One thing though, how come some areas are not throttled yet? Cyberjaya you can only get 5-8 KBps

i don think is depend on area, mostly they throttled by user basis. However, u will get better bandwith if local peer upload the file rather than international.

Bcoz TMNet is thorttling all those high bandwidth use areas first, and never bother with those area that has low broadband penetrations (yes this CONTRDICT on what they say distrubuting it equally)

The first few areas that got hit by throttling are areas that has alot of students, especially college students. These students normally if they have streamyx connection @home or @rented home they will BT until like there is no tomorrow for their... stuffz >_<

I was unlucky bcoz my home area is located super near with TARC, therefore my area has alot of students renting room, homes, etc. So i was throttled at one of the earliest phase which is around early september.

Some users just start encountering throttling around october.

Some areas like Bukit Mertajam in Penang is still unthrottled >_<

After a couple of months testing two different VPN protocols, PPTP and L2TP over IPSec, we have now decided which technical platform to use.
From mid November we will use only the PPTP protocol. The main reason for doing so is that the PPTP protocol provides a superior stability as well as capacity compared to L2TP over IPSec. Please note that we are aware of the many unmotivated disconnections you are experiencing at the moment. However this problem will be fixed shortly since we currently are upgrading most of our hardware platform.
Some of you may have noticed that the L2TP over IPSec protocol is said to be slightly more secure than the PPTP protocol. Since the difference is only minor we think that the superior stability and capacity of the PPTP protocol clearly motivates why we/you should use it instead.

hey forget to add that my fren also BM got speed exceeding 250kB/s

So how you think Tmnet should compensate us Central and Southern region users for paying the same but getting speeds which are much lesser than those in Penang, Bukit Mertajam(BM), Sugai Petani and Alor Setar users?

Give us half a month rebate la.I doubt many will be reluctant to cancel their Streamyx service.If most Klang Valley subscribers cancel their subscription is enough to half Stremyx user base to almost half.I'm serious.Most Streamyx subscribers are located in the Kland Valley.

SArawak and sabah the customer is less than northern region still kena throttle down to the root.
Up till now very hard to achieve 10kBps dl speed

the user can mean ur phone line, not neccesary ur streamyx ac.
for example, u bring ur modem to ur fren's/relative house that don have streamyx, can u online using ur streamyx?

Everyone, throttling is not happening only in Malaysia but many other countries.

Been trying out a few way to bypass this. I am currently using bitcomet as my BT client. The far most efficient method as highlighted in the previous post might be http-tunelling. Encrypting BT transfer does not work for me and so far no 1 has posted a practical solution so is something that works for me:

1) Go to http://www.http-tunnel.com/html
2) Download the client and install it
3) Go to http://www.http-tunnel.com/phpbb2/viewforu...ca8d26a07e06cac to view on how to set your P2P client to work with this.

For faster speed you will need to subscribe but it has greatly improved my downloading speed. Instead of 2-3 kbps i am now getting about 40-50 kbps which may not be better than before the throtlling before but it definitely helps.

Untill some1 can come up with a better solution to workaround the throtlling issue hope this will helps.
