Haha, pulling your legs. For me, happy that finally SCB interest crediting issue is over. So can plan for more FD there already. Except trying not to put too many eggs in one place.  biggrin.gif
*
Gary has not received his interest, so SCB is still in the middle of crediting
interest manually to depositor accounts.

This is true not to put too many eggs in one basket.. sweat.gif
For example, I already put in RHB at 4.21% intead of SCB at 4.5% Islamic ma..

Ah Sir, but this time I want to shoot to the maximum now..

I missed the Am Bank 4.5% for 3 years.. sad.gif

2yr or 5yr FD should be good option  tongue.gif

but it's depend on u now.. will u want to "lock" your money for 5yr FD  icon_rolleyes.gif

Whether to "lock" for 5 years, this depends on my health condition lah..
My next medical check-up will help me to decide.. sweat.gif

When you become old one day, then you will understand what I am talking about.. sad.gif

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Apr 24 2015, 01:03 PM)
I remember there are some who said NOT to put in for 3 years as the rate is going up. Anyway the point is it is always good to put in some amt at progressively high FD rates.

We can never wait to get the highest rates. The rates may go up or down. Just put FD to those that we think we are comfortable with and which is the highest and best at that time.

Anyway time may prove me wrong. But life is that way. We can never be sure of everything !  biggrin.gif
*
You are correct, Ah Sir..
It is still hard to say next OPR will cut down or not..

But I still think MBSB 5 Years & BR 5 Years are the best so far... biggrin.gif
Just put in 5 years and not need to chase for Musical Chair anymore....

Just saw news that Penang has lowered towing charge from RM150 to RM100. Reason is local council is allowed maximum fine of RM100 for towing. So Penang is following that local city council guideline which is supposed to be for whole of Malaysia.  biggrin.gif

So, Ah Boom, go and appeal ?  hmm.gif

Thanks for the info.. smile.gif
I will find out to see if I can appeal or not..

QUOTE(matow @ Apr 25 2015, 11:34 AM)
Hi BoomChaCha sir, thank you very much for your advice.
Is there any difference in terms of FD policy between normal SCB and Islamic SCB? I received a call from the bank (one of the service officers) and she told me that there is.

I do not know what is the difference in between SCB conventional FD & SCB Islamic FD,
but I know SCB Islamic FD is a little bit troublesome.

QUOTE(matow @ Apr 25 2015, 11:34 AM)
Anyway, my deposit was on 18.09.2014 and I just saw on the slip that it says Renewal Instructions : 1 (renew principal with profit) - the service officer says because it is option 1, the profits will not be credited every 6 months.
I pop in the bank on Monday (same building with my office) to try to argue my case.
*
Your Service Manager is wrong.
Renewal Instructions: 1 (Option 1) is noting to do with the FD interest crediting issue.

As long as your FD tenure is more than 12 months, you will get interest every 6 months.
It is stated clearly on the FD cert (ii) as below:
Attached Image

You have not received your interest is because SCB screws up this time, I think SCB is crediting
interest manually to all FD depositors nationwide. Tell your Service Manager that some of your friends have received interest, talk to him nicely and ask him to expedite the process to credit you the interest.

You can ask for a sample of FD cert from SCB counter and show it to your Service Manager, the FD cert is stated clearly on condition (ii), you will get interest every 6 months. I did like this to my Service Manager, he agreed and promised to help me to chase for the interest.

I went to SCB Saadiq (Islamic)this afternoon, the customer service told me
no need to wait for the check clearance, Islamic FD can be effective on
the same day if submit check before 4.00pm. And can just ignore the
sms when SCB ask you to participate something.

QUOTE(lowya @ Apr 27 2015, 01:56 PM)
Better get

SCB Saadiq (Islamic) 15 Months - 4.5%

instead?

I agree.. hmm.gif
I was thinking to place FD in Alliance Bank, now I change my
mind to place FD with SCB Saadiq (Islamic) 15 Months - 4.5%..
obviously a better deal..No pain no gain lah... sweat.gif
I will place SCB Islamic in two days later..

