QUOTE(llk @ Jan 27 2015, 07:13 PM) U may be right, thats why i still considering 290X lightning. even I havent completely ruled out GTX 980. My plan if I go for either 290X, since it is priced dirt cheap now, i buy one while invest some of my fund onto PSU making sure I wont be worried at my rig under powered in the future, then i make another upgrade after 2-3 years depend on game development. If i go for GTX 980, no need to upgrade my PSU all around, use it for more years only upgrade. This post has been edited by wongkoewei: Jan 27 2015, 07:26 PM |

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jan 27 2015, 06:33 PM) ooo.. so sad... I go click buy... then they cancel my order Sorry didn't noticed you live in Penang. I almost go to Penang island to buy computer hardware but last minute I found what I'm looking for at the computer store near my house. 8GB card is rare though. Maybe it's hard to find one there but it never hurt to check it out yourself.I believe only 290X got 8GB. Unless I'm wrong... lol yeah, gonna go komtar this weekend... |

QUOTE(llk @ Jan 27 2015, 08:42 PM) Everything is destined to be obsolete~ even buying 380X, it will be obsolete in 2 years time. of coz it depend on ones sense of 'outdate-ness', 290X maybe replace with newer and more capable model, but it doesn't mean it will simply 'outdated' by my mean, I guess it still perform as high end card for at least 2 years . just like HD 7970, it still lives and staying relatively relevant till today by the name of R9 280X, i guess still no one will say 280X are obsolete by now right? Personal view,,, This post has been edited by wongkoewei: Jan 27 2015, 09:01 PM |

After 2 years old, only very few games able to use more than 2GB with my 7950 without crapping out the FPS. Personal view,,, 8GB VRAM probably make sense after DX12 imo. |

Yeah... they fend pretty good, I don't think their GPU are anyhow bottlenecking, but from what I observed, older card or cards with 2GB VRAM showing their 'age', if i can call that.
My experience, one time I deliberately set watch to highest setting, what i found was the VRAM are all filled up (1.9/2.0GB) but the GPU never over 40% usage, mostly hovering between 25 - 33% |

Its all depends on to what extent u can compromise with the graphic setting, to me i prefer everything set to ultra with 60fps

QUOTE(wongkoewei @ Jan 27 2015, 09:48 PM) Same here, but since I'm not upgrading every year so i guess i cannot expect my card will perform like new gen after some time. Another option for 290X 8GB, but unsure local distributor will bring in or not?http://videocardz.com/54768/sapphire-adds-...ith-trix-cooler |
