Ah Boom Ah Sir, I found that once we go into RHB's step-up, difficult to get out as their initial few step-up rates are low. So for us to terminate it, unless we need the cash, difficult to find a high enough FD rate to turn to. Especially the latest one, they lure you to stay on until 12 mth ! Very smart of RHB !
*
Ah Sir, I agree with with you, we will try not to withdraw due the the higher interest rate
at year end.
RHB 12 months' FD gave me one FD cert, but this FD cert is valid for 3 months, I have the option
to renew or withdraw the FD cert after 3 months; or if I do not have time to go to RHB to renew, then this FD will auto-renew until it matures in 12 months later. Interest will deposit to my RHB saving account based on the step-up tenures.

For step-up of PBB, the FD cert showed 6 months validity. But at the back, it would indicate the next auto renewal rate. RHB's FD cert not sure if they print the next step up rate at the back of the cert. Need to check mine to see.

RHB step-up FD has been doing the depositing of interest without fail every 3 months for last year's promo until now.  rclxms.gif

You still have not received SCB's interest ?  hmm.gif

I just checked my SCB online banking account, no, no interest yet sad.gif

I think I need to go to talk to the SCB Service Manager again.. sad.gif

By the way, do you know if RHB step-up FD rates are fixed?
Or the rates might go up or down just like Public Bank step-up FD.?

Is this CMD-i a fixed deposit?
My mom went and placed a deposit by herself but she's not sure how it works? So now I'm confused as well.
It is a 3M term with auto-renewal.
If we had to uplift before 3M, do we still get back the whole amount?

Thanks.
*
Yes, this CMD-I is a fixed deposit, it should be Islamic type.

Your mom can renew or withdraw when this FD is matured based on each step-up tenure.

When renew, your mom has the option to go to RHB branch to request to print the next
following tenure on a new FD cert; or if your mom does not have time to go to RHB branch,
then this FD will auto-renew by itself.

If you uplift before 3 months, you can get back your principal but you won't get any interest.
So if you want to earn your 3 months' 3.3% interest, you have to keep your money in FD for
at least 3 months.

So, it looks like it is better to place FD with the best rate but don't mind to lock in longer term..?

Or even 5 years in MBSB & Bank Rakyat..?

On depositing cash,
UOB limit is Rm30k, Ocbc, HL and Citi bank at RM50k. But they may have changed the policy now...

On asking what will the fund be used, Citi bank has lower limit than others, cant remember the limit.
Even if you apply for a bank draft for less than RM20k, Citi bank will ask the purpose....

I like your Genting answer which probably I can use it too.... rclxms.gif

All banks wont question sources of fund if you use bank draft or personal cheque as it is already stated from which bank...
*
You mean the maximum cash deposit allowed for placing FD is RM 30K in UOB..?

Last time I deposited cash RM 90K to HSBC for FD, HSBC asked me the source of
this cash, then I showed them the SCB cash withdrawal slip.

QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 16 2015, 10:55 PM)
My opinion is to lock in for 5 years, a person needs to look at his current age now. I am just voicing my opinion to those who may be concerned, not referring to you ....a leng chai.

Touch wood...if anything happened, even if it is under joint name FD, to avoid complexity, the other joint name person will be forced to withdraw the FD before maturity to avoid the money being "frozen" ....
*
If a person pass away without a will, then don't make condolence advertisement in newspaper.
Banks won't know when a person is dead, so can just wait for the FD to become mature (provided the FD is joint name with either one to sign), then withdraw quietly.
The best way is to prepare a will, we will never know what will happen to us tomorrow... sad.gif

But every time is issue cheque.. maybe that's the reason?

Banks will question the source of fund if:
(1) cash amount is more than RM 50K
(2) check amount is more than RM 100K

Normally, need to make a police report for someone is dead and dead certificate will be issues. NO sure bank will have the info for dead certificate from police.
*
Oh.. I think it depends on how does a person dies.

Let's say if a robber dies under the police gun fire, then this case will need a police report
& doctor anatomy report for the Births & Deaths Registration department to issue a death certificate.

If a person dies in a hospital because of sickness, then the doctor will write a report
for the Births & Deaths RegistrationBirths & Deaths Registration department to issue a death certificate.

No, banks do not have any online network to link to the police department yet..

Even a person passed away at home, have to call the ambulance to have the medical officer certified passed away. Make a police report and police will drop by to check and confirmed there is no foul play like bruises or cut on the body. After all these then only can go and get the death cert.

Bank does not need to have on line with police on checking a person is alive or not. The record is with the Jabatan Pengdaftaran Negara. In future bank will link up with JPN. 5 years FD is a long time and nobody will know the policy change
*
I am not worried about 5 years FD because I do medical check-up at least once per year;

Hi BoomChacha Sir,
I would like to ask you how you managed to get SCB to credit the 6 month interest?
I have talked to my branch (Saadiq, Bukit Tinggi Klang), they inform me that there is no 6 monthly credit of interest, only that if I were to take out my money now, the 6 month interest is assured.
My emails and calls to Customer Service are useless, they just reply have forwarded to relevant person who will contact me soon.....after 4 days still no contact.
Feel like I have to ask to see the Branch Manager and bang table....or can I write to Bank Negara to complain?
*
At first, you can talk to your RM, if your RM is not around or not answering to your call; then
you can talk to Service Relationship Manager or Service Manager (Service Relationship Manager reports to Service Manager), then the next option is to talk to the Branch Manager.

