Guys I just got my HSBC visa platinum card (the reward card). But recently stumbled across the thread in this forum.. Kinda worried now. Is it a good points card? Scare of annual fee can't waive also later... Anyone got any good/bad experiences with it?

What makes you sign up for HSBC instead of other card

for the point systems... faster to accumulate points to change for voucher? and also got 250 rebate if manage to swipe up to RM 2.5k by February.

info here:
https://www.hsbc.com.my/1/2//personal-banki...#_visa_platinum

I go to Mid Valley and shopping malls quite often.

For Aeon Voucher 15k can get RM50 voucher liao.

I'm currently using Maybank Amex, but nowadays its points are worth half than previously.. As you can see here:
https://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/TPoint...ption300415.pdf

Needs 23+k to change for the same RM50 voucher (and got bad experience with it due to it being managed by 3rd party.. RM10 went missing had to call them to send again.). And problem with Maybank Amex? Not many merchants want to accept it - only big merchants ok due to Amex imposes a higher % interest to the merchants swiping it.

I'm concern with the annual fee.. if need to pay RM200+ a year then not worth it liao. Saw that slip in the mail that came with it.. doesn't state that minimum need swipe x times or can call helpdesk to waive it.. nothing... just list down all the annual fees for each type of card doh.gif

damn they have this clause:

"

The 5X Reward Points/8X Reward Points are only awarded on spend by HSBC cardholders of HSBC Visa Platinum Credit Card, HSBC Visa Reward Credit Card and HSBC Gold MasterCard Credit Card up to a maximum spend amount of RM3,000 per Participating Month cumulatively at Participating Shopping Malls. There is a maximum of 700 million Reward Points to be given out throughout the Programme Period based on 'first come, first served' basis.

Annual fee for HSBC, just call to request to waive. Last time they committed if you swipe x times a year it's automatic, but they now say because of GST they must charge to statement first and you can request to waive by calling them

I've used visa signature for 2 years... quite a lot of complain but I continue to use it because I too visit MidV a lot
Few things to look out for:
- There is a cap on the bonus points, up to RM1,500 per month. So if you make large purchases, you might want to use Amex instead if you exceeded the cap
- If you redeem airmiles at the promotional rate of 3000 point to 1000 miles, best to redeem everytime you have 3,000 points because it runs out really quickly towards the end of the year

But then, we don't even know if the program will continue in 2016; to be honest, if they discontinue it, I would terminate this card.
Generally, read every T&C carefully because HSBC is rather sneaky in rewarding its customers

Thanks for the reply.. Will try use this card for a few mths and see how it goes..

just called HSBC to check about annual fees.. they say that 1st year is free. Annual fee is charge around close to card's anniversary date (same mth with expiry) either during or the next mth.

After 1st year, 2nd year onwards, annual fee is only waived if you swipe more than 12 times (no minimum amount). Call HSBC to request for waiver when it happens... have to pay first following month only will waive.

It's normal for HSBC. Can't imagine if you really lost your cr card and it takes ages to get hold of a CS.  sweat.gif

that one usually is different (high priority)... HSBC mostly automated i think they can do it automatically? just need to press options etc.

anyone know how to download transaction details for HSBC account/ credit cards?

Got 2 options only.. I dont have any software that can open them:

QFX (Quicken 2004 for Windows/Quicken 2005 for MAC)

QIF (Common Interchange Format)

why not just make it simple and stick to PDF? zzz

nvm found it:
http://download.cnet.com/QIF-Viewer/3000-2...4-10889951.html
