Im on my trip to Langkawi with my family and I visited a hardware shop.Im interested to buy a rotary tool but the thing is Lanya Zi product only available.I attached a picture of the set below.The price is RM 160.No warranty.Got a lot head equipment inside like cutting disc and so on.There is another product which is I know its good Dremel.But its quite expensive with 1 year warranty.It can cost me around RM280 after discount .Dremel 3000.If I were you guys ,would you pick the Lanya Zi product which is more cheaper than the Dremel 3000 which is quite expensive... Need fast response since tomorrow the shop close.Any opinion would be appreciate

Get a Dremel or Black & Decker. It's something u will use throughout ur life so get a proper one. Dremel n B&D dont cost much more than that China crap.

I bought the cheapo drill that's labelled Dremel but to find out it was some imitation, and the design was of an old dremel tool.

the worse thing about the tool is that it doesn't work well. The build quality is not good and worse the rotation head is off-alignment making cuts look so ugly.

i bought dremel multipro356 from aswen.hope it can last long long since i heard its a china version of dremel too

Depends on luck. If nothing happens then it's ok. I once had a China heatgun blow up on me. The old timer members here will remember seeing my video last time. Haha

I bought the China imitation dremel rotary tool few months ago via taobao, the tool DOA right after i received, it is cheap but crap, not even use. Eventually bought the ori Dremel 3000 from local hardware shop, cost RM239.

Thanks for this thread, I will go buy Dremel 3000. Is Dremel 3000 absolute rotary tool? What if I want to drill into pc casing that made of plastic or metal?

I'm not expert in modding but to me Dremel 3000 is good enough for lightly drill & cut.

U can drill tru acrylic with Dremel. Metal parts use a drill la. Dremel doesn't have the torque for drilling metal.

Thanks. I thought I need to buy special drill for metal pc casing modding. I guess I need to buy a very small drill bit for my Bosch Rotary Hammer Drill.

How do you guys make sure the cutting and drilling is straight? Do you build your own workbench to slide the Electric Saw in straight line?

And need to buy a clamp to make sure straight drill down?

Cutting in straight lines got nothing to do with bench n all. It takes years of practice to cut straight lines by using jigsaw. Most ppl i see nowadays just send to factory for machine cut or laser cutting. No skill at all. That's not even modding. That's like sub contracting. LoL

But even with practice, human hand can shake. If have a guiding bench, I'm sure the line will be always straight.

by the way, isn't jigsaw probably use for cutting round corner while for straight line, a rotary saw will be more easier.

due to safety and reliability issue, get more reputable brand.

consider the extra you spent is for insurance and better safety

Look at my work in the worklogs. All free hand cutting with jigsaw. Straight as an arrow. Ur hands will never shake as much or as fast as the jigsaw. LoL. Like everything in life, it takes practice. Nothing comes free.
