What is people using for a cross platform file system support? Fat32?
Trying to get a common external drive file system suitable for Mac / windows.
Is paragon NTFS driver for Mac good? (usd20) worth the purchase?
Looks like between paragon and Tuxera, paragon performance is better.
I mainly using it for external drive and also for VMware fusion. (Windoes guest )

I am using exFAT. There is a free method that allows OS X to write on NTFS drive, but sometimes it will copy unnecessary files too that are viewable in Windows.

ExFAT is apparently dangerous as it does not have any journalling at all.

I use tuxera NTFS. Really helpful since it can read/write NTFS external hard disk very well. Haven't encounter any problem that I am aware of.
Only that when I read the external hard disk from a windows OS computer it seems to have shortcut-virus... So I scan my hard disk monthly , hoping that my files survive

i think it is good to use NTFS, as it is more widely comparable in any devices including legacy devices.
newer devices can support exFat already. but for better compatibility, NTFS is better as of now. Anyway, Mac can read/write NTFS easily thru any freeware or third party tools.

Anyway, Mac can read/write NTFS easily thru any freeware or third party tools. some people i know prefers to have a hfs+ on their external and just installed paragon hfs+ on their own windows desktop. then whatever files they want to share would thumb into it on exFAT. not so much of a hassle imo since thumb drives are so big and can just thumb about anything This post has been edited by soitsuagain: Jan 1 2017, 12:19 PM

I ended just using ntfs since I still mostly used windows on other devices with tuxera and share it with samba
Also, mac samba is not that good as it turns out I installed smbup instead and was getting 70-80mbps gigabit transfer speed to compared 40-50mbps with built in mac samba.
