try university dentistry if want cheaper, but waiting list sooooooo looonnngggg.
i was told if your root is not strong or have some problem, the you need to correct it first before using braces, otherwise it might make the teeth even weaker... The dentist should check and tell you what to do.

I guess my root isn't strong enough that the dentist asked me to avoid hard food... anyway, will consult the dentist 1st... thx biggrin.gif

no.... your dentist asked you to avoid hard food coz the damaged to your tooth is probably pretty severe... hence the root treatment.... if it's too severe for normal restoration then you will have to go for crowning....

'weak' root is referring to your supporting tissue's health.... it's basically whether you have gum problem or not..... if you have severe gum problem(shaky teeth) then you are not a good candidate for braces..... if it's mild then your dentist will have to clean up your teeth and you have to keep them really clean for a period of time.... once the dentist is satisfy that you can maintain your dental health, then only you can go for braces.....

if your gum problem is not controlled, braces will make things worse..... your teeth will be pretty loose.... may even have them extracted if it's too loose....

guess I'm not a good candidate for braces then... cos the other dentist ever ask me to choose softer toothbrush cos my gum is starting to "shrink"... sad.gif

no... your probably used hard/medium toothbrush and brushed too hard.... this will hurt your teeth(root area) and coz recession of your gum..... not necessary means you have gum problem...

I've always been using soft toothbrush... perhaps I didn't brush in the correct way...
