Going back a year or thereabouts, FSM was promoting China funds on the basis of low P/E ratios, IIRC.

I recall making a comment that China Funds are volatile and basically a hit-and-miss proposition.

On the basis of making a call which turned out good, kudos to FSM. On the basis of the 5-year performance for, say, RHB-OSK Big Cap China, the return is a grand total of 2.9552% pa. Overall, what that means, you decide. smile.gif

rclxms.gif precisely... I'm certainly not doing anything now

One of the things that happens to other people often goes something like this:

- market goes up, don't do anything. Because should not buy high, sell low -fair enough.
- market goes up again, still don't do anything. Because should not buy high, sell low - fair enough.
- market still keep going up and up, cannot tahan, BUY!
- market turns and keep dropping after that, alamak...

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all sifus here thumbup.gif

Wish you all 'huat' and 'ong' this year.
Thank you for the advise & knowledge shared in lyn.  notworthy.gif

My profit so far, invested in small RM amount since I'm a beginner

(rounded up):
Affin Hwang Ex Japan - 12%
KGF - 20%
EIGM - 7%
RHB CMF - 4%

Since you rounded up, including CMF, its unclear how you did your actual calculations.

Just a note that the meaningful representation should IRR, not ROI.

A significant factor in the performance of funds is the exchange rate.

For eg, MYR dropped 15% against USD in the last 6mths.

This has a direct impact if you have foreign funds. Even if you don't, the indirect impact is that overseas traders' behaviour in the local market is affected by the exchange rate, or at least their perception of the exchange rate.

Btw, Kenanga Growth Fund just declared the highest dividend since 2012. Not bad huh?  biggrin.gif

One of the things you really, really, really, need to learn is to IGNORE dividends, because they make no difference. In fact, they are not called "dividends", because they are distributions.

Why? To start your enlightenment, start reading from post no. 1. Read it, digest it, and get educated. Pink has it all explained.

This can be classified as soliciting business, maybe via PM, and can get you banned.

Fine line, I know.

give Pinky carry his good work into next version  flex.gif  rclxms.gif

Yes, give to Pinky. Looi is an RSS contributer. (In some LYN areas, apparently they battle for the privilege)

Pinky, please add some clarification between "dividends" and "distributions".

In particular, point out that funds give "distributions", not "dividends". Which makes it easier for investors to tell they are not the same thing.

DISTRIBUTION AND DIVIDEND IS THE SAME THING AND THEY DO NOTHING TO THE GROWTH OF YOUR $$$

This is NOT about what you think you already know.

This is about what Fund Houses call it - they call it distributions.

Do you have an example where Fund Houses call it "dividends"?. If so, please provide a link.

Then why are some noobs here keep harping about dividends if they are not applicable to mutual funds? yawn.gif

Dont' worry about noobs.

Dividends are not applicable to Funds. Funds give distributions, not dividends.

PS: Please edit the initial post accordingly, thanks.
