4.5% PA at standard Charted. Min 5k. For new customer only. If you are existing customer need to get approval from their HQ.

With CPI at record low 1%, it is virtually almost zero chance that OPR going to be raised at near term.

With promotion rate at over 4%+, it is something "peak" for FD already for near term.

Planning to get approval next week or open a new joint account in SCB to get the 15 mth 4.5%. rclxms.gif

Hard to say. AmBank started in early Jan with 3 years 4.5%, then SCB in late Jan with 15 mth 4.5%. If another bank come out with 4.5% for 15 mth or less tenure, then some bank (SCB which seems to beat others recently ?) may up the game ? tongue.gif

My guess is unlikely, without OPR being raised, there is a limit how far promo FD rate can go.

If the rate keep on going higher than 4.5%, it may be better off for bank to source funding through borrowing.

I think max banks can go now is 4.5%.. More than that is very risky & could "hurt" the bank nod.gif

that's why u see only 4.5% not 4.8% or 5% icon_rolleyes.gif

All the banks are making billions of profit every year...surely an increase of 0.3% or 0.5% wont hurt their bottom line. The question which bank will step up their game to fight for our money? rclxms.gif

but as u can see for most banks, the profits are decreasing..

I don't expect more than what most are offering now looking at the situation sweat.gif

Ah Boom Ah Sir, the call centre did not give you the correct info.  sweat.gif

As I mentioned, the leng lui confirmed again today (you gave me excuse to talk to the leng lui  tongue.gif ), that the Islamic FD 15 mth 4.5% is available. Min 5k, until 31/3. Please note Islamic FD, the conventional one was ended last Friday.

Today I was in CB to get new notes and to place 1 month 9.18% FD.  rclxms.gif  rclxm9.gif Then one month later to move to SCB 15 mth 4.5%.  biggrin.gif  tongue.gif

Actually my RM is a leng chai. But this guy is more difficult to get on the phone. Give me more excuse to talk to the leng lui.  tongue.gif

Thank you so much, Ah Sir Ah Goat notworthy.gif

Bank Call centres usually do not have update FD info, but I think this excepts OCBC call cantre.

Happy Chinese New Year 2015 to everybody..

BR this year is quite kedukut to me.
They gave me only one Eu Yang Sang Chicken Essence and few Ang Pao packs (empty inside sad.gif ):
Somemore, I was requested to go to BR branch to pick these up, BR did not provide courier delivery just like Ringgit Plus.. sad.gif
