Good Morning, Ah Sir..

BR is abnormal today, I just checked my iRakyat account, I have not received the monthly interest.. sad.gif
Have you received yours..?

About less than 2 years ago, BR credited monthly interest right after mid-night like 12.05am; then they
changed to credit interest at around 7.00am...

They are still better than HL. I have one FD matured on Sat. But they did not show up in my acct until Sunday !

For me, BR wise, monthly interest crediting is satisfactory or great !  rclxms.gif

Mine has a problem so far... sad.gif
I just called BR, they said would fix it...

BR staff said they have this FD promotion:
1 year at 4.25%

BR new promo was reported on 26/5. See post below. From 1st to end of June with monthly interest.
Someone in BR must have missed you and wanted you to contact them.  tongue.gif

Ah Sir, so far I still have not received my FD interest from BR... sad.gif

I called BR branch again just now, the BR officer said HQ sent email to them yesterday and this email
said that all BR branches nationwide had problem to credit FD monthly interest. I suspect this officer
lied to me since you said that you had received your FD interest yesterday..

This BR officer last time made me so mad that I had to fax her a letter to remind her to credit my
monthly interest manually, remember?
I am not sure she is lazy or too busy? But I can tell she is not efficient.

Yesterday she asked for my IC number, and this morning when I called her she asked for my IC number again,
so this means that she did not do anything about my case yesterday.. bruce.gif

At last, she promised to call HQ to rectify this problem wor.. sad.gif

I said I got the BR interest up to May month. The last date is 23rd May. Do you have any around that date of 23rd or earlier ?

Next one for me on 8th of June.  biggrin.gif

I also received FD interest on 1st May (Product code: Mubeen) & 8th May (Product code: Berjangka).
But for the interest I was supposed to receive yesterday (1st of June, Mubeen), I did not receive.

Maybe Mubben has problem, but not for Berjangka

I know you have Berjangka, let's see if we can receive FD interest on 8th of June..

Am a bit confused. Have a question on HSBC advance customer. Is there a minimum sum that we have to deposit to become an advanced customer (just like PB customer) or is it that just by opening a $5 current account, we can be advance customer? Thought I ever read somewhere that we have to maintain a fairly large sum to be considered 'advanced' customer but then below quote from BoomChaCha seems to indicate otherwise. Appreciate some help on this. Thanks

Quote from BoomChaCha
'HSBC 5% for 3 Months FD has extended to 30 June 2015 - New added on 27 April 2015
Minimum RM 5K, maximum RM 30K
Min RM 5 to open a current account (Advance)
Free Umbrella while stock last'
*
I just withdrew my HSBC FD at 5% for 3 months tenure, and also closed Advance current account
at the same time this afternoon.

My 3 FDs with HSBC:
(1) A ----> RM 30K
(2) B ----->RM 30K
(3) A + B ----> RM 30K

My total net profit is RM 1144.17 for 3 FDs, after deduct RM 5.83 (GST included sweat.gif ) for HSBC's
banker's check.

I asked the HSBC staff about your question, here is the answer:
To skip paying the RM 10 management monthly fee for HSBC Advance current account, we have to
place a minimum FD deposit of RM 30K.

If place FD less than RM 30K, HSBC Advance account will charge RM 10 for each month.

And be aware that we can only withdraw the FD one day after the FD maturity date;
and FD will only be effective after the check is cleared, so we will lose at least 3 days interest.

But for my case, I brought cash to HSBC sweat.gif , so I only lost 1 day interest...

... from what I understand Mubben is different from Berjanka. Mubben is sort of an Islamic Investment Deposit Account with a Timeline, and any Investment sort of Instrument does come with some level of risk. Berjangka is the normal Fix Deposit account. All are base on the Islamic principal. How did you end up opening this Mubben account? Like all sort of like Unit Trust or ASN Investment tools, they will need to send you a statement of how well or poorly your investment have done yearly. It is only my personal understanding, and I stand to be corrected ...  smile.gif  ...
*
My 5 years FD with BR is Mubeen, BR gave me some Mubeen's buy & sell contract to sign when I placed this
5 years FD with BR couple years ago, BR did not explain anything about Mubeen at that time, and I did not
know what a Mubeen was... sad.gif

No, BR never sent me any Mubeen's statement.

Anyway, I noticed that my Mubeen FD has changed to Berjangka FD in my iRakyat account yesterday.
So I guess, BR is changing back the credit interest timing back to normal based on the date we placed
FD.

Gary, Thanks so much for the clarification about my issue.. notworthy.gif

That is what I thought....Berjangka should be no problem, it will credit interest
to our iRakyat accounts as usual...

I guess the issue is Mubeen, it seems BR bought back my Mubeen, and
exchanged me with Berjangka instead. So I guess BR will credit interest
to my "new" Berjangka on 16 June instead of 1st June for expired Mubeen..

Let's see... sweat.gif

BR sent me the letter stated that the interest rate is lower that what they had offered me

How long was the tenure for the BR FD ?  hmm.gif
*
Ah Sir, I am talking about my 5 years FD.

This 5 years FD called Mubeen when I first placed this 5 years FD about 3 years ago.

Just last week, BR sent me a letter (see below attached letter) stated that BR is buying back my
old Mubeen and exchanged me with new Berjangka, (I guess that's why I have not received my interest)
but the interest rate stated on the letter for new Berjangka was lower by 0.1% if compared to old Mubeen.

So, I think maybe I have to go to BR HQ to get clarification; my BR branch officer I think is useless
and I do not think she can help me since this letter is sent by BR HQ.

I don't care how do they want to change the FD product, but the interest must be at least the same or
higher; but definitely cannot be lowered... bruce.gif

Another possibility is that it could be a typo error on the BR letter...

Ah Sir, my BR 5 year FD cert (Mubeen) is stated clearly that the
return of the FD is guaranteed.

From page 1:

"If you are willing to go deposit with a non PIDM member, then check out Bank Rakyat Deposit Account -i which is based on Islamic Principles and like all Islamic banks' products, the profit rate cannot be guaranteed."

I think there was discussion on this aspect 3 years or so ago. Anyway so far what I get from BR has been fixed per the FD cert.  biggrin.gif

Went to Affin to go for their 15 mth 4.33% FD. This promo is until end of Dec 2015 or 200 mil target.  biggrin.gif

Wanted to add to the BC's cheque using personal cheque, was told cannot do so. Some banks just "mix and match" between cash & cheques. But Affin Bank not allowed.  shakehead.gif

Ah Goat Sir,
Affin bank allowed me to add cash together with banker's check when I placed 4.33% FD few days ago..
RHB also allows to add cash together with banker's check when want to place FD ...

QUOTE(tonytyk @ Jun 5 2015, 01:34 PM)
First page shows OCBC 4.33% effective rate from what looks like a step up / roll over type of FD, but not really step up / roll over FD, ie you won't get the published interest rate, even if you keep the fund as per deposit period of 4 months, 8 months etc. NEED TO KEEP FUND FOR 15 months

You are absolutely right, Tony.. thumbup.gif
