Hi. I need to get a prepaid sim card that allows high speed and good coverage for data. I don't mind P1 and other portable small modems but they're a hassle and need to be charged separately. Not to mention p1's coverage ain't so great. This is mainly for my use of internet on the road, when I'm driving. Mostly on West Coast Peninsular. But I rather have coverage for the most of Semanjung. I checked that Digi don't seem to have that bad coverage. My bro uses U-mobile on his tablet and the speed is terrible IMO. Think of this as a mainly Waze/Google Maps platform, with the occasional google search on places and things and contacting friends on whatsapp(even this is not required). I've been a bit spoilt because I have been overseas for 5-odd years and while I complain all the time about internet, the low speed there is nowhere as low as the speed here. Malaysia has crazy slow internet although it's only a small nation. Thoughts? This post has been edited by son of God: Dec 31 2014, 11:25 PM

dwRK, that bit might be useful. I might have heard of this. How much does it cost and what kind of space do the maps for the whole of Malaysia occupy? A ballpark figure is good.

For map i recommend use HERE Beta for android if your phone is android. It free and offline lifetime navigation. They update the map 2-4 time a year.
For prepaid line i recommend use maxis hotlink.3g coverage is excellence and speed also good 1-5mbps. I'm use #hotlink prepaid. It come with free basic internet 64kbps speed.Just need active line to use this and good enough for whatsapp and lite google search.Need more speed 3g or lte subscribe daily, weekly or monthly.

map uses usually uses only few MB for searching places and navigation
for good coverage i think celcom is good? bcos still have signal at those rural area... for hotlink free basic internet i'm sure u will rage when u try to search a place using google map, and u need to top up RM30 every month to extend ur validity bcos there's no more 365 validity plan for hotlink... unless u use the RM30 credit to buy 1GB data every month then it's ok
if u r using android then just install HERE beta which is free and allow offline navi however it often fail to obtain my location when i turn into offline mode...
