My Budget less than rm3k excluding monitor and speakers. Just cheap reliable wired basic gaming keyboard and mouse enough.

Would plug to LED tv samsung or lg. Why monitor still preferred when there's bigger hd led?

Is Amd FX8350 @4ghz good rm649 or intel i5 4460 @3.2ghz rm623 or i5 4590 @3.3ghz rm679? No clocking.

I need only 8gb ram and 1 gpu, moba doesn't need too many slots. Just more usb ports. Long term reliability and able to withstand heat priority as no aircond here. Asus, gigabyte or msi?

ATI Radeon r9 280 ddr5 3gb 384bit or nvidia geforce gtx760 or gtx960? Asus or MSI brand, any difference between these 2 brands in terms of performance? Need it for gaming and watching videos.

PSU sifu advice go for quality ones like corsair, is 650w enough for AMD no clocking? Or should i go for gigabyte higher end at similar price?

Memory prefer kingston hyperX 2400mhz XMP beast 8gb rm305.

Hdd WD black 7200rpm 2tb at rm440.

Heatsink is vital since no aircond. No watercooling or liquid. Which is good? Expensive corsair or coolermaster is fine? What do they use? Vacuum drive fan?

Get Intel Core i5 4460, it beats AMD in gaming. As for brand, Asus, MSI and Gigabyte are "premium" brand in Malaysia here and tend to have higher "premium" price compared to other brands so if you are on tight budget, just get the cheaper brand and variant, it will just do the job fine, performance difference is small. As for PSU, for non oc build and Nvidia 9xx series card, 500W is already enough. And you don't need performance RAM, it won't help much in terms of performance, just get the value RAM. WD Black is overpriced, for 2TB, I would go for Seagate Barracuda, much cheaper. And lastly, if you are not going to oc, stock cooler will do the job fine but if you want it to run cooler, air cooler like CM Hyper 212X is a good choice.

The prices for the parts you stated above are outdated, hard to find those items at those prices now.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 719
Asrock B85M-HDS - RM 264
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 229
Leadtek GTX960 2GB GDDR5 Hurricane GPU - RM 849
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD - RM 299
Seasonic M12II EVO 520W PSU - RM 299
CM Hyper 212X - RM 169
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139
Logitech Wired MK100 combo - RM 39

Total: RM 3006 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

Very good and detailed info, thanks a lot.

Price of hardware went up becoz of gst sad.gif

Yes, i shall go for intel then.

1 more question, between premium hd led tv vs high end monitor, which is better? Is the monitor using hdmi or dvi plug?

I will go for monitor because I have bad experience with HD TV, the text is not clear and the ppi is way lower than monitor which hurt my eyes. Low and mid end monitor normally have VGA, DVI, some of them have HDMI, higher end monitor will have DisplayPort. If you are using premium HD TV then I think it should be ok, just don't sit too near to it.

Thanks Terence, noted on the radiation that hurts eyes from tv.

it beats the GTX960 n the R9 290x is slightly lower than GTX970

R9 280<GTX960~R9 285<r9 280x<R9 290<R9 290X~GTX970

get a 600watt atleast to power up R9 280 above,
amd is quite power hunger

get 2nd if u want cheap,
or

see my siggy.....have to take risk using thermaltake 730w se powering powerhunger 2x8pin asus HD7970 GHZ,
so far so good

Unlike cpu, when comes to gpu, it's quite confusing on specs. Take only ati radeon card sapphire brand to compare the few models it offered. The R9 280 comes with 3gb DDR5 and 512bit but why is it cheaper than some R9 with only 2gb DDR5?

For non~water cooled heatsink, what do they use? Just fans right? Some can reach more than rm300. Are they mini aircond?

R9 280 comes with only 384 bits and I don't see any 2GB R9 card is more expensive than it.

About the aftermarket cooler, some of them are having more heat pipes which is more efficient in cooling the processor, some are expensive due to brand and the design.

Thanks again Terence.

Sorry, i meant not water cooled heatsink. I am not convinced with water~cooled as i worry it might have leakage or water pump faulty when old like radiator and hoses in cars.

Yes I know you are not talking about water cooler, the heat pipe I mentioned is something like this

The amount of heat pipe (bronze color) on the heatsink plays on important role in heat dissipation.
