From GTX 660 + S2340L,
is this the right time to jump on either gtx970 + gsync monitor (AOC gsync, ROG swift is OOB now) or Jump to freesync + amd (by comitting to AMd GPU first)? as im getting the limit of gtx 660 now. running at 99% when gaming even when not at full setting (archeage). or wait till the tech a bit more mature (how long?) and change to Ultrsharp (U2414H/U2515h) monitor? please note that im not professional, and casually edit pics. Currently, im not sure if i would appreciate the high refresh rate (as i havent try) or good colour reproduction (S2340L is my first IPS monitor). [WTRent/Try] ASUS ROG swift paired with mid end gpu. |

QUOTE(TristanX @ Feb 12 2015, 11:32 AM) Can you afford RM2.7k Asus ROG 27" Gsync monitor? OOB = Out of budget. but still, if its totally worth it, i will just get the swift first and use it on gtx 660, upgrade GPU later. What is your full PC spec? Yeah, GTX970 is a good buy. It will boost the performance significantly. Current spec CPU - i5 4690k + CM Neptune 240M MOBO - Asus z97 Pro Gamer GPU - Galaxy gtx 660 RAM - Kingston HyperX 4gb X 2 (Blue colour) PSU - Enermax Naxn+ 620W SSD - Crucial Mx100 256gb HDD - 2tb WD Blue Casing - Corsair 300R Monitor - Dell S2340L |

QUOTE(TristanX @ Feb 12 2015, 11:43 AM) does high refresh rate improve the experience? for you at least. QUOTE(biggerman88 @ Feb 12 2015, 11:48 AM) My tangan also gatal2 nak beli ROG swift, but never found it in my conscious to justify the price.. yes. you totally get what I feel now. it's somehow gatal2 tgn matter also. anyway, 4K is absolutely no for me for now. I think need to wait until the monitor price and gpu performance is right for 4k. Kalau ade kesabaran dlm jiwa. Wait for a card that is is good enough to power a 4k, and buy 4k monitor + GPU then. Again, IF. |

Hello sifus, what to look for when buying RAM? Will be there any performance gain in gaming/video editing when buying high clocked ram?
Cos, if not, i might be going for 16gb dual channel and just pick anything that are nice to my eyes. I mainly want to change my ram for colour matching (either black/Red). now im using Kingston HyperX Genesis 4GBX2 1600mhz OCed at 2400mhz. Pc Spec : i5 4690k (Oced at 4.6ghz) + Asus Z97 pro Gamer |

QUOTE(TristanX @ Apr 6 2015, 04:41 PM) No idea for Xeon on Intel XMP. I do know the motherboard supports. Gigabyte H97-HD3 motherboard - RM359 - does this motherboard support xmp, if yes, then all good to get eg : Avexir Blitz 1.1 at 2400mhz?Asus G-Sync monitor? Not worth it. You will end up with lower spec How about these? Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM900 Coolermaster Hyper 212X - RM159 Gigabyte H97-HD3 motherboard - RM359 Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM229 MSI GTX970 4GB DDR5 OC Tiger - RM1339 Liteon 900S 256GB SSD - RM399 (from Viewnet) Seagate SV35 2TB hard disk - RM300 Seasonic M12 II Evo 620W power supply - RM379 (from Viewnet) Corsair spec 02/03 case - RM207 Corsair K70 - RM450 Asus PG278Q G-Sync monitor - RM3099 RM7820 total (Jayacom prices) n thanks for the prompt reply. i just added some infos on he wish to have. added : he also want black n red colour motherboard note : its just my recomendation for him to get g sync, if its worth it. not he insist tho. QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Apr 6 2015, 05:04 PM) Yes that mobo supports XMP, but getting a higher frequency and performance RAM won't have much performance differences in real world unless you are doing benchmark on it, but if you like the design then you are good to go Thank you for your input.Yeap, that RAM is just for Looks. Intel Core i7 4790K - RM 1329 Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 - RM 679 Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM x1 - RM 229 Leadtek Hurricane GTX980 4GB GDDR5 GPU - RM 2179 Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 399 WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 199 Seasonic M12 II Evo 620W PSU - RM 379 Corsair K70 RGB - RM 680 (Estimated) Corsair Hydro H100i AIO - RM 499 Fractal Design R4 - RM 450 (GBros price) Dell U2414H - RM 979 Total: RM8001 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST) Monitor is just my own preference as U2414H is a good quality IPS monitor, you can choose other monitor with low input lag if you wish. QUOTE(TristanX @ Apr 6 2015, 05:05 PM) I guess he gonna pay for it. Thanks, yeah, both Terence_nwb's and yours are good build for the price.Try Gigabyte H97 Gaming 3. That is red and black. Yes, H97 supports XMP. Some refinement Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM900 Coolermaster Hyper 212X - RM159 Gigabyte H97 Gaming 3 motherboard - RM379 Avexir Blitz 4GB DDR3-2400 x2 - RM319 (estimated) MSI GTX970 4GB DDR5 OC Tiger - RM1339 Liteon 900S 128GB SSD - RM249 (from Viewnet) Seagate SV35 2TB hard disk - RM300 Seasonic M12 II Evo 620W power supply - RM379 (from Viewnet) Corsair spec 02/03 case - RM207 Corsair K70 RGB - RM680 Asus PG278Q G-Sync monitor - RM3099 RM8010 total (Jayacom prices) If I were you, I would pick Terence_nwb's spec for your friend. |
