Does this OCBC 4.2% for 12 months is just pure FD or involve CASA. Try to call their hotline but cannot get the answer required. They are like blur blur....

Big musical chair day. Consolidated matured FD from BR, Ambank and CIMB to UOB 4.2% 12 months.

Found out that in UOB, it is possible to do partial upliftment (losing interest for the uplifted amount) even if the FD is in a single statement.

I'm going to do mine as well @ UOB tomorrow icon_rolleyes.gif Good to know about partial upliftment.

Having said that, lets say I have 50k to put in FD, is it advisable to split it into 2 FD (25k each) eventhough within same bank?

I usually split into several certs if the amount is large, just as 'insurance'.

Some time last year UOB has been asking me NOT to split FD as they have this partial uplift policy. So no need to split FD into too many different ones on the same day. biggrin.gif

Haha yeah. I wanted to split into 4 certs so that's why the lady informed me about this. End up, I still split into 2. Easier to keep track of whose money belongs to who for joint accounts biggrin.gif

But lets say I bring 1 banker cheque sum of 50k, can we still split to multiple certs? or we will need to bring 2 cheques instead?

Can I know what is partial upliftment?

You can withdraw portion of the money while still earning the interest?

Let's say the FD amount is 100k. You can uplift 40k partially, means you lose the interest for this 40k. You will get a new statement stating 60k (no change to duration or rate).

Thanks for speedy rely.

For IBG, it is within the same day even it is after 12 noon.
I have overlooked another Ocbc FD mature today. The bank staff did not remind me yesterday. Got to go again.

today IBG instead of Rentas...save some money, tq.

Ocbc has the following offer and seems nobody reported this, or i miss out?

first 6 months 4%, second 6 months 4.4%. effective is slightly more than 4.2% because, the first 6 months interest is added on to the principal.

say principal is P,
after 6 months, it is P plus 6 months interest roll over with 4.4% interest

just withdrew matured bank rakyat FD and transferred the money through IBG, kena 2.12 charges (with 6% GST). They no longer waive the IBG fees.

When is this 6+6mth OCBC FD promo ending?
