Which IF did you do? 16:8?
*
I do 20:4.
Plus I hit the gym 4 times a week doing cardio, strength training and yoga.

Without IF, my weight was yo-yo around 60kg even I go to the gym hahaha.

I've heard that intermittent fasting is good for weight loss. Anyone have any experience on this to share?
*
For me IF is really good. Combined that with regular workout and I've lost 14kg in 5 months.
Started with 18:6. Then now usually I do 20:4

Wow! Those are pretty impressive results. Do you have to keep doing IF to maintain the result?
*
yes.. in that 5 months I did IF everyday except on days that I have events to attend.
and also, weekend is my cheat day biggrin.gif

during the non fasting hours, do you only eat certain low-fat food? or ok to just eat as long as watch the quantity?
*
i eat whatever i want during the feeding window.
but i watched my calories around 1200 calories.

i see. I heard Chia Seeds are helpful in losing weight. any experience?
*
i take it sometimes but I guess as long as you have calorie deficit, you're on the right track to lose weight

That actually sounds quite easy to fit into my lifestyle. Did you feel like your weight loss plateau-ed after a while? I'm worried about gaining it all back when I go back to normal eating too.
*
during the 5 months no plateau at all. my weight consistently went down 2-3 kg per month.
now i'm in maintenance phase (as I've reached my target BMI) for 7 months already and my weight still maintain.
I still continue IF but I eat normally now (previously i watched around 1200cal but now i eat more)

That's interesting... Most people i know tend to only do it for a few days. This is the first time i'm hearing it being adopted as an everyday lifestyle. Would you say it was very challenging for you to make this a lifestyle change?
*
True. Once you've adopted IF, it usually become a lifestyle already. That's why I'm still doing it even though I've reached my target weight

That's great! I have some friends who told me that after 2-3 months they didn't lose anymore weight but they were still doing IF and didn't gain weight also. I never thought of IF for long-term, did it affect your social life not being able to eat with friends very much?
*
Actually it doesn't affect at all. I will adjust my fasting time. That's the good thing about IF. Flexibility. You decide your own fasting time.
If you want to have meals with friends (breakfast, lunch, teatime) then you can start fasting after that.
For example you start fasting at 4pm, then you can have breakfast with your friends at 8am the next day since you already fasted for 16 hrs.

I'm planning to lose fat and keep my cholesterol level in check, I've got the diet part figured out since I've shed a few kilos and lowered my cholesterol a bit since I started controlling what I eat. I just need to figure out on how to start working out, I have to go to the gym since my area has a lot of wild dogs and I'm in no shape to run from them.

What should I start with (since I'm out of shape) and what should I aim for?
a mix of brisk walks and sprinting on the treadmill?
how long should I be exercising per-session?
should I  do morning and evening sessions on the weekends?
and how many times a week should I go to the gym?
*
if you go to the gym, there's a lot of cardio classes you can join.
or else, yes hit the treadmill. 30 minutes per session 3-4 times a week is good enough.
brisk walk is also ok.

Combine with Keto diet is a big yes (Half vege, quarter protein & quarter good fats).

Also time to look into OMAD as part of your new norm. Limit your eating time window say 15 to 30 minutes.

During fasting state do plain water only. Limit daily max 800ml or drink when ure thirsty only. If ure strong enough do Dry Fasting say 24 to 48 hours.

That's what i did and consistently down from 84kg to 62kg in 5 months without any single exercise.

Imagine if exercise  tongue.gif

Good luck.
*
i already lost 14kg last year.. from 62kg to 48kg.
but post MCO+raya my weight went up to 53kg hahaha.
now try to lose it back but I'm stucked between 52-53kg for almost 2 months already

Limit your eating time window say 15 to 30 minutes>> how about ur calories? do u eat less than 1000 calories daily bcos the eating window is so short
During fasting state do plain water only. >> yaa I'm doing this
Limit daily max 800ml or drink when ure thirsty only. >> but not this. i drink almost 3L daily. i think better to drink more bcos if u drink less, ur body will retain the water and u have more water weight. No?

I've been working out, mostly on weight training and little or no cardio for about 5 weeks already, lost about 3 kg since then, pretty happy about it. However for the past 1 and a half week my weight maintains the same hovering around 0.3kg difference.

I take protein supplements , eating lean food to make sure that i have at least 90-110g of proteins everyday to keep up with my muscle mass on calorie deficit.
Carbs intake hovers around 75 normally to a maximum of 110g
Fats intake hovers around 50g

Im at 500-600 calories deficit, pretty sure that i eat no deep fried food except on cheat day, sugarless. 1 cheat day a week, consist of some fried chicken usually but i still make sure i don't go above my calories count. Quite confident on the food part as im not eating the wrong thing as i've been avoid fried food, sugars, and take very less carbs. Do i need to lower my calories intake even more? What am i doing wrong here? Please help.
*
u can try to zigzag the calories intake. perhaps ur body is used to the routine already.
it's time to confuse it.

yes my muscle are shrinking badly lol

running alone won't lose that belly fat.
most importantly, u need to cut the sugar.
then maybe add some weight training and abs workout
what's ur visceral fat rating now?
