Thanks alot for the recommendation bro! rclxms.gif

The CM Seidon 120v @ RM 179 is from LingLoong

One question though, why z97 pro gamer over z97 SLI krait? The price difference is RM 563 vs RM 663.

Hey, I have a PC that I'd like to check my specs with. This PC was previously running on high i7 & GTX 560Ti GPU. However, it was hit with lightning and the GPU & processor was burnt.

I got it repaired for urgent use with a downgrade. But now I'd like to use some parts and just upgrade certain ones on it. Any help would be highly appreciated.

This PC will be mainly intended on using it for 1080p movies, surfing, documents and occasional light gaming.

The specs on this rig is:

Mobo: ASUS H61M-K (bought new)
CPU: i3-3220 at 3.3GHz (bought new)
GPU: nVidia GeForce 210(Took this out of a previous PC I had lying around for temporary use)
RAM: 8GB (using old ones that was packed in this PC)

I can't locate the model of the PSU cause I can't locate the box nor the writing on the unit itself. But judging from the previous build, I'd assume that the PSU would not require any upgrading.

I'm looking forward to making small adjustments (most probably to the GPU).

Could someone tell me what upgrades can be made at a low budget to increase the usage of this PC?

I also intend on getting a monitor upgrade to the Dell S2415H.

Thank you for the help, in advance.

Ah i see...will consider it.

The dilemma now is:

1) Gainward GTX970 Phantom (RM 1249) vs Gainward GTX970 Reference (RM 1149)

(Price quoted from IdealTech PC)

2) ASUS Z97-Pro Gamer (RM 663) vs MSI Z97-SLI Krait (RM 563)
(Price quoted from C-zone)

Any budget in mind? For about RM500, can consider Sapphire R7 260X, RM499.

No SSD? I suggest ditching the Seidon 120V and go with stock cooler first. Then use your surplus budget to swap out the WD Blue 1TB for a Liteon S900 240GB, RM379.
*
But will stock cooler be enough? Planning to get some overclocking.

Budget is flexible. However, my main output for the budget would be for a monitor upgrade.

Is there any lower end GPU than the R7 260X? Something around RM300?

Not looking for a GPU to game with, anyways. Just an upgrade cause the current one is really old and it isn't holding up.

If oc, your processor will overheat, need to use aftermarket air cooler or liquid cooler.

If no oc, stock cooler will run fine but expect some noise when it runs full speed.

R7 240 and R7 250 are both within that RM 300+/- range.

I see.. will get a proper cooler then.

1 question though, deciding on whether to get Gainward GTX970 Phantom or GTX970 Reference. Heard they say Reference is not really well-built and have issues with their fan. Phantom has better fan but is very bulky..takes up 3 slot and makes SLI in the future difficult.

Any opinion on this? hmm.gif

Yea the 3 slots really headache sometimes if your chassis doesn't have many expansion slot, but for me I will go for Phantom version due to its aftermarket cooler and design since the price difference is not very big, but if you are going to SLI soon, reference model is better due to its reference blower cooler.

Can try Sapphire R7 250, RM329. The Dell S2415H is a good choice.

The R7 250 will be great.

For the monitor wise, is the EW2440L as good as S2415H?

Around 5-6k. Mainly for gaming. No hardwares because I never own a rig. Recommend me a case? Prefer Cooler Master case notworthy.gif
I think better get parts first because I'm leaving for college in 3 months. Must be troublesome to post the case laugh.gif
