i7 4790K.Games are getting demanding on the CPU side,heck,the Witcher 3 recommended CPU requirement is an i7 3770/AMD Phenom II X4 940..

a friend of mine also kena like you, he upgraded gpu memory just to play tomb raider 2 in windowed mode @ 320 x 400 res at software mode. I was using 3dfx voodoo2 that time can up 800 x 600 in hardware mode 

voodoo 2  out 1999- 2000  ? cause i buy voodoo 3(2000 version Pcie ) buy 2002  the gpu i need to add memory 1996-97 era

my fren using ancient intel mmx, mine at that time using pentium 2 266mhz, oced to 400mhz cooled by table fan 

My first PC is Intel 386, 2MB RAM and 100MB HDD IINM, comes with 5.25" and 3.5" floppy disk drives, running MS-DOS and win 3.1. No sound card/
Actually not my PC, but my parents bought for their work.

Then after many years got a pentium 3 533Mhz, I learnt from surfing internet on 56kbps modem, overclocked it to 733Mhz. That time the shops at kota kinabalu didn't even sell any aftermarket CPU coolers and I DIY another fan to blow into the CPU fan and cooler to make 733Mhz stable. No BIOS overclock, have to do it via motherboard's physical FSB switch and controlling the FSB multipliers on RAM and AGP. Upgraded GPU from Savage 4 to Geforce 2 MX 400, modded into quadro via soldering 

After that PC kaput then Pentium 4 1.7Ghz + Radeon 9000. I was Nvidia fan all that time but bought Radeon because better value.

Oh and yes, R9 295X2 is plenty powerful these days and at RM 3k+ or so I think it's pretty good, though you can get GTX 970 SLI and probably outperform it.

  i dunno man.... all this wait.. make my urge move over craving to buy new car rather new gpu...

If it's OEM only = It's like the GTX760Ti.
