Is it possible to get one of those invisible braces that applied at the back of the teeth at government hospital? If not, how much it would cost at private?

What price should I be expecting if I chose ceramic(clear) self ligating for top + normal metal self ligating on bottom?

Just went to an orthodontist, asked for expected price for both kinds of braces. Traditional and self ligating. For traditional is quite decent priced, rm4600. But for self ligating, he said that it might cost rm9000(so expensive?). He seems to insist me to get traditional braces, and seems to think that there's not much difference between self ligating and traditional and want me to go with traditional because it's cheaper. He even explained to be that there's not much difference for braces wearer, but benefits the doctor himself because less chair time.

So I'm not sure that he's saying that self ligating cost rm9000 just to scare me off and want me to get cheaper traditional braces or that he really don't know about the current price because not many of his patient requested self ligating lol

Btw after i insisted on self ligating, he said that he will try to check up on price, and it depends on the materia and brand some sort that affect the price

Traditional bracers: dentist need to bend wire to move teeth. More skill dependent. Usually only orthodontist are trained to do this. More chairside time.

Self ligating: your teeth will move to follow the shape of the wire. Less chairside time. Apparently less painful. Normal dentist, trained in this orthodontics use this system very often.

I think your orthodontist didn't stock up on self ligating system. That's why he needs to order the set (it's expensive).  Maybe he's a dinosaur orthodontist who hasn't kept up to date with the latest systems.

He agreed to a price of rm7000. Rm2000 deposits, rm200 monthly commitment. Is that good deal you think? He had a phd student doing the check up on me last time, so I assume he had a lot of experience doing this.

7000 for traditional or self ligating?

It's expensive for traditional. It's cheap if it's self ligating.

Most importantly, is the result.

Bear in mind many ortho patients just accept their new look even the result are poor (from a professional point of view), because they would somehow still look better than their old self. And too lazy to continue with minute corrections which will take another year or so...

It's for self ligating metal. I thought average for self ligating is about rm6-6.5k or the price has gone up?

Anyway i don't know how's braces gonna change my face, arch and smile. Expecting slightly more gummy smile from what I've heard from post bracer water(i have slight gummy smile now) and class 1 crowding(canine tooth protrude).

And dr recommend taking out 4 tooth, 2 upper 2 lower. And luckily my wisdom teeth are good, no need to extract it. I wonder if they will put braces as well on wisdom teeth. Only small part of it showing. But then again most of my side teeth(molar etc) doesn't seems to be showing much and hidden in my gum, or is it supposed to be that way? I hope that i won't require gum removal for side of teeth

RM7k seems quite alright, is it Damon clear on the upper teeth and metal ones on the bottom?
does the price include X-ray moulding and extraction?  Which clinic did you go to? 🙂
*
No it's full metal... But still is the price okay? Done xray st gov hospital. Doesn't include xray moulding and extraction. Going to do this in my home town in Kota Bharu.. the orthodontist had a PhD student as his assistant so i think that he was a former lecturer or something.

Btw he said rm150 per month is okay. Earlier said rm200

So i got molar band put in. They said that my case is borderline(i think it mean on the low level of crowding despite being class 1 crowding). And they say with self ligating smart clip, my arch might expand(i won't put much hope on it being 20 yrs old) and extraction might not be necessary depending on it. Hope that it does though.

Same case as yours. My self-ligating costs me Rm8k, wisdom tooth so far still ok (no need to extract yet)

Clear or metal? Actually i haven't put on braces yet, will be put on tomorrow. I told them i want metal, and they say that ceramic is more expensive and if it break it will be hard to replace(supply issue or somethinf with them). They say that for metal they can replace for free

How long have you been wearing it btw? Is your case crowding or too much space/gap?

Should be approximate 6 months already. Mine was due to a baby tooth and I don't wanna do tooth implant.

U mean that your teeth are not straight or rotated due to baby tooth?

The extraction of the tooth left a gap in my teeth so the adult teeth will definitely move. Dentist gave me either implant or braces.

I took the latter since I have 2 big front tooth so might as well fix all at once

Oh i see. Btw just put on upper braces today, metal. Didn't think it's quite noticeable as it's silver, and compared to ceramic i don't think it would be much more obvious compared to them.

Btw, does that mean you only remove 1 tooth? Are you not worried the possibility of not symmetrical teeth alignment? Since you won't have same number of teeth on each side

Oh damn. Is yours second class crowding? I think mine can be fixed by shaving some part of the teeth to create space but not sure if they willing to do it
