I was informed by a personel in Streamyx's division that they are throttling P2P based software but they do not control the ports. So whatever port numbers you configure in your router will not make a difference including ports for VoIP, NetMeeting and so on. It is also said that due to the submarine cable that connects to China, Hong Kong & US for extra bandwidth, Telekom is actually renting it from them but it was faulty and an attempt for repair has already begun. Although the submarine cable only affects Sabah & Sarawak, I believe Telekom servers itself can't manage their Streamyx subscribers bandwidth and therefore, they are throttling our bandwidths cause it is known that many Malaysians applied Streamyx for P2P purposes especially torrents. Nonetheless, even if they repaired that submarine cable, I don't think they will restore our bandwidth back to previous state cause this is 1 way to reduce piracy in Malaysia.

There is a catch however, the Telekom personel gave me a very useful piece of information saying that Telekom is blocking by keywords meaning, filenames that have extensions of .torrent, (e-donkey & e-mule extensions). He said, if I am able to find a way to load my torrents without loading the .torrent file, then my bandwidth will be back as usual. Sadly, I do not know of any other way to open a torrent file. I've tried some sites that have the option of "Azureus Magnet Link" but it still didn't work. If you are wondering why he told me so, he is also a serious torrent user. I hope someone will figure out a way to avoid this.

If you are saying that then we would not have any problems with the speed once we load the torrents and stop them then exit and relaunch and resume our files since the tracker data is all there already and there is no need to load the torrent file anymore.

I think the shapping has something to do with the packet and IP.That is why Tunneling works. Now it make some sense eh..If u serious on downloading things from internet .. i think time for u to show skills to create something p2p but 100% encrypted.... hmmm i am sure here got a lot Great IT guys.. biggrin.gif . Piracy somehow needed in malaysia ... cos we are poor. Imagine with RM 100 what software u can get here compare to ur pay RM 1k or RM 2k ? if other country let say USD 1k with usd 100 u can get original windows and so on.. ITs not that i support piracy but i really hope price of original softwares , movies , songs should go all the way down to fit our living expeneses.

for me, it doesn't make sense a little bit...
why, local tracker, international tracker, doesn't mean a thing when it comes to keyword based blocker...
the traffic will be blocked locally and internationally...
if they really block p2p, even local p2p will be crippled..
once u download a torrent file, dont forget u're not just downloading the requested file, u're BT client is updating the .torrent file u downloaded...
that's how private tracker keep tracks of their registered user..
u're constantly updating your share ratio over the network, u're bringing along the .torrent header as well...
u're also announcing to other torrent user to download that file from u...
i'm not gonna fall for that bolded ridiculous reason...

if block .torrent u cant download .torrent files loh... IF like this they ban .mp3 no mp3 to download rite ? hahah

tell u what we need a 100% encrypted torrent to bypass/disguise the torrent traffic.
currently the header is encrypted.

Just looks at how relakks proxy works.. it should give u some clue.

Im running relakks for a week now so far so good.
Just dont do too much connection to the relakks.
Im downloading 2 files at a time.. so not overloading the relakks server.
SPEED is good 60Kps max. mostly US/china seeders.

only VPN got this problem.. ssh tunnel, n socks proxy will not effect browsing speed since we only configure p2p client to user the tunnel or proxy. But maybe also becoz relakks server overload now.. becoz the first time i use it, the speed was very good.

Anybody having problem with relakks right now? I can't seem to ping to their pptp server. Their l2tp server is fine but as many know we cannot go anywhere if we get connected to it.

Don't say torrents, even my IRC is messed up.

Can't even load YouTube properly with a fresh reboot without any P2P programs with also freshly rebooted routermodem.

i try torrent some files which has around dozen of international peers and no local peer. the speed is very slow, like 0-1 kbps. but still i manage to finish the download after a very long time. sweat.gif
so i guess you can still download from international peers, only much more slower.

the only way to get a fast speed is when the torrent has many local IP. and such torrent that is popular are either latest Jack Sparrow copy of movie or those pr0n. so Tmnut limiting the download will make more people download latest movie and pr0n. is that good or bad?

Hey guys, I need some input, whats the speed of Relakks + 1MBps vs. Relakks + 512kbps streamyx?

If I'm gonna be paying 5 EUR more a month then I've got to cut costs somewhere and it might as well be streamyx.
