QUOTE(nachtsider @ Jun 5 2017, 10:58 AM) The deity in the middle looks like Na Zha to me. Right hand gentleman is Lord Zhang the Serpent Queller. Mind to explain why Na Zha is in the 9 Emperor Gods Temple? Any special relationship between Na Zha and the 9 Emperor Gods? I was surprised that it is occupying the main altar as I was expecting to see 9 Emperor Gods there. Kam-siah.

QUOTE(nachtsider @ Jun 19 2017, 12:44 AM) A bogus medium drew the following image when requested by a devotee to provide a winning lotto number, telling the devotee that "if you are destined to win, you will be able to decipher what I have drawn and derive the winning number from it". This is one of the ways by which fake mediums fool devotees and perpetuate their scams - by issuing sufficiently ambiguous answers that devotees cannot definitely say they are lying. One thing that I don't understand. Why the temple deity didn't expose those bogus or fake mediums? It will affect the deity's reputation if let these perpetrators continue their bad deeds.

Is it possible for a Datuk shrine to co-exist with deities in the same temple?
I couldn't believe my eyes when I seen it at one of the temples in Karak. The shrine was positioned just a few metres away from the entrance to the praying hall.

QUOTE(fkmfkm @ Jul 3 2017, 12:22 PM) even got human..there can be spirits around.....some cannot even be moved one... In Feng Shui, if the property is too "yin" for e.g. old, dark, cold, run-down and left unattended, it will attract these spirits. An empty house opposite my place was left unoccupied for quite some times before the owner found a new buyer. To my surprise, not long after the purchase, the new owner invited priests to perform some rites in the house. I didn't ask the new owner about the story. Don't want to look like a busybody. Disclaimer: I am no Feng Shui master. Just sharing of what I had read and saw.

A question for Dr. Nachtsider.
Is it appropriate for someone who is still mourning over the death of his/her loved one to visit temple to pray to the deities?
Can someone who recently attended a funeral service visit temple?
Is there a "moratorium" period before he/she can visit temple?
Thanks in advance.

QUOTE(nachtsider @ Jul 5 2017, 09:40 PM) A number of mental illnesses can present in such a fashion. Dissociative identity disorder (split personalities) is one, but this condition is VERY rare. I would first try to rule out a non-supernatural cause before casting suspicion on ghosts or other paranormal influences. Doc, I didn't know you also offering free medical consultation in this thread. Constant disturbance by evil spirit causes mental illness too. Don't you think so, doc?

QUOTE(nachtsider @ Jul 6 2017, 10:59 AM) I will state this for a fact. Not once during my career as a doctor have I encountered anything of a supernatural bent. My workplace life has been completely ghost-free. A cousin of mine who used to base in HTAR, Klang as a pharmacist there. During many of his night duty, he used to sleep in one of the rooms there which was known by other to be haunted. However, he didn't experience any paranormal activities during all his time there. I believe if one is "protected", ghost won't be able to disturb or harm you so easily.

Question for Dr. Nach.
In this mortal world there are many unresolved/unexplained mysteries such as murder cases, disappearances, etc, etc. One good example is the disappearance of MH370.
Would deity able to help us to unlock these mysteries if we consult Him?
Thanks.

QUOTE(nachtsider @ Jul 12 2017, 01:43 PM) She's ranked pretty highly. Guan Yin is the highest ranking deity that a medium can channel. Must a medium channeling GY a female? Can a female medium channeling deity while she is having menses? You once shared that menses blood affects the effectiveness of the magic.

QUOTE(nachtsider @ Aug 24 2017, 05:08 PM) You can clear it after a couple hours. If flies, cockroaches or other pests haven't settled on the food, or if it hasn't been contaminated in any other way, waste not - you can eat it. This question may sound silly to some here. Sorry if I sound foolish. Does ghost eat like human being? Chewing the foods before swallowing.

Is it compulsory to take off shoes before entering a temple prayer hall?
I was told from young to do that. But these days, I seldom see people doing it especially the youngsters. The temple caretaker is also not bother to ask them to leave their shoes outside.

Glad to see that this thread is still as interesting as before. One question for our in-house expert, Dr. Nacht. There are usually some sorts of gesture or action performed by a medium when channeling a deity. Are all mediums channeling the same deity will perform the same "standard operating procedures"? Thanks. This post has been edited by iamoracle: Apr 19 2018, 08:50 AM

Dr. Natch, Lord Guan is real historical figure in the ancient China time. What we have learnt about him are mainly from The Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel which mixes facts with fictions or other sources which may not reflect the real story about him.
I always have this idea but it sounds unconventional. It would be interesting if we could ask Lord Guan about his life history personally. Is that possible during consultation with the medium who channels Lord Guan? Would it appear rude to the deity?
Thanks.
