QUOTE(davidke20 @ Dec 24 2014, 08:40 AM) Hence stock header always came with a simple piece of aluminium cover that act as heat transfer agent, and shield the manifold from rain water direct hit And it would seem that it's fastened by a gorilla with a rattle gun, I checked mine out when new and it was a real chore to undo the bolts holding it, I used a pipe on the socket to gain more leverage. I'd reckon after a while they would be near impossible to remove. This post has been edited by wankel: Dec 24 2014, 06:53 AM

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Dec 24 2014, 09:05 AM) The dad gum thing is like made of tofu Blast! what's worse is we must have a catalytic converter fitted, so changing to a lovely header system like I've seen on here is near impossible. Fines here for breaking any rule are usually enough to empty anyone's bank account.

QUOTE(iskazulka @ Dec 24 2014, 10:18 AM) i would like to remind you that he is Aussie. doesnt' know malaysian language. thank you. Sorry about that but happily for me it does say somewhere about the forum rules that english is the preferred language, so I don't feel I'm too out of place. To put things is some perspective being caught speeding here like you chaps seem to love doing up and back from Genting would involve a fine something like AU$800, plus an automatic 6 month licence suspension and perhaps even having the car impounded. I fear being caught without the CC would be even harsher, it's far safer for us to have the car looking as stock as possible.

QUOTE(n3w @ Dec 24 2014, 11:58 AM) Having a 'sleeper' modified car would be good. That's the style I like Australia's housing area also has a very strict speed limit compliance. Dunno about compliance but it's heavily enforced, the general residential limit is 50 km/h but school zones usually drop it to 40 at opening/closing times. To be fair it could be said that our tough system has resulted in our state Queensland having the road toll drop from (I think) 695 back in 1976 to only 220 so far this year.

QUOTE(K3nnYkl82 @ Dec 24 2014, 02:47 PM) Now 2.0 ralliar engine 343Nm snip, especially snipping the Fred Flintstone era power figure. You can't get that sort of torque without forced induction, rule of thumb for a pretty good atmospheric engine is 90 Nm per litre, any higher is very good. I wish somebody would shoot that horse that is used so often for power figures, in the real world we use a simple unit named after Mr Watt. The turbo route sounds nice but I don't see my S4PH as a candidate, a new crank etc. would be needed methinks, but any boost may just destroy the CVT, stop dreaming Jimmy.

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Dec 24 2014, 03:22 PM) Lovely but my S4PH isn't suitable to try that route, an S4PE would have me checking into it.

We were fortunate enough to have the Patagonia Top Gear special broadcast here this morning, two quick things I noted were » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « the Mustang was scary bad before it even got off the bitumen, and the Lotus thus far has been surprisingly good, but some of that may be put down to May's empathy with cars. QUOTE(TitanRev @ Dec 30 2014, 04:15 PM) Reminds me that I should make an effort to paint Daisy's rocker cover and pretty her up. A clear timing belt cover would also be nice if I could ever locate one.

QUOTE(TitanRev @ Dec 30 2014, 04:49 PM) Your engine the dip stick Izit extend until the top part of the engine or lower? Here in Malaysia blm and flx is having different dipstick length hence the clear timing belt cover for persona can only fit BLM, FL and not FLX. You check yours 1st if it fits I can try to find one for you. Mine is same as that picture, so I suppose it's a high one, it's also a bit of a nuisance being that long but that's quite normal these days. Many people here are now in the habit of never opening the bonnet so a little nuisance like that will never bother them. In reality I shall probably wait until Daisy weeps oil before painting her into prettiness. This post has been edited by wankel: Dec 30 2014, 04:14 PM

It's all a mystery to me, I haven't noticed any delay, and with IAFM+ I also don't notice a torque dip, are the 1.6 as I have different to the 1.3 in throttle response?

Thank you David, I suppose you learn to adapt but it appears a bit of a pain. Driving a CVT puts me in a relaxed mode so I haven't really noticed.
BTW I found my first real sort of fault today, the wiring plug into the ABS unit wasn't clipped down, looking at a photo I took on the day of purchase showed it wasn't in properly even back then. It's really something that quality control should pick up but hasn't caused me any angst.

QUOTE(iskazulka @ Jan 6 2015, 12:11 PM) but people say our dashboard like crap. Having the speedo hidden by the steering wheel if you adjust it is rather crap but that's about my only beef. I rather like the Lotus link we have, and after Top Gear did Patagonia I say that with no shame, pity though that Lotus are completely unaffordable here as I could get very chummy with one if it didn't require a hectare of money. Even the Jimmy Clarke link has meaning to me as in my childhood I saw him race live.

At the current wear rate it looks like 5000 km will see me shopping, I can't help but think under that super soft layer that would impress the testing journalists that they may have some iron compound to give us punters a serviceable life.

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Jan 13 2015, 06:37 PM) YOKOMAMA C-DIRVEN 2, around AU$59/doughnut RRP of those in 185/60-14 is AU$127, any mention of wear and noise rating seems well hidden so I will naturally assume the worst, also I'm too old and too lazy to need fancy tyres, just something round and quiet would suit me. Due to the way the exchange rate seems to work whatever you pay for vehicle related stuff in MYR is about the same as we pay in AU$, it sort of makes me wish I had capital as there must be opportunities here for entrepreneur traders, the market would certainly improve if we could triple our population.

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Jan 13 2015, 09:20 PM) Well, I know for a fact that you get whatever the figure we paid at Oz in AU$, if not more. That however, comparing a person who gets some RM2000 to buy a set of tires that causes RM520 is a burden. I have a friend, which retired, live in gold coast with his wife. I'm surprised he can survive with just as little as 500$ a week. Ask any of these forumer here in Malaysia, it's almost impossible to live with MYR1000 a week Take it as blessing in disguise man. I do have good experience with China HiFly HF201. Those hideous marthafocker served me well 20000km before I hit a nail and the nail punch through the steel belt. I had no choice but to remove them. I know there's a lot of review that the tire quickly go bald, mine had no such issue as I take care of my alignment. Road noise is absolutely silence and good fuel economy as well. Wet grip wise... not too bad for such cheap tire I'd say $500 a week would be a pay rise for me, but yes if you're not renting life can be comfortable. Tyre reviews and claims are so varied that it's really like playing lotto. When the time comes I think I'll just stick to my way of buying cheap online and fitting them myself. I get more satisfaction that way.

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Jan 14 2015, 03:50 PM) From Pedas to A-Famosa is 180kph Certainly made me look, I take it that would be on that lovely looking and affordable toll road. Toll roads are not something that's an option for me, the nearest is ~1400 km away and none of them accept cash, running as somewhat an account scheme, something that's pointless at our distance away. Is this 180 km/h to be done (which I've seen a few times on youtube) with the 1.3l model that has a claimed top speed of 155 km/h? Proton don't do themselves any favours by being conservative with quoted figures, boy racer wannabies love numbers to drool over.

I like the Savvy, I was interested in the auto shift transmission a while back but the CVT has really rendered all other transmissions old hat now. I don't have any drama with using a manual, I chose a CVT because I'm old and lazy, and knees cry when we age.