Write to Bank Negara to complain? hmm.gif
I think not necessary lah....I think you will receive your interest very soon...

Unfortunately, I am in the same situation as you, at Damansara Uptown branch.
Gone are those days where customer is always right.

I have done similar to what you did but I got the excuse that it has past the date so they cannot revert the interest to 6 months. The only consolation is that they will deposit interest after 12 months & I said what choice do I have?

Since BCC got the interest, I am thinking of pursuing my case then!
Problem is I do not want to visit that bank as hard to find parking & have to wait long for their bad service.
*
Gary, be careful when your park your car in Damansara Uptown.
Last month when I placed my FD with SCB in Damansara Uptown, I parked
my car on a small road (see pictures with a black cross) which next to Public
bank, my car suddenly disappeared after I came out from SCB.

Later I found out from the police station that MBPJ towed my car to
Damansara Perdana, so I had to take a taxi (cost me RM 7.00) to go to Damansara
Perdana to get my car back.

Consequently I had to pay RM 300 to get my car released from MBPJ... mad.gif

I was thinking to bring this case to Consumer Tribunal, because as you can see
there is no "Zone Tunda" sign board on this road, and no yellow line on the ground,
and I did not block the traffic when I parked my car there.

Below is part of the conversations when I was in MBPJ office in Damansara Perdana:

Me: Saya tak ada salah, MBPJ paksa saya bayar RM 300, MBPJ kelakuan macam perombak..

MBPJ officer (smiled) : You boleh panggil apa yang you suka, tapi kalau you tak bayar RM 300,
kami tak akan lepas you punya kereta..

Me: Saya mahu rayuan

MBPJ officer: Boleh, kalau you adalah OKU atau student, ini boleh dapat RM 90 diskaun lah

Me: Senior Citizen boleh?

MBPJ officer (smiled): Senior Citizen tak boleh lah.. Uncle. Kalau you mahu complain, you boleh naik taxi ke MBPJ HQ di Petaling Jaya, pergi RM 70 dan balik ke sini lagi RM 70, dan ini tidak jamin you akan dapat rayuan..

Me: Saya tengok you ada MBPJ pajero di sini, you hantar saya ke MBPJ HQ, dan hantar saya balik ke sini, boleh..?

MBPJ officer: Tak boleh lah.. Saya tak ada kunci, saya guli sahaja..

------------------------

So I lost RM 307.00 just to place my FD with SCB in Damansara Uptown... cry.gif
Next time I will never go to Damansara Uptown anymore...

Thanks for the warning. A very expensive FD indeed. Now is slightly more convenient actually. There is a new basement parking accessible from the road in between maybank & am bank. RM 1 for first hour. Or if I am feeling kedekut, I will park at the housing area, else try luck at the usual 60 sen parking bays.

I think it was a peak hour when I went there, I could not find any parking including
the basement parking.

Thanks for the parking info info.

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Apr 24 2015, 08:36 AM)
Uncle BCC, perhaps you not to familiar with the area, but as long as no proper parking lot they tend to tow only. Expensive lesson unfortunately.
*
Ya loh, initially I wanted to go to SCB in PJ, but the road blocked because of road construction,
so I had to go to Damansara Uptown which was the nearest.

I think this small road next to Public bank is purposely set up as a trap by MBPJ.

The MBPJ officer also told me they have 3 tow trucks, each tow truck has daily quota,
each tow truck has to tow at least 10 vehicles per day.

I think this is a good business... hmm.gif
3 tow trucks x 10 vehicles = 30 vehicles x RM 300 = RM 9000 income per day.
RM 9000 x 26 working days = RM 23,4000.00 per month, and some more no need to pay
income tax...

MBPJ's overhead in Damansara Perdana, a small simple office with 3 officers (one female cashier and 2 male public relationship managers, their jobs are to social and talk nicely to the angry vehicle owners who got towed) , plus one more big size bouncer/gangster type security guard with toothless is watching all towed vehicles in the yard. This security guard told me his salary is RM 2 thousand plus per month.

Ah Goat Sir.. I placed my 2nd SCB FD on 3 April 2015 in Damansara Uptown, I was expecting
my 1st FD interest (placed on 19 Sept 2014) on 19 April 2015..

I think your interest is correct ---> value date 19/3/2015

I got my interest value date 23/3/2015 (suppose to be like yours, 19/3/2015), so SCB paid me
back RM 9.43

So actual received interest late by 20 days. (Anyway subsequent FD's placed after 19/9/2014 has no such issue, just for those who are new to this issue.)

Let's wait until the 1st of May to see if any back date interest will credit to

*
I received my FD interest correctly based on 6 month interest.

I guess this RM 9.43 is the back date 9 days SA interest from the FD interest in between
23 March to 31 March. (But I placed my FD on 19 Sept 2014)

My Value Date shown on my SCB Online Banking is 23/3/2015, so I guess this RM 9.43 interest
is 9 days saving account interest.

I remember my Service Manager promised me to chase for the SA interest..
