thanks for replying, is the FOC one did you get the clear/invisible one or wire? Permanent one is the one but behind teeth? I know you can't remember but can you remember roughly how much? More then rm500???
*
For FOC, I get the normal clear retainer. Yup, the permanent one is some wire embedded onto your teeth (at back of the teeth). I would say around RM700 to RM1000. The normal clear retainer already cost RM300 to RM500, so permanent won't be cheaper than that.

Hi, everyone.

I didn't even think about having teeth alignment until recently I realized my teeth are getting worse after extraction of rotten teeth few years back.

I am studying in Johor Bahru and my hometown is in Kuching. I am not that rich and most of my expense is from my scholarship.

So I wanna ask a few questions here :

1. I am planning to do the alignment in JB and is there any recommended dentist or orthodontist in JB?
2. How much will it cost? I am looking for cheap and good dentist. Thus I think I will go for traditional braces.
3. Should I do it now by using my scholarship fund or should I do it after I graduate and have a steady income? I am 22-year-old and I have 2 more years until my graduation. Is there any disadvantage to do it around 24 or 25 years old? Will it be too late for me?

Thanks in advance. Wish everyone has health and beautiful teeth. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

i just done my consultation today at Signature dental clinic at kota damansara
they quote me rm7300 for metal braces(exclude extract,X-ray everything),is this normal or over-priced?
they are not using damon tho so I'm thinking is this a lil bit expensive coz as i know if use damon is around this price
consultation fee rm50 but can claim back if I'm going to do my braces there
but i can feel the dentist is very nice cos visiting dentist used to be my nightmare so i am very concern of whether the service comfortable to not
anyone know any other good dentist in KD area?or kuchai lama area

1. Unable to reply on 1 cause I'm doing mine in KL.

2. I'm having traditional braces, all in including extraction of 4 teeth, xray, total cost is RM6k. RM2k to be paid in the first 4visits (1st Visit - Xray and do mold, 2nd visit 2 teeth extraction, 3rd visit - 2 teeth extraction, 4th - to install braces). Then every month service pay RM160 and balance to be settle upon collection of retainer.

3. It really depends on your financial status. If you can afford do it now.. if not do it later. I startes mine last month and I'm 25 years old now.

7k for traditional braces no worth, better go for damon braces which give faster result and less pain

Can't help with 1 (in KL) & 2 (using self ligating)...

as for 3... I started at 27 so no issues with age... just do when you can afford it... I only decided to get it after working a couple of years and saving... but then again I do wish every now and then I did it earlier! As the instalments offered make it quite affordable.

No way you can do invisalign there... I would be very disappointed with the government if they waste tax payers money on subsiding invisalign as well when there are cheaper alternatives!! and only teenagers aged 18& below qualify to do braces at a government hospital.

Agreed with shepardsdream may as well get self ligating (damon) braces... but I wouldn't attest to the less pain bit lol! never tried using the traditional type before... that or find an ortho who charges less for traditional type braces... tongue.gif

Can anyone recommend a dentist/orthodontist in KK area that offers Damon Braces? Currently working and travelling a bit here and forth hence would prefer Damon braces as compared to the traditional ones for the sake of convenience.

Thanks. smile.gif

hi, why did you choose conventional braces instead of damon braces?? i went to a clinic for consultation and the doctor recommend me to take an MBT conventional braces because Damon braces is only for cases who doesnt need teeth extraction. is this true?

i do damon braces but damon braces doesn't mean no extraction. for my case, my teeth is too crowd, so required to remove 3 teeth. actually no harm to remove teeth, as after my teeth removed and started braces for around 4 months. my relative and friends comment my face look slimmer and different. which previously my face was very chubby

Recently, i just had my damon metal brace at sri petaling and cost me for 6k (excluding extraction). After applied for 1 month, i will going to have extraction by removing 5 healthy teeth (4 fronts and 1 wisdom) on next appointment.

We recently saw an Orthodontist In Los Angeles to discuss a plan for my mother's braces. We were told that the total package would cost CAD 3,500. We would be paying 25% (CAD 875) initially and then CAD 130 every month during follow-up visit for braces adjustment. In any case, the total cost would not exceed CAD 3,500. It may take 12 to 18 months to complete the process.
