Actually I should be more thick face & ask if got hampers or essence of chicken though even to get the cup & umbrella I must be in their selected list, must be their budget is low for that branch.

Sometimes you would be surprised, last time my RM in Ambank kept commenting to her colleagues I am one of their youngest priority banking customer! (not that I am that young)

Maybe Ambank attract those age group because I am sure there are many 3x who can be PB customers looking at the stuff they buy 
In my personal opinion, I try as much as possible to avoid Hong Leong & Public Bank as they seem like a Chinaman bank to me, which means stingy
I can still remember 10 years ago Public Bank savings account almost 0% interest when other banks still give some interest.

I went to Alliance Bank yesterday to open 12-mth FD-Gold and was told that I need a savings or current account. Since I don't have either, I opt for Savings account. While I was filling up forms, the RM ask for my name card and then she called my office. You must have called the DID line and my mobile phone rings. I ask why she calls my office; only then she informed that she needs to verify with HR before proceeding with account creation. It was lunch time when I visited the bank.

To cut long story short, I took my money and went elsewhere.

Is it norm to call HR to verify new depositor?
