Hmm I wonder who is preventing the link.......? Jaring also cant login to their site. I need to check when I get home the status of mine. As I said before I paid mine using paypal linked to a UK credit card.

Yeah like I said also using Jaring cant connect to the site - so seemingly secure-tunnel is either down or blocking malaysian users..... Dont think there is any problem with the tunnel itself though as I have been checking my downloads from a private tracker remotely this morning and they have all downloaded OK.

Boy some people are really retarded. Without secure tunnel, download speeds = 3 - 5kB/s, running secure tunnel speeds = 60kB/s on 512k set up. Oh now I wonder why that is? - doh! Guess some people were ostriches in a previous life with their heads firmly in the sand.....

QUOTE(tvcat @ Oct 5 2006, 11:50 PM) got no malaysian peer at all.... amazing ?? Er so one user v the myriad that have posted their slow speeds here? What's your point exactly - that your speeds are representative of p2p users as a whole? Or are you just wanting to say nar nar nar nar nar? QUOTE(blackamikaze @ Oct 6 2006, 12:19 AM) i hope people that using vpn, tunnel, proxy, after u done downloading ur thing. Please off ur tunnel n use back malaysia ip n seeding to our fellow malaysian that have same problem like us. Dont worry with secure tunnel it still recognises Malaysian IP, I notice on the private tracker I use that when a Malaysian IP comes along they take virtually my entire upload bandwidth (this is with ST on)

Have you tried accessing the site by changing your internet options to reach it through the proxy provided? Also whats the error message you get when logging on? I am still running smoothly using ST.

QUOTE(nwk @ Oct 6 2006, 12:39 PM) That could also be another reason why Secure Tunnel decided to ban all Malaysia IP addresses from their service. Too much strain on their servers! Not all Malaysian IP's are banned.......

The thing about proxies are they are at best transient and you cant set and forget them. This is because the servers with fixed IPs (the proxy) mostly belong to corporations or universities/colleges who have not password enabled them. Once any semi-intelligent admin/IT manager sees the illegal traffic going through them they will simply block any outside use. Thats why its not really a long term solution.

Hmm will try it when I get home through the ST proxy and see if I can connect. I know jaring is same issue as I tried yesterday from work. So did they actually tell you the service was discontinued? Also what is the error mesage when you try to log into tunnel launcher?

QUOTE(andyz @ Oct 6 2006, 03:43 PM) yup st is blocking all ip from malaysia, Probably they were afraid and wondering why suddenly huge amount of interest from malaysia.... anyway as stupid as it sound, i was able to use their st program to bypass their blocking.... that means u can use proxies to beat their blocking practices... i just activate internet explorer proxies on their software so that i can access their website... after deactivate it rather use streamyx to access internet web sites... Yes I dont use ST for web browsing either - besides you cant send out email from hotmail or yahoo when using proxy. I just want enough encryption to bypass the TMNET sniffer dogs on BT lol.

QUOTE(super macgyver @ Oct 6 2006, 03:54 PM) thx but do i need to use any sw to use it? You have to put that in the proxy options for whatever BT application (azureus, uTorrent etc) you are using.

Just curious but is anyone else still able to use secure tunnel - been running it now for nearly a week - with no complaints so far.

QUOTE(Haruji Sora @ Oct 10 2006, 07:00 PM) EDIT - Yeah I should try it out on one private tracker with very few leecher and alot of high quality seeders. But the problem is finding one that fits the description >_< Very easy for me to try on UK private tracker - plenty of mature torrents with a lot of seeds and virtually no leechers. What settings do you want to me to try before and after?

I use azureus but has identical settings (currently set at 100 and 167). Will switch off secure tunnel first then test out with a good torrent.

OK just run the test - torrent had 100+ seeds with 7 leechers. At 167,100 there were over 20 seeders visible, only a few were fully established and speeds were totalling 1.6kb - 3.2kb/s, normally connected to one or two at a time. Same occurred for 10,10 - speeds no different. Flick back on secure tunnel and back up to 60kB/s, connected and leeching from 20+ seeds.

Not so sure how "reliable" they are in terms of security. The way I look at it is either you take the risk and enjoy the benefits of faster downloading or decide your ensured security is worth more and suffer sub 10kBs speeds. I am choosing the former until such time as a more suitable alternative appears.

Assuming FTP transfers are not throttled another way to get around the throttling would be to use the services of a torrent host such as www.mrgigabit.com or www.ttorrent.net - have them download the files for you and then ftp from them. Of course this service is not free.
At the moment I am looking into the feasibility of using a shell host - connecting to the shell via puTTy and running azurues through that using a sockscap.
