Hey peeps. I have severe rabbit teeth, and had my very first appointment with Dr. Wong Tuck Yong, an orthodontist at SS2 Petaling yesterday. I thought it was a "he" because of her name.

Well.. she was amazingly friendly and humorous, not to mention she had 35 years of experience. After checking through my teeth, she explained thoroughly what she would do with my teeth. She explicated the advantages and disadvantages of the 5 types of braces she had.
Inner braces - RM16000
Gold - ? (nobody did this at her clinic before so she couldn't tell the price)
Ceramic - RM8000
Damon - RM6000
Traditional (metal colour/ colourful) - RM4800 (including X-ray, mouding, photos, extractions, braces and a set of retainer)
She told me since I'm still young, opting for the traditional braces would be a better choice. She said, Damon braces have the self-ligating system and thus, it'll cause much less pain and discomfort compared to the traditional ones. But they're also more expensive. Hmm..
Four teeth of mine have to be extracted before the installment of braces. They're all premolars. Extraction of two teeth will be done one week before another extraction of two teeth. One week after the second extraction, I'll have my braces on!

I was kind of surprised to hear that as I thought I'd have to wait for at least a month for the wound to heal after the extractions. Yet she told me she can't extract my teeth too early as she needs to fit my teeth into the "holes" and if I do the extractions too early, it'll be hard to move my teeth into the "holes". A wisdom tooth may have to be extracted four months after the installment of braces if she can't make it straight (
senget one)
First payment will be RM2000, and RM100 for every monthly visit. I'll be having my braces for 2.5 years. Gonna turn 20 soon after my braces are taken off. Still young, right?
Just sharing my experience with y'all here.

Anyway I'd have to wait until April to have my braces on due to NS.

Much thanks to her though, for helping me write a letter to JLKN so that I can change from batch 2/3 to batch 1. Sincerely hope I'd receive letter from JLKN soon, telling me the place I'd go.
Four months more! Can't wait for my braces.

By the way, I've been in the waiting list of Klinik Pergigian Klang for 3 years and 1.5 month. Have been waiting from Form 2 until now, finishing my Form 5. Not gonna wait anymore. Good luck for those who wish to get braces from a government clinic!
