I like this guy's course.

He presents and analyses myths in a very easily accessible, entertaining and inoffensive manner.

The animation accompanying his talks is adorable and smile-inducing.

I admit, even as an atheist, I enjoy mythology.

As long they don't try to create a religion around it (but let's not debate about that here, lol).

I think that creating a religion around mythology is perfectly reasonable, as long as said religion isn't an oppressive or offensive faith. biggrin.gif

A lovely little video of a feast day and procession taken in Singapore late last year, featuring mediums channelling Guan Yin, Sudhana the Pageboy, Lord Zhang, Tua Li Ya Pek and others, too.

Well worth your time to watch.

A friend of mine sent me these lovely images of the City God Temple at Kaohsiung's Red Hair Harbour.

This is a grand establishment and would be well worth your time to visit if you are ever in Taiwan.

For Hell deities in general, really.

It does mean "you have come" or "here you are", after all - exactly what you would expect the death god or the infernal magistrate to say when you finally meet them once you give up the ghost. brows.gif

Hi, I'm curious about the practice of rituals in Malaysia and Singapore.
From what I can see, some rituals differ from temple to temple. Is this a common thing?
And, are there any similar rituals practiced in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong?

Chinese folk religion is virtually extinct in China, no thanks to the Communist government, which is atheist in ideology and cracks down hard on religious practices.

It is largely a Hokkien phenomenon, so you will not find it as widely practised in Hong Kong - at least not in the form you see in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, where Hokkiens are the majority dialect group.

While some variations in ritual practice may exist from temple to temple, they are largely minor and the gist of it remains the same everywhere you go.
