maybe it too soon for now , change of plan . a rig that simply manage to hover 60fps on GTA V on 1080p? should be much lower then 5k no? 3k-ish?

???that is ur entry level,
it is playable, just the fps will drop a bit, wont be a big issue running 4k if u get a monitor on that

GTA V is poorly optimize, even GTX980 would struggle on it for full setting,
if wanted oni for satisfactory 1080p ultra setting, GTX970 shud do very2 gud for u
*
How is GTA V poorly optimized?IMO,they optimized it well for the PC version compared to GTA IV,in which PC port sucks. nod.gif

This is at 2560x1600,but if at 1080p,surely higher FPS.My prediction would be 50-60FPS for GTX970.

I see. How good is r9 280x in comparison to other graphic cards in the price range. Will a true 500w power it up?
*
Beats the GTX960.

It'll be really risky.Get at least a good quality 600W and above PSU,like Seasonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze RM319. wink.gif

R9 280 comes with only 384 bits and I don't see any 2GB R9 card is more expensive than it.

About the aftermarket cooler, some of them are having more heat pipes which is more efficient in cooling the processor, some are expensive due to brand and the design.
*
There is actually,the R9 285.

Hello, I'd like to ask.

What do I get if I want a gaming PC at the budget of RM2000?
*
If only the rig.

Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHz RM676.28
Asrock H81M-VG4 RM178.08
Sapphire R7 265 Dual-X OC 2GB GDDR5 RM581.94
Corsair Value RAM 4GB DDR3 1600MHz RM124
WD Caviar Blue 1TB RM199
FSP Hexa+ 550W RM199
Thermaltake Versa H25 RM135
Total:RM2093.30
Prices with cents are from Jayacom@LYP,the rest are from Viewnet@LYP. smile.gif

Can cut cost by going with FSP Hexa+ 450W RM159 Palit GTX750Ti 2GB GDDR5 RM567.10.I assume that's the StormX Dual or the StormX OC. wink.gif

for limted budget, it is most wise u go for 2nd hand r9 280x or HD7970GHZ, u can get as cheap as <RM750 with about 1year more warranty
*
But using FSP Hexa+ 550W to power one of those isn't recommended yo. sweat.gif

Hello sifus, need help build my gaming pc rig.

Budget] rm4k - 5k (including win 8.1 or win 7 )

[Purpose] Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor

[Monitor resolution] 1080p (Might want to go into 1440p in the future)
[Personal preferences]
-GTX 980
-intel i7 4690k ,
-16gb of ram
-120 gb of ssd and 1 tb or 500gb of HDD

TY very much sifus rclxms.gif smile.gif  smile.gif
*
4690k isn't an i7..it's an i5.

Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz RM954
Asrock H97-Pro4 RM348.74
Leadtek GTX980 Hurricane 4GB GDDR5 RM2179
Corsair Value RAM 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RM229 x2 = RM458
WD Caviar Blue 1TB RM199
Liteon 900S 128GB RM269
Seasonic M12II Evo 520W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular RM299
Thermaltake Versa H25 RM135
CM Hyper TX3 Evo RM94.34
Total:RM4936.08
Prices of the CPU,MoBo and CPU Cooler are from Jayacom@LYP,the rest are from Viewnet@LYP. smile.gif

Are you gonna overclock? hmm.gif Cause then,i'd only suggest going with i7 4790K,in which you'll have to sacrifice SSD and a stick of 8GB RAM.Since games are taking advantage of more cores and threads, rather go with an i7 4790K if you're gonna overclock or Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 or an i7 4790.

Ty for all the reply sifus  notworthy.gif

Now about buying it. I heard ideal tech is a good place to start is that true.
*
I bought my rig from them, service is nice. icon_idea.gif The prices there are slightly expensive though. tongue.gif
http://www.idealtech.com.my/store/index.ph...formation_id=11

Make sure you get similar with what i suggested, albeit with 8GB GSkill Aegis 8GB 1600MHz and no SSD if you decide to get from them.

doh.gif Just noticed you need an OS.

Lemme edit the build.

Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz RM945
Asrock B85M-HDS RM269
Palit GTX980 Jetstream 4GB GDDR5 RM2299
GSkill Aegis 1x8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RM229
WD Caviar Blue 1TB RM209
Seasonic M12II Evo 520W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular RM329
Thermaltake Versa H25 RM135
CM Hyper TX3 Evo RM95
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit RM200
Total:RM4730
Prices are from IdealTech. smile.gif

Over budget, can cut cost by going with i5 4460 3.2GHz RM689 or haggle them for more discounts.

Can you guys explain to me about hyperthreading  and multithread. I read up about the 4690k, Is it better than xeon if its overclocked?
*
Here.

Still no better IMO.Although some people prefer to overclock,it's advisable to get a Xeon even though it's locked or i7 4790K for RM400-500 more.Games are taking advantage of more cores/threads.

Since you're doing 3DS Max too,option 1 is better. nod.gif

Another thing if i may ask. Im still thinking about gtx 970 vs 980. Eventhou gtx 970 have better price per value than gtx 980. I ve heard some nasty rumor about it.
Whats does sifus think about gtx 970 vs gtx980?
*
If you're gaming on 1080p and below,GTX970 is the best bang for buck option,at the moment. It has the 3.5GB vRAM issue,in which games that uses a lot of vRAM,once reaches the 3.5GB mark, will cause stutters IINM.

Before GST,i'll go for dual GTX970s over a single GTX980 for 1080p.But since the prices are different now,i'll get GTX980. wink.gif

For PSU i would prefer a higher wattage & quality one so that i don't have to change it in future.  brows.gif

Was planning to get either AX760 or Cooler master 750 (which is only RM 500).

For mobo, decided to get MSI Z97-SLI KRAIT. Planning to get another GTX 970...

Might get a K-series processor too in the future  biggrin.gif
*
I'd take Asus Z97-Pro Gamer RM662.50 for overclocking. icon_idea.gif

One question though, why z97 pro gamer over z97 SLI krait? The price difference is RM 563 vs RM 663.

Look at this list.Take a look where Asus Z97-Pro Gamer and MSI Z97-SLI Krait sit.For overclocking, former is better.