HSBC 5% for 3 Months FD has extended to 30 June 2015

Min RM 5 to open a current account

Yes, only 3 months..unfortunately sad.gif
If you want to place more than RM 30K, you can find your relative(s)
to open joint account with you, for example:
(1) You, under your single name -- one account for first RM 30K
(2) Under you and your wife joint account -- one more account for second RM 30K
(3) Under your wife single name -- another FD account for 3rd RM 30K .. and etc..

So, you can place total RM 90K under 3 accounts at a time.. biggrin.gif

clear choice isn't it?

One is short term (3 months), another one is longer term (15 months),
how to compare..?

QUOTE(cklimm @ Apr 28 2015, 07:25 AM)
Do take note that, after 3 months, when your HSBC advance account has balance lesser than 30k, the bank will charge you RM10.60 per month, including GST

Just withdraw the FD and close the current account on the same day when the FD is matured.
But only can withdraw FD one day after the FD maturity day due to the set-up of this Islamic FD.

Hi guys, saw the HSBC promotion at the 2nd post of this thread.

I tried looking at the HSBC website but I can't seems to find any T&C.

Anyone kind enough to point me to the relevant site?

Wanna park my money there for 3 months for it's high interest rate for a bit tongue.gif

Thanks guys.
*
Hi, here is the T&C of HSBC 5% promo for 3 months:
Attached Image

Here are few tips:
This HSBC Islamic FD will not effective until your check is cleared, so you will lose
at least 2 days interest.
You can only withdraw your FD on the next working day of the FD maturity day.

Open a current account only requires RM 5.00.

Once the FD is matured, remember to close your current account and withdraw your FD
together on the same day.

A member reported that it has a penalty charge if the total deposit falls below RM 30K after 3 months.

Thanks for notifying about the penalty charges btw.

Any other short term FD with similar promotions? Got few k to splash around for the time being  blush.gif

Most FDs require minimum RM 10K now.. sweat.gif

QUOTE(chiahau @ May 3 2015, 11:06 PM)
Sidenote : Means that it's 5% p.a. meaning that if I splash 10k, after 3 months, I'm getting ( 0.05 x 10,000 / 12 months x 3 month's in the end ) right?

Thanks again.

Yes, you are right.
But if you want to get more accurate calculation, please use 365 days instead of 12 months.

You can consider
(1) CIMB Islamic 4% for 3 months
(2) UOB 3.9% for 3 months

Ok.. coming back to FD related stuff.

Last week. I rentas 10k to alliance and place FD immediately after fund arrived at alliance.

however, rate is 3.3 instead of 4.1 as per advertised..

then i write to them.. they say must be new fund..

so i am thinking.. rentas fund is not new fund ?? Wad is only new fund ???
*
Oh.. No.. Alliance bank is not doing this right.. rclxub.gif

I deposited a Maybank banker's check to my Alliance saving account via Alliance Bank ATM
machine before 4.00pm on 27 April.

Then 2 days later on 29 April, I went to Alliance bank to use the money from my
Alliance saving account (money from Maybank banker's check) to place FD with promo rate
4.1% for 1 year tenure, no problem at all. The bank staff did not even ask me the source of
money. After I gave her my bank saving book, then she just placed FD for me.

I think for your case, you need to talk to the bank officer or branch manager,

Since I can do it, why not you..?

So, if only for RM 10K, it is worth it to to place RM 10K to get the Huawei tablet..

customers are are totally new to UOB.

I was worried UOB would close my FD account because I did not place FD with UOB for a long time.
It is so troublesome to re-open a FD account (for example like photostatting IC.. sweat.gif ).
So few weeks ago, I put minimum RM 500 at FD board rate 3.3% for 1 year with auto renew.

Do you have any saving or current account with UOB?

I think more than 6 months since the last time I withdrew my last UOB promo FD.
According to UOB, UOB FD accounts will close if no FD for more than 6 months.

I think I will do the same to OCBC too.. hmm.gif

No, I do not have UOB saving or current account.

But we have to renew the FD & CASA within 7 years;
otherwise our monies will send to bank negara.. sweat.gif
