Unless you want a wider perspective to your images, a 50mm suffices for an outdoor model shoot, the rest are just composition.

actually its very easy.....

when you see a nice photo, what capture your attention first?

so example ya (imagine pls), like i take a photo of KLCC but with alot of cars and alot of other distractions, so...the photo i took is out, cause..too much distraction and.... KLCC is my main subject but it didnt capture the viewers attention. BUT....if my.... intention to take the photo was to take the surroundings of KLCC, then...its OK!!!!

ok ok, so back to potrait, its always good to have a "clean" background, cause your model is the subject..... err..can understand?

How many points now? tongue.gif

Shinchan and I shot Leng Yein, a good friend of mine, at Gombak Lake Garden yesterday morning. After a short breakfast at Melawati we made our way to Gombak, 10 minutes into the shoot it drizzlied for awhile, but it managed to cool the place down and wet the pavements making it less warm to walk on and a perfect environment for a shoot.

Seems like Shinchan is learning pretty fast ... sorry boy, no more turning back now!! Viper joined us for yumcha after we dropped off Leng Yein at Bangsar at night, too bad she had to rush, or else Viper also lost all his 'venom' tongue.gif

You see ... no one interested to know about hands-on review about D80 aleady eventhough I mentioned it sad.gif

When people see good results, they passed the 'hardware test' and wondered WHO and HOW you shoot. So what's the difference between Canon and Nikon? Simple ... the answer is 'A Trained and an Untrained Eye". Someday I will shoot using a Canon and Shinchan his D80 and people will ask "Who shoot one? Shinchan or ac98??" and no longer "Using Canon or Nikon?"

I estimated .. over one long ciggarette break and half a dozen shots, Shinchan manage to 'satisfy' Leng Yein with ONE superb shot of her perfecto S-shape bodyline ... phew!!

Horny, sexy and seductive is her style. She's a professional model and very good at it. Oh yeah, she's really fit but she ain't meaty, so you dun see much of a buldge, but at least I know she is STRONG, unlike many body builders.

i'm not a big fan of shadows. should have asked the model the stand abit further away from the wall or use flash. that said, still pretty good shots.

i feel that the second pic is too kosong. maybe because of the walls, hence no centre point. others are good, bout the shadows, i think it will be a different feeling if the shadows are darker to create different harmony and perspective

i was using 50mm, i try to get furthest i could by leaned against the wall to cover up the half body, barely could not see the viewfinder,

er.. well it depends on the poser and background i think, too much shadows will let ppl forget about the model since the theme is not about shadows lol

i think u need some lighning equipment...i dunno waht coz i'm noob in potrait,mayb a ext flash with bounce effect will do. see the wall...just not white enough...and the shadow just not sharp enough. so the model can't stood out on the pic... another thing is...i think the hair abit messy...but u can do some magic on the hair as well....mayb a Fan will do....sorry shinchan tai low..just some of my comment...no offense...mayb in door shoot is not that easy to shoot but u did a great job here.

Nolah, I am throwing him into a crash course on photography : He thinks shooting models is just joy-walking into a park, nice sunny day with mui mui chais and amois happy shooting here and there and here and there mah ...

First I got him Leng Yein : Very sexy, seductive, very demanding and very very HARD to resist but also very HARD to satisfy. Secondly I got him Agnes and Emily : Agnes is a newbies in modelling, dunno how to pose but Emily's got training when she joined 2006 Miss Malaysia Chinese Oriental Pearl, Agnes is cool but Emily's very cute, so you have 2 different character there. The 2 girls are easy targets but he had to go into a forest, semi-dense jungle, swamp, water fall, mosquito and leech infested area ...

Now THAT is Photography!!

Very very good improvement since the last model shoots.
I love the lil' spots of light the sun created ... it's so 'nature', so natural.

Yalah Shinyshampoo, that angle is very nice. That's why I say, there is no angle from any girl that I shot that I cannot get! Problem is, girls who know their angle will always show that angle ... your look is indeed unique.

no la...i was at 2nd floor about to leave already. saw one bald guy with green shirt with pink sleeves and then i think shinchan was in the red baju kuar...

I did went down ground floor to snap some pics but then the media stand is full and i cant get good shots. ended up taking pics from 1st and 2nd floor.

Shinchan, Dagger and Henry was also there. They were still hovering around blur-blur after the show and after I had a chat with Amber she suddenly put her flower and purse aside and started posing at 3 of them, triggering a rather short and sweet in promptu photo session!

From then on I know, all 3 of them sure gopoh-gapah already tongue.gif

From Henry's post I know he must've left the AF point somewhere in the middle, Dagger got over the barricade and on his knees already, and nasib baik I switched Shinchan's WB to Tungsten or else I dunno what's gonna happen to his shots with aperture wide open! tongue.gif

In the end, everyone tried their best ... and remember guys, moments like these with Amber is very rare coz she seldom pose that long to photogs one!

The D80 ... ever since Leng Yein's photo session I dun look down a wee bit on the model anymore. The camera packs a punch. The last camera I gave that good a review is the D200, which I used for a pagent.

This 2 model get my thumbs up ... until I see the next one thumbup.gif brows.gif

The review is wrong ... if you wanna compare : 1st batch D70 with 2nd batch D70 (the batch that was rushed out together with D50) has a difference in battery consumption and CCD performance (remember I always tell you all about the discoloration a.k.a 'Nikon sickness'?). D80 has much lesser of that 'sickness' but it's still there. Color rendition, AF and WB is definitely better than D70 and D50.

D80 ripped the performance right off D200. Coming to imaging performance it's equally as good as the D200, but you're looking at a more bulky camera and of course, an upgrade in terms of looks and performance brows.gif

I switched it to tungsten mode becoz there was 2 sets of parcan spots shinning onto the stage, each with green, blue, white, yellow and red lights. Red, white and yellow being the warmest colors will hit Amber's face and body 1st before the other colors so I will need to tune them out before they hit Shinchan's CCD sweat.gif

I didn't set to customized WB becoz who knows, I scared later Shinchan switch place then I die ... all blue tint already doh.gif tongue.gif Anyway, the EXIF was right, he didn't use flash at all.
