processor is launched after the mobo, the mobo's bios had no info and hence no idea on what exactly it is running, thus it won't boot.

Such problem will only occur when new CPU/refresh is launched and backward compatible to older gen mobo.

ah ic, i understand what you mean, so next time if i ever buy a older mobo, i just go to the mobo`s company then go to their driver download for that particular mobo and dl the Bios and save it to a pendrive and plug and play to the mobo USB and poof its done ? =X

It is call flashing bios.

Not every mobo can be flashed easily without entering post, so it can be quite a hassle sometime.
