I didn't pay attention to these previously. Too complicated for me. Being a banana, I'm a bit slow to understand such matters. Glad to be able to read about it in English now. Haha.

Recently some mysterious things happened among my friends.

My friend (A) went for holidays in Melbourne last year. With her husband. Upon returned her face looked terrible, like half of it senget. We thought it was a mild stroke. She went to see western doc and chinese sinseh also not helping.

Another friend (B) and I suggested her to go pray. But her staunch Christian husband refused to let her do it.

Eventually they met an old friend, who brought them see a medium. The dato said a female spirit had followed A home, all the way from Australia.

Ok lor, they were instructed to do some rituals. And I noticed A's face was ok already. Like 90% recovered.

Somehow one day, when we were out for dinner, my friend B suddenly in trance. Guan Yin came and "fight" with the female spirit in myfriend A.

B slapped A's face.

A little while later after the fight was over, Tai Seng Yeh took over B. My friend B in trance again. So funny lol. I never saw such things before.

The Monkey King asked for food and drinks. Offered him a bottle of Guinness stout. Hahaha.

My question is, in such situation what else I can do? I was really stunned. 😑

The Monkey King does not drink alcohol.

Are you sure B isn't just messing around or mentally ill?
*
B is my good friend. She doesn't drink alcohol, not even tolerate a sip. She take yellow wine chicken also can mabuk one

I'm very sure she didn't fake it. During trance she could drink one third of a bottle. I could see her skin changed. Got dark spots all over her arms after she "woke up". A while later the spots changed to red before disappeared. She wasn't drunk at all. That's the weird thing about it.

So Monkey King doesn't drink alcohol. What does he like eating or drinking?

The Monkey King loves fruit, particularly peaches and bananas.

He will also not touch meat offerings, being a Buddhist disciple.

Does B profess to be an actual medium?
*
B has the ability to go in trance. She knows it. But can't stop it.

Her husband did tell us that he has asked sifu to teach him what to do each time some spirits entered his wife's body.

Usually Guan Yin and Monkey God will follow her. Sometimes bad spirits can come along.

Long long time ago, a suicidal spirit almost caused her to jump down from her flats. Since then they moved to a landed property.

Well... the skin changes can be explained, due to hot flushes to those who can't tolerate it. As to  her change of behaviour, interesting though.

Is she a weak type of person?
*
Interesting rite?
I tell you, the whole incident was like a little part of that 'Journey to the West' drama I watched. Lol.

No, she's not a weak person. She's a hard core career minded person. Very business-minded type.

I very much doubt any actual deities are possessing B.

True deities will not randomly possess, at random times, a person that they have not officially designated as a medium.

That isn't the Monkey King she's channelling, or Guan Yin.

They are impostors.

The so called sifu also sounds like he needs his head examined.

If he had any sense or decency, he would have done something to terminate these occurrences for good.

Being possessed by deities is harmful enough, but being possessed by impostor entities is even worse.

What are his credentials?

B needs help.
*
Wow. Imposter?

She needs help from who?

A legitimate medium.

Someone who isn't this half baked 'sifu'.

Ok. Thanks for your advice. ☺

It's hard to tell though whether this is her own mind doing the trick, or there are external spiritual influences.

A friend of a friend of mine has witnessed a spirit possession of a non-chinese , suddenly spoke in Cantonese language cursing everyone beside her.  Apparently on that night, a chinese woman just leaped to her death from the apartment after a  heated argument with her husband.

Even my atheist uncle had seen his friend got possessed by forest spirit, after his friend cut down branches from a tree in the forest to make campfire during a scout trip. Until today he still cannot explain it, although he still remain atheist.
*
These types of happenings very difficult to explain logically. For me, what I saw was real. It all happened right in front of me. As long as they don't kacau me, I won't interrupt also lah.

I was so tempted to record the incident on my phone. But didn't do it lah. I was too near them. Afraid of offending them also.

I'll have to check with her. Thanks.

A real deity would not be adverse to someone filming them.

Why some ppl pray on the 15th and not 14th (7th lunar month)?

I usually pray on the 14th around 7pm, just before dark. Is it a good time?

When I burn the paper offerings, I put them inside a big tong to burn. Not the same tong that I used to burn paper offerings for normal god deities.

Got ppl suggested me to burn the paper on the ground. But the burnt paper will fly everywhere.

It's easier to clean up if using a tong. Next day i will pack the "burnt papers" and throw in the dustbin.

Is it better to leave it on the ground burn or to contain the burnt offerings in a big tong (an old one actually). Last time I used those satay burner container. Hahaha.

Old ppl used to say when burning the paper, if u see unusual wind like twister. They are collecting the offering
*
Yeah. If it goes up, ok wor. If wind blow it sideways into neighbor's compound, not nice lor.

My row of houses here, only 2 families will be praying. The rest are Christian and Muslim families.

Do NOT burn on the ground. This is a fire and pollutant hazard; it's very dangerous.

The 1st, 15th and 30th are the traditional times for mass prayers to be held. By ancient reckoning, the early stages of a new day start at around 11 p.m. of the previous day, so commencing 15th day prayers at around 11 p.m. of the 14th day is entirely appropriate.
*
Ok. I did the right thing. Safety is my main concern too.

So, the appropriate time is at 11pm on the 14th.

I'm asking because when I was young, I noticed we prayed during late hour but my mother-in-law heard from dunno who who said better pray early. But I don't see other ppl pray so early. Haha.

Thanks for the quick reply. What's nice about this thread is, almost every question is given prompt replies. Great job, natchsider.
