QUOTE(Cim~ @ Apr 16 2015, 09:52 PM) Tamiya Jump Track If you want to make the rear land first, adding damper is not the exact solution, adding more weight is.Hello guys, Have you ever tried these set of jumps (see link for pix if not shown)? They added these jumps with the same track setup of 6 straight panels - change lane - curve. http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/mini4-online/item/t10310/ My car is more stable when the rear lands first. I put black sponge brakes at the front to withstand the change lane bridge. If the car front lands first, it tumbles. Any suggestions on how to make sure the rear lands first? My guess is to put dampers at the rear. Problem with these jumps is that the jump is so low, with a slow speed, it hits the center chassis whent he front tires has passed, and then front lands first, hitting the front brakes and then tumbles. I am already using Ultra Dash with Super Large Tires and 3.5 gear on AR chassis. If you add rear damper, most likely the rear damper will knock the tail upwards when the car jump, which will cause nose dive. This will help with table tops or LCs, but usually not for straight jumps. You can add mass damper at the rear, but limit the damper movement, like using locknut to restrict the damper. Or add those dummy mass weights at the rear. But personally I'd add a lightweight block damper at the front so that it knocks up the front when jumping. It's a common setup here in Malaysia when we have 'long jump' layouts. Works most of the time. QUOTE(acam2812 @ Apr 17 2015, 09:45 AM) QUOTE(pdotellwhy @ Apr 17 2015, 10:56 AM) low demand and high tax..that y so many shop close..seller more consider selling online rather than open a shop.. nope.... many shops were starting to closed down even before the tax announcement.GST isn't the problem. the problem was since last year, and earlier this year, there was just too many private/online seller. supply was more than demand. on top of that, private/online seller slowly taking over the market from real shops. real shops just can't match up the price of private seller because they have running cost to cover. no customer = no profit = close down lor. when shops close down, lesser place for people to play. scene goes down. then nobody is playing anymore. QUOTE(gsuwizard @ Apr 17 2015, 01:39 PM) you mean Niagara slope isn't it?usually body damper a.k.a hanging jaw a.k.a hanging cover is people's choice, with rubber brakes. and the brakes shouldn't be too low. typical japanese circuit setup. QUOTE(gsuwizard @ Apr 18 2015, 07:14 PM) What is the advantage of hanging jaw vs normal damper? Since hanging jaw damper swing backward, how to limit its jaw opening? Sorry for this noob question.never build hanging jaw yet. I observe from slowmo video in utube thar hanging more stabil but not that fast. Is It always true? hanging jaw usually does not need much adjustment except for the weight of the damper (or any combination) because the amount of opening will depends on how fast and how far/high the car jump. perhaps the only thing you could adjust is the spring rate. but there are some setups where hanging jaw does not even use any spring.basically it's like normal hanging damper (popular circa 2013) but with slightly more impact and look more stylish. tell me if this is not fast for just atomic tuned motor |

QUOTE(Cim~ @ Aug 8 2015, 02:39 AM) plenty of japanese racer use that spec for speed tech, i don't see any problem. the final result depends on the overall setup of your car anyway.it's the thickness that matters. if you're referring to 3mm width but with 35mm overall diameter (also known as ultra-wide diameter tires which often used for high speed races), that is less to be desired because the thicker the tire is, the bouncier it will be. but as per Japan standard rules, you need to add at least 5mm 'dummy tire surface' to the 3mm tires so that the overall diameter meets the minimum requirement which is 8mm. QUOTE(Yuuyatails @ Aug 17 2015, 10:13 PM) Well, the rear brake skid comes with the stock kit is made of low-friction POM plastic (as with the plastic bearings), so it will have less wears than the others. Silicon tires warms up faster thus having more grip compared to rubber. But if you have a long circuit and the silicon tires are not taped it might come off easily once it warms up (getting loose). It's okay for lower speed layout with many jumps or uphills, but the advantage is not by much.By the way, I have somethings to asks: What is the difference between the normal rubber tires and the silicone tires? And what's the difference between the normal tires and the trimmed ultra-low-profiles tires? Also I recently noticed that all Tamiya motors that are made by SMC motor uses carbon brushes. (This includes the Sprint-Dash Motor my old Max Breaker have) I wonder what's the benefits with the carbon brushes compare to copper brushes. There are a few different reasons we want to use low profile tires. 1. Soft rubber tires are generally bumpier especially when combined with plastic wheels. Trimming it to low and absolutely flat profile it gives more surface area which is more stable when landing from jumps. 2. Reduce overall wheel+tire diameter for lower center of gravity and slightly faster acceleration Carbon brushes wears out faster than copper brushes, but the more it gets worn, the better it performs (more surface area touching the terminal) until the carbon finishes.
